When will we hire a head coach that talks about this is the pre match press conference. Just stupid that every time we play them, the same thing happens. First thing I would do is focus on their cheating, diving and disgusting tackles and make that the main focus of my press conference. Wouldn’t bother answering anything else. Just spend 10-15mins talking about how dirty they are. Make sure it’s all over the media pages and everyone is aware. People see it but no-one talks about it enough. Every team from now until the end of the season should highlight this. Bet the refs wouldn’t give them as much if they did.
An AFCB tweet saying it came from the doctor who looks after the press at the game, witnessed it. Could be bollox.
Is it that great though? I always think posts which show crying or boo hooing generally via a gif to be as lazy as it gets. Still about what you’d expect to be honest. I do find supporters that applaud what went on today pretty ******. For the comments comparing this to Forestieri, pretty sure many supporters borderline booed him for it or at least expressed their displeasure/embarrassment. Most certainly didn’t revel or defend it. Still players attempting to seriously injured fellow pros and trying to get fellow players sent off by diving/acting. Bantz isn’t it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sad but inevitable to see racial slurs aimed at Lerma on social media. No-one should ever be abused because of their race. They should be abused because they’re a f****** a******.
I've just watched the free kick incident on The Quest TV Highlights show and they showed the ref blowing up for the foul on Chalobah and clearly indicating with his arm that the free kick was ours and not the CHEATING BARSTEWARDS!!! Furthermore the pundits were in total agreement that Muff should not have had a free kick at all as it had clearly been awarded the other way. They also discussed the brawl and the end and could not understand why Lerma walked away from the whole thing without even a yellow card and said in fact he probably should have got a red as he clearly raised his hands to the area of Cleverley's face. They qualified that claim by pointing out that Woodgate had said that Chalobah should have got red for the incident with Lerma because he had raised his hands near Lerma's face, ergo Lerma should have got a red according to what his own manager had said.
Racism is never on. However, when you act like a complete tw*t you deserve to get stick (but not racial abuse).
Lema got let off for this incident after an appeal so there is no way Chalobah should have been sent off surely as they claim ? Should it have still been our free kick as well ?
Chalobah wasn’t sent off. But he’s suspended for picking up his tenth red card. We won’t be able to appeal that as there’s no appeals process for bookings. And yes. It was awarded as our free kick. I think the referee just got caught up in the disruption and forgot that despite their player being the one melodramatically rolling around on the floor, it was our player who was fouled.
Yup. But then our players must have forgotten it too, otherwise I'm sure they'd have been trying to point that out.
As I said earlier in the thread, I don’t miss var but var would’ve easily sorted just that one incident out alone, the fact that it was our free kick would’ve been picked up on. The ref would’ve also been made aware of how much of a meal Lerna made out of essentially nothing, he may have even been booked for it, even if he wasn’t his card would’ve been marked for the rest of the game. As we’ve all said a million times, no surprise Bournemouth were relegated as soon as Var came in and they directly benefited yesterday from it’s a absence. With a manager like Woodgate it’s no surprise their cheating antics have continued, if anything they’ll only get worse. ‘Gamesmanship’ is straight out of the percentage football handbook, in the absence of any skill or proper know how it’s an easy ‘tactic’ for dinosaur managers to instruct. It’s just a shame we fell for it so more fool us. The fact that their fans are bring up the FF incident up says it all, that was what, 8 years ago? Most of us were disgusted and embarrassed by that incident, but that’s the most recent example any rival fan can think of when it comes to Watford and gamesmanship? Meanwhile you only need to look at the last 90 minutes of football they played to see several examples of Bournemouth engaging in it. The lack of self awareness to bring up am incident from so long ago to defend present actions is absolutely staggering.
I'll ready you for it but posing this conundrum: what would you rather eat a hot sh1t sandwich or a cold sh1t sandwich?
