According to @EnzoOlivera, Francisco Sierralta (23|) is followed by 4 Premier League clubs (2 from London).
His good performance for Watford has grabbed the attention of teams from the Premier League
22 games for the Hornets. https://t.co/QjuwSVBZf6

West Ham and Palace are supposedly the two London clubs

  3. You would imagine if we are not promoted he would be off, with Sarr Hughes, Chalobah, JP etc etc.

However as it's a sure thing since Xisco threw the 442 in the bin we're getting promoted... close this thread :)

Sarr is possibly off even if we go up, as disappointing as it would be, I'm kind of prepared for it. Hughes also would be off if we don't go up, I imagine we wouldn't have kept him if it weren't for his surgery which kept him out of the start of this season. Chalobah attracted interest from Leicester even when he was putting in middling performances, if he keeps this form up it'd be hard for us as a Championship club to keep hold of him. However, I think if JP is smart, he'd stay an extra year in the Championship if we don't go up, a very good player for sure, but next season would he get into any Premier League teams above the strugglers? I mean he's destined for great things, but there's no rush for him

If promoted I still believe there's a slight possibility that Sarr stays unless somebody comes in with a crazy offer. Will clubs have crazy money to throw around?

  6. Lets wait and see if the offers come in. Sarr still blows hot and cold and I'm to be convinced he improves the likes of Liverpool. He's a lot like Zaha, who has spent almost his entire career at Palace.

Well West Ham probably think they've struck lucky with Dawson so not try to sign another one of our central defenders!

And Palace have loads of players out of contract and their fans want to see younger players in their squad.

Sierralta would be perfect for Palace. All of their centre backs are the wrong side of 30 and with their style of football all the centre backs have to worry about is defending. If that makes sense.

If he goes there I'll be physically sick.

    Possibly over him.

On the contrary...West Ham have probably realised Dawson is jacking it in now that he's secured his Premier League future!

He'd defo choose West Ham, a better team, and a chance to reunite with his pal Craig from the Newport game

Brentford or Norwich in the summer. £5m or nearest offer.

    That'd be fine.

Maybe throw in Zinc as well for that money.

Disgusting that you would even contemplate doing that without offering them Sarr too.

I like your thinking. Might be able to get them up to 8 figures for the 3. That would a cover a good few quarterly loan repayments.

I doubt they could afford the £15m-£20m it will take to buy Sarr.

Sarr will be double your value. FS won't go anywhere just yet.

No he wouldn't RS2. ;) It would be like seeing a sparkling diamond surrounded by dung. Fingers crossed they go down next season. They cannot keep clinging on in that division forever. They've been pretty fortunate that this season the bottom of the PL is infested with truly some of the worst teams to have ever played in the top flight.

    They have a dilemma.
Stick with Roy and guarantee survival but bore everyone this side of Leningrad to death doing so.
Or appoint a new coach, possibly Lampard or Dyche, depending on your source and run the risk of going down, especially as they will need many new additions.
They tried it once with FDB and it was a pig's ear so who knows?

Being pragmatic I don’t see this as a bad thing. If we don’t go up then there is another financial black hole to plug, we’ve only got so many assets of value and not going up will impact the value of those assets in more ways than one. FS is essentially a massive bonus that nobody accounted for, now I don’t know that championship centre backs command huge transfer fees but being pretty young we should be able to get a decent sum, this will allow us to be that little bit more competitive next season than we otherwise would’ve been, just asset stripping to plug a gap but ultimately it ending up with an inferior squad to this season. We still will have a worse squad, but at least we might have a bit extra to reinvest.

Only one year left on his contract though so unless he signs an extension, we won't get a decent fee for him.

Yep...more brainless thinking by the club. Place all crap players on long contracts, but the good ones on short deals. That's the Watford way.

Well they didn't know he was going to be that useful tbf.

    I mean look at Perica...

Easy to say now and sure they will consider an extension as they like to hand those out too.

They probably listened to the majority on here who slagged him off before even kicking a ball when offering a contract.
He seems like a decent chap and have no doubt he will extend his contract. The defence should be built around him. A future Captain maybe.

Their judgement seems to be really flawed these days. When you're a smallish club, you have to get it right more than you get wrong or else you're in trouble. The past two years have been testament to that, and has contributed to the downfall of the club.

Do not trust everything that you read in the media. Some reports have stated that his contract will end in 2022, but Sierralta has two more years remaining on his contract at the end of this season. He signed a three year contract when he joined Watford in September 2020 (according to the club itself).

I think it's more likely that they were worried about the finances and didn't want more Navarros, Peñarandas etc draining the budget for years whilst contributing absolutely nothing to the first team squad. They must be filing the accounts soon, they never usually file them this late in the year. Suspect they're not going to be pretty. Promotion or bust...

Well sounds like he has a contract for longer than 2 year anyway.

Of course had he hardly played and signed a 3/4 year contract everyone would have been complaining about more wasted money.

He only got into the team around December so probably wasn't due to be a first team regular but fair play has taken his chance well due to others having injuries.

And if the club want to offer a longer new contract then fair enough but that will depend on the finances of course and what league we are in.

Yes.....exactly my point. Their bad decisions has brought about this financial mess. Their decisions directly led to relegation. Only one person to blame for losing our Premier League status, and that's the same guy we all praised (rightly so) for our elevation in status 6 years ago.

The club signed the Navarro's, Gray's, Penaranda's, Success'. They were not inherited players. I've listened to the Giraldi interview and we've missed a lot of opportunities. Not sold at the right time. Doucoure was a shocking deal for us. We lost around £20m. From £40m the year before to £20m this season. Same with Ighalo. Sold these players far too late. Dawson another f*** up.We sign him for £5.5m then only 12 months later do a deal where we lose money on him. I also believe we sold Richarlison a year too early. Should have kept him for another season, and even Giraldi suggests that in the interview. The Suarez and Estupinan deals were poor too. We cannot afford to be run like this. We're not a big club who can operate losing money on talents, or holding on to average players on big deals. It's crazy and is a fundamental cause to our decline.

We may well go up this season, but I feel that's in spite of how we're been run, not because of it. I agree with your last comment. It's promotion or bust for sure.

Ighalo was sold in Jan 2017, approximately a year after he lost his scoring mojo. When are you suggesting he should have been sold? I can’t see that the club would have got rid of him, even for £40 million, when he was banging the goals in during 2015/16. I don’t know how much we would have got in the summer of 2016.

6 months ago he was 5th choice CB fodder who couldn't get a game in Italy. Now the Pozzos are fools for not signing him on a long term deal ? Do you run your whole life based on hindsight ?

I am sure this is right. However we are not alone as none of Bmuff, Brentford, Palace or Fulham (to name a few) have either. Only Norwich have-back in December-they showed their cash balance (£40m) was more than their debt (£23m) and they subsequently sold 2 players for £40m in the summer spending only £9m on replacements.
