I didn’t say he’d had a great season, I said he had been one of the better players which I think is fair enough. I’m not sure I could name any player that’s had a great season

Agree. Think the only real contenders for POTS so far are Kiko, Sema, Cleverley and Sarr. JP, Sierralta and Bachmann should be in the picture too if they keep playing regularly.

Kiko is a good Championship RB, Premier league he was far too lightweight and switched off.
Sema was let off his leech Saturday as was Sarr and we witnessed the rewards of this. Maybe Sema isn't Premiership quality either but again we're not in the Premier. Those bridges have to be crossed if or when we get promoted. It's all about here and now and they're more than good enough at the present.

Another fantastic performance from Captain Tom. Always wants the ball, works his ******** off for 90 minutes and leads by example. One of the first names on the team sheet, for me.

  5. 10/10 for effort tonight, he ran himself into the ground for the team

Yep. Him, Sierralta and Masina were all sloppy on the ball first half but put in absolutely massive shifts second half and dragged their performances up by sheer willpower and effort. Excellent attitude all three.

I like him as a pressing #10 with two players behind him, think him, Hughes and Gosling are our best options in the midfield

Zinckernagel and Wilmot are going to have to put in a hell of a shift out of position. Surely Sanchez is there just in case Hughes was injured or suspended... moot point though, as if we lost Hughes we'd be screwed anyway.

Only missing 4 games, which 3 out of the 4 on paper we should be winning anyway.

Hopefully Gozzer’s hammy is ok and he starts on Saturday.

Glad it’s nothing major. At least for the tough run in we have, Clevs will be fully fit and raring to go. Could be a major blessing in disguise. The guy doesn’t stop running. Coming back fully fit for the last 8 games after could be a difference maker.

    Let's hope so.
I don't have any fears about Zinc in the midfield and Wilmot is a good footballer so should, indeed has in the past, played there.
Dan Duck was supposed to be a minor knock but with our medical history combined with his, who knows?

Chickens coming home to roost. Can we afford lose him for at least 4 games, with what we have left?

Gosling is obviously a crock. Hamstrings will be a regular injury with him. Sanchez, will he be match fit immediately? Highly doubt that. Chalobah out for the next game, but should be back after that. Then we're into fitting in players like Wilmot, Zinckernagel and/or Phillips.

Well done to the board for putting us in this position. Stellar work.

On paper, a draw against Forest wouldn't be too bad given that shambolic lack of options in midfield, shame that a point isn't much good to us

He's done well for us recently, but he is not a good footballer. There are other players we would miss far more than him.

Sanchez may have looked horrendous in the premier league (I wouldn't know, I couldn't give a toss about other teams), but we are now playing against dog terds week in, week out.

When cleverley recovers from injury, he wont be able to dislodge Sanchez in the team. Bookmark this post ya ****s.

I've just been looking at our crop of U23 MF's there is not a lot of information about them on the club website, but this is who we have: -

Wise age 21 (son of Dennis Wise); Critchlow age 20 AMF; McKiernan age 19 only says he is a MF; Ochieng aged 22 not much info on him just MF; Patterson aged 20 AMF; Bergkamp aged 22 (son of Dennis Bergkamp) AMF; Forster aged 20 sounds versatile as listed as can play, FB, AMF or Winger; Phillips aged 20, there is a big write up about him, however I'm not sure if he is fit at present, the article was not clear?

Do any of you guys have any more details about these players? And if so, which if any of these lads do you think might be able to attempt a step up into the 1st team squad in our current time of need?

Massive blow right now and his injury history with us is marred with seemingly minor ones that then turn into months on end. Reckon he'll be back before the end of the season but I'll eat my hat if he's back just after the international break.

Zinck is a far more creative player, but we are going to miss Clev's energy from that #10 position. On paper we still have Hughes, Chalobah (after Forest) and Gosling (if fit) too, but the shape of the team that's just had our most successful run of the season won't quite be the same, and needless to say, if Gosling is out for any length of time, we'll be positively bursting at the seams. Need him back ASAP, can't afford for him to pick up one of those knocks that our players always seem to get whenever they're on the brink of returning

So, we've been doing pretty darn well without him, I'm not even sure he gets back into the team when he's fully fit (possibly on a horses for courses basis, Clev plays in that #10 role against better footballing teams where his energy and pressing can disrupt the opposition, compared with Zinck, who's ability in tight spaces could help unlock stiff doors), but the more the merrier

Yep. Absolutely shouldn’t walk back into the side, but there will definitely be games, or moments in games where his experience and skill set is needed to help us through.

As a positive influence on and off the pitch, I think he’ll play a big role in the run in.

  32. Relegation Certs

He shouldn't walk back into the squad let alone the team.

But he will start matches as soon as he's fit and we'll be a poorer side because of it. To the extent that I think we will miss out on promotion.

We're much better than him now, but I fear the buffoon in charge will disagree.

The extent of his involvement should be to stand on the sidelines and clap.

We were doing pretty darn well with him as well, he's only been out for 4 games. Our change in form and mentality happened with him still in the team.

In general he's been one of our better players over the course of the season and has managed a decent 4 goals and 2 assists.

On recent games it would be difficult to pick between Clev and Zinc for the #10 role.
