BIG F*CKING WIN!!!! Battered them for the majority of that match. Bright start set the tempo. Manic effort from everyone, a complete turnaround from Luton last weekend all whilst missing our player of the season who in turn also elevates our best attacking threat Sarr's game too. Munoz said we'd see the best of Watford tonight, and that certainly was the case for most of the first half, all that was missing was a goal. I thought the pre match 'fear' of Norwich was a bit over the top. That's 4 wins over them in a row now. Deserved to be a goal or two up at half time. Gosling was getting into the right areas and something was bound to drop his way eventually if he kept it up, and it did. Another stoic performance from the back 5. Cleverley brought much needed energy and intensity to the midfield that we don't get with Sanchez or Zinkernagel and Chalobah carried on where he'd left off when he came on. Great to see Kabasele back on the pitch too. Brentford (apparently gods gift to football) bottling points again. Swansea sh1tting their jocks the last few weeks. Meanwhile we get our biggest result on the road when we needed it most. Happy days and massive credit to the lads, Munoz and staff! Now lets go win our last 3. No f*cking reason this team should be thinking of anything other than beating Millwall, Brentford and Swansea because we're more than capable of it.
Beeb say 4 but I can’t see how more than 3 are needed barring an enormous GD swing in favour of Swansea (and assuming they win tonight). Have I missed something?
Brilliant post 3000. I agree totally. Derby matches are strange affairs. Even Man City, on a unbelievable winning run, messed up at home to Man Utd this season. For all the smart arses on Twitter who drone on about Xisco being the worst tactical coach we’ve ever had, he’s installed such a wonderful ethos and spirit into our club. A squad remember that was falling down the table. We will never know if he only changed to 4-3-3 because of the Deeney injury, but as Barry Davies once famously said of the German hockey defence, ‘frankly who cares’.
Mathematically yes, Brentford can get a max of 87 points now, Swansea 88, 86 or 85, depending on their result tonight. Right now, it’s 86. With our GD so much higher than swansea’s we would have to have a complete meltdown in the last three games for them to catch us. Bmuff 86. They will all focus on the Playoffs now.
Absolutely brilliant! Only 2 points needed from last 3 games... So close, the lads can't afford to get complacent though
I'll hold my hands up, that was a brilliant team effort, shame on me for doubting. Cleverley gave his all snapping in midfield and that was vital with Chabs not starting. Goslings best game, could have had a hatrick. Man for man they wanted that win big time and this week it showed. I bottled the game Saturday and we lost, so I watched tonight and so glad I did.!! I can trust again.....
Absolutely wonderful, huge huge win. I thought we were supposed to be a bunch of bottlers? Brilliant performance from start to finish.
Yes. I wonder how much of it was affected by Norwich seemingly starting the game as if they were afraid to get injured in their challenges, but regardless we were definitely playing at a higher intensity than at the weekend. Cleverley was for sure a significant driving force behind our increased ruggedness and energy levels, he showed exactly what we've missed while he's been out and why he should start the remaining games this season. He was fantastic again in midfield charging everything down, same as he has been all season when available. Chalobah looked very good when he came on which was reassuring. Having him back will also be very good for the remaining games. I'd slagged off Gosling and JP before the match, and they were indeed largely ineffective throughout it and rightly substituted first, yet within that they also somehow managed to combine for the goal! Thanks for that I guess. Sierralta, once again phenomenal. Cathcart was the right call for right-back and was pretty comfortable. Hughes one of the slight negatives, seemingly a bit off colour, still giving away too many cheap fouls and delivering poor set-pieces. My stream annoyingly died just before the goal, but whatever. Very relieved at the final whistle. Boom! Oh, and psh, can't believed I was worried before the game about "lads, it's Norwich".
I honestly put it down to the pitch, and the high press game the scum were using. A passing game was impossible on that pitch, and they harried us so hard that combined with the poor pitch we couldn't find our arses with both hands. No one can claim with any credibility that our team doesn't possess mental strength after we went to an already-promoted Norwich on the back of a derby loss and essentially played them off the park, so the underlying issue has to be something else.
Not many said it. Only a few of us did. The rest called us deluded etc and said Norwich would batter us. Can’t wait for the apologies to flood my inbox.
Beat millwall or any other team in the last 3 and we are up Don’t lose any of our last 3 and we are up
A spectacular performance really. Not only did we win away at first in a crunch game but completely deserved it. Well done lads!
I disagree. We played well against Bournemouth but just can't compete with their dirty tactics or their conning of the 4th official. Can't wait to see the back of them.
Shame we didn't have that desire at Lootown Saturday. Full Mark's to every single one of them tonight. Could and should of been by a greater margin but will take 3 points away to the leaders anyday.
Where's Relegation Certs and RS 2 and their negativity now? Great performance, totally controlled that game. The pond beckons ....
Wow, impressive stuff. Whatever we paid for Gosling was worth it for that goal alone! Should have had more. Beat Millwall and we're up.
The one downer is that we're (probably) not going up as champions with 100+ points on the board. We should be, and we would be if we hadn't let the horrible Vladimir Ivic nullify our players for so long with his awful sterile tactics.
Great great performance. Still bricking it at the end though. Such a different effort from Saturday. I am elated, deep down, but it is set off with an overwhelming sense of relief. I can now relax and enjoy the championship playoffs. I know, I know, it’s not over, but even we couldn’t **** it up from here. Couple of bottles of beer beckons.
