Best Restaurant/takeaway Names (past And Present)

On Whippendell Road. What a great name. Ticks all the boxes. How it survived for so long without some of the most litigious companies in the world closing it down, Lordy only knows.

Now called Pizza & Kebab Corner. Booooooo. Safer than safe.

Gets a chuckle out of me when ordering, not a bad fish and chips either

 

I used to pass a place called Eat Me Out Cafe on Carlton Hill everyday when I lived in Nottingham. Disgusting behaviour. Looks like it’s gone now according to google.

There used to be a chippy in the village I grew up in called The Last Resort.

There’s a cafe in Lincoln called Salvador Deli.

The cricketer Stuart Broad owns a really nice pub near us called The Tap and Run. Exceptional pub with a good name.

 

Is that a picture of Michael Corleone on the wall inside. Does the Horse's Head come in light crispy batter?

 

After a night out in Llanelli?

 

During a family holiday somewhere in Norfolk in late 70s/early 80s, there was a restaurant/inn/pub called The King's Ar5e. It's accompanying sign was a side profile painting of naked buttocks with a crown on top.

 

When we used to walk past the 'Chinese' take-away near to the Canterbury West level crossing my Chinese Malay housemate used to smile (more than normal). When I asked Seong what he was smiling at he said the Chinese (Fujanese?) characters could be very loosely translated as "Fcuk off round-eyes".

The pub/inn/restaurant on the approaches to Shoeburyness was the marvellously named "Captain Mannering".

 

This place is very popular with all of the posh students I teach:

If the owners are Chinese, which I assume there is a big chance they are, then they have a self-deprecating sense of humour.

 

I used to do annual trade shows at the Birmingham NEC. We stayed near by in a place called Shirley.
Every year visited the "Shirley Temple" Chinese restaurant. I think it's closed now and an Italian called Little Italy.

Not a restaurant but on Hill street in Harrow there used to be an off licence called "Hill Street Booze".

 

That last one is very good. Offie near me is owned by a lady called Aimee and called “Aimee’s Wine House”.

 

Not a restaurant or takaway, but it did make me larf.