Fair point! Sorry. I was trying to say if they think that isn’t a red card then they cannot claim Chalobah should have been sent off. I am not sure VAR would have got involved in that incident unless looking for violent conduct which it certainly wasn’t?
I agree with what you say but Chalobah pushed Lerma in his shoulder to get him off of him. Most players who commit a climbing offence will get down immediately, Lerma stayed on as long as possible and waited for a reaction. Because of the melee at the end, I would expect some close scrutiny by the FA.
Shocking defending for the goal, Kiko and Cathcart caught flat footed and Bachmann needed to come out and close the angle but as usual was stuck to the line. Frustrating that we were pulled into their game but you have to be smarter in games like that. Tells you all you need to know when Gosling was calling them out.
It set out to wind up Watford fans and it did. I've not applauded it, not sure where you got that from. I'm not sure where you're getting banter from either. Just because someone hasn't gone on twitter to wish him a career ending injury in Spanish doesn't mean they don't find what happened appalling.
it would only be 33% if all 3 teams had the same chance. And as you well know 50:50 is just a saying you little rapscallion
this was a little callback to the old Watford , how many times did we lose goals in the last 10 mins when a free kick was given and we switched off. I think the team was still trying to process why it wasn’t our free kick
I overlooked this, but look at which way the referee gives the free kick, that eventually led to the Bournemouth goal. https://twitter.com/i/status/1365672826745798656 He gives it to Watford. Then all that nonsense over Lerma's reaction follows. This reaction gets Chalobah a yellow card (and a two match ban), then the referee suddenly switches his decision and awards it to Bournemouth from which they score from. I believe this incident lit the touch paper which resulted in that melee in the final minute and cost Pedro his second yellow. Lerma then posts an emoji of laughing with tears on Twitter, just to rub salt into the wounds. He'll be a Bournemouth legend now and certainly this one incident cost us the game. What's frustrating is that the referee bought it hook, line and sinker and we fell for all the *********ry tactics.
Retrospective punishment should be a must in the modern game. Players are still getting away with all sorts of things. A hefty fine and lengthy ban for that ***** Lerma would be great. Unfortunately the authorities are completely useless like their officials.
Think that was in response to Gosling complaining in a post match interview about him and Wilshere playing up during the game.
Sorry to break it to you, but that was a made-up quote from our very own @LouOrns purely designed to take the piss.
Just like every time we play them. They have our number. Our players mock their behaviour in a playground like manner rather than get on with the game and winning it. Need strong coaches and strong minds for games like that. Probably why Cardiff beat them, McCarthy isn't going to fall for it. Our 'coach' stands there clapping and wondering who's on pool duty today. We handed the game to them on a plate. And as much as our utterly moronic fans lap up the Twitter admin banging on about Gosling now 'being a Hornet', we lost the ******* game. Again.
Fair enough. Also the club did this one. https://mobile.twitter.com/WatfordF...ball.co.uk/threads/gosling-today.13547/page-2
Yes, indeed - clearly implying he didn't love being on the end of the despicable antics he took part in for years, but no actual vocal criticism to speak of.
Agreed. We just didn't know how to deal with it and wasn't even expecting it. This is where a wily coach has the advantage. Our team should be better placed in the league than it is. By that I mean we should be up with Norwich, well clear of the rest by now. The reason we're not is down to Gino. He hired an inexperienced coach, sacked him then hired a joke. The fact we're still up there shows how good our squad actually is, even after it's been stripped down to the bare minimum. Basically we've got someone who has raised the spirits, which is good, but falls down on everything else. Had we kept Nigel Pearson we'd have been home and dry at the top by now. Gino has given us a squad and head coach who may just creep over the line, but it will be an achievement in doing so, where we should have had a season where we coasted to winning the Championship. But they lost their nerve, went cheap at every opportunity, and gave us the bare minimum to achieve success. To be honest, Gino doesn't deserve promotion by the way he and the board have handled this season. Maybe harsh, but a few home truths have to be said. If we don't go up, it's totally down to him. Buck stops at the top.
