If you’ve logged in and watched I’m guessing you have received or will get the survey, clearly someone is a little worried plenty of free text boxes “what reason would make you stop watching hive live?” Or similar I’m guessing for any sane fan - stop playing ******* Andre Gray when the man isn’t a footballer
I got a survey which it states is specifically aimed at people who are yet to purchase a Hive Live pass this season, so looks like there are 2 surveys being carried out by Watford.
I said it’s not bad in terms of context but shame about the football ! It asks why would you stop watching .. I think even Emma and her guest were peeved after the QPR game !
Hive Live would be vastly improved if they just left out those disgusting, two 45 minute interval breaks they take, where they display 10 men in yellow, and one in a keeper shirt, trying to play football. If this could be replaced with perhaps 45 minutes of cats and dogs chasing a ball around their homes, and 45 minutes of pandas climbing and falling off things, I'd be a lot happier.
Didn’t open the email originally as the title just said about winning a free pass for a game, and so deleted the email. However, have now gone back in to do it. Two main things I said - I’d actually like some in depth analysis like they do on Sky / MOTD etc but not rose tinted, so showing the bad stuff and where we need to improve. Main thing I said though is I won’t be buying one until the entertainment of the team improves as the football has been dull. To be honest I couldn’t really care about the rest of the show, if the team plays well then it’s worth a tenner, if they don’t, and regularly don’t, then it’s not.
I wonder if anyone gave them comments on the coverage, or just comments on the quality of the team? I voiced my thoughts on the apparent lack of energy and commitment from the team to score goals.
I've not seen the survey but one thing that annoys me is I dont seem to be able to stream on my smart TV. I know I could wire my laptop to the TV but surely we should be able to stream direct to TV even if through the website.
You mean you've tried getting a stream by accessing the Internet on your TV and entering the URL and nothing happens? I can watch videos I've uploaded to Google Drive on my smart TV (although it's pretty cumbersome with the remote) and of course you can watch YouTube videos through the browser or YouTube app so it should be possible to view streams.
I really like Hive Live's commentary, insightful and just concentrates on the game without the inanities and irrelevant waffle that sometimes mars football coverage on national TV, though Mooney, WFC legend though he is, is best left as co-commentator. Jon Marks is a pleasure to listen to, well-spoken though he may be a bit too laidback for some (because of that and the lack of crowd it took me a few seconds to realize our first goal had gone in!). That said, I've only watched them for today's game and highlights of the reverse fixture but feel the £10 would be money well spent for their commentary alone even if the game is somewhat dull. Just wondering, does Marks get more worked up when we are playing really poorly (like with most of the post-lockdown period last season, away games at Wycombe, QPR, Huddersfield and Coventry)?
I don't seem to be able to stream the hive stream on my TV through the usual URL that works on the laptop. I can access the page but when I try to play the match it just gets stuck and shows a blank screen. Seem to be able to stream other websites on it, just not the hive stream for some reason.
Do your TV and laptop allow screen mirroring? I just set games up on my iPad and then cast it to the TV over the wifi.
I'm pleased to see that my Hivelive survey feedback on Saturday morning that Deeney and Gray shoudn't be in the team seems to have been listened to in the afternoon. Respect.
I log on at one minute to kick-off, log off one second after the final whistle, leave the room at half time and watch with the volume off to avoid having to listen to Tommy Mooney stating the obvious in his flat, northern drone. I hope that is helpful
I have paid for every match when available, (Its lockdown we need something to look forward or moan about) however although I have done the survey and didn't suggest it, its a shame they don't give a discount for us regulars watchers!
Are there any reasons why you wouldn't watch Hive Live? My answer: yes, if Deeney and Gray are on the pitch.
It ain't bad for a tenner to be fair. Emma Saunders is a great hostess, like many on here, Tommy Mooney is a legend, but he should never ever ever be a commentator ever. Mogadon springs to mind. Sorry Sir Tom
Horace, this may be complete ******** but at worst someone will tell you I'm wrong (and an idiot liar) and you can tick one off the what's wrong list. I think you can only access the stream on the device you register/pay on, if you register and pay for it on your TV it should work (you may need to start early in the morning though in doing that with a remote), if you have done that then I am indeed wrong. I'm not sure you can buy the pass on a laptop/tablet/phone and then watch it on your smart TV.
Don't forget the Mooney classic of making some tenuous link with one of the opposition players and a club he played at/coached
I normally pay on my laptop and then bring the website up on my TV and it plays fine. For some reason it is a black screen at first but if you maximise the screen in the bottom right hand corner the video will then play fine. Again, you might have to unmute on top left as well but it definitely works on Smart TVs
OK, I was talking ******** then, tick that off the list Horace. Thanks for correcting me politely Timbers.
I don't seem to be able to cast with my current phone. Never had any trouble with my last phone so could be the brand's aren't compatible or something. Ah ok - thanks for the tip. I'll give it another go next time we aren't on normal TV. Consider it ticked off
My guess is that the number of people watching collapsed as performances became increasingly dire and Deeneyball strangled the life out of the team. I wouldnt be surprised if the club was hugely embarrassed by the numbers which may even have dropped to triple figures. Emma is a great presenter and I love Mooney so make allowances for him not always being on the money. I thought Hive live after the Bristol game was hilariously North Korean in their refusal to mention the elephant in the room. Everyone was thinking it, but no one would say it. 'The new system' has become a polite euphemism for 'not playing Troy'.
It's a decent effort overall - but my feedback was it needs to be less positive propaganda and more analysis led. I thought Andy Collins was a cracking guest as he just told it as he saw it. Otherwise, simple apps or casting via the usual platforms would be low cost and a much better customer experience. Oh...and Emma's 'nervous hands' when she's presenting make me really want to encourage her that she's doing a v.good job! If you don't know what I mean...you'll see it next time!
Hive Live coverage is better than the Sky red button option because of the camera angles. But in terms of the pre match build up/post match analysis I rarely listen to it on any channel let alone Hive Live.
Mooney needs to stop name-dropping about how he's scouted every player under the age 0f 23 in the world while working for Sunderland/Walsall/Villa/West Hyde Junior School Under 9s, or droning on about shape, or implying he's still an elite athlete who doesn't eat chocolate cake. If he really wanted to show his devotion to abstinence and the monastic way of life then he should take a vow silence and button his cake hole. It would be nice if the commentator's adopted a more radio-style description of the match for those of us who refuse to give money to Sky and live to too far away from the 3CR transmitters to pick up Derek Payne and co, which is probably most of Watford these days. It's nice to see some of the older players in the studio, particularly from GTs first time in charge, but generally the constant attempts at trying to flog stuff or trying out the latest trend in supporter participation leaves me stone cold.
I pay to watch the game and I think their coverage is fine, so the rest is a bonus of sorts. But their build up stuff is just so bland, and it does seem like a stage managed attempt to avoid the slightest bit of controversy. The Q&A's are mostly just embarrassing and cringeworthy. If WFC are concerned with their Hive numbers they just need to be more honest, transparent and interesting. As it stands, we just know that we will miss nothing if we wait until kick-off to tune in, or for some, not to even tune in at all. A regular insight into what is going on behind the scenes so we can learn something over and above pure speculation would be interesting and watchable, and pundits that can be more honest about what they are seeing on the pitch (without the hyperbole) would be a great help as currently I think they are just scared to be critical in any way. It is like a North Korean TV production of a game involving their national team. However, the above won't happen, and they will just have to be content with the low numbers.
