For me this whole James Garner leaving for QPR rumour is ridiculous, he said himself in an interview that he didn’t expect to play as much as he has this season. Also, he needs to learn that he can’t just leave a club as soon as he’s not getting played, he needs to fight for his place.

Now I agree as much as anyone that he’s overall been poor during this loan spell, but I would keep him as we probably won’t sign another midfielder this window let alone find someone to replace Garner.

I would be interested to see him play under Xisco. But then again he looked out of his depth in a 3 so playing in a 2 would be pretty brutal for him and us.

No loss. Garner has a higher reputation than he deserves. He’s played in 22 games. We’ve only played 26 matches.

They are being too precious over him and his show of dissent after not coming on is an indicator that he’s not what we need, in either ability or attitude.

I don't disagree with any of that. I just hope that some extra wiggle room with wages off the wage bill and the now heightened need for an extra body in midfield will enable us to bring in someone else (and better)

Losing Garner AND Capoue and replacing them with just one player (if that) would be a typical ‘Gino wool over the fans eyes’ tactic. If it’s just one CM coming in, it needs to be a great signing who is a starter every week IMO. I don’t see them doing that. If Henri Lansbury is the waters we are fishing in, then we can kiss goodbye to any dream that Gino is gonna pull something big off.

Everyone needs to look very carefully at the words used in that statement in the summer. They’ve already reneged hard on some parts of it with the coaching situation and Giaretta’s involvement being the same as Giraldi’s by all accounts - and are now showing the signs of rowing back on other parts of the statement in this window.

We will make changes where the team is concerned and those changes will make us stronger...Rest assured, we will do everything in our power to take Watford Football Club back to the Premier League.’

More fool anyone who trusts a single word they say. 72hrs left for them to try and change that opinion.

    Place your bets now...

Nothing wrong with losing both players in the unlikely event that the player who comes in is good enough. I'm not convinced that anyone will be - Capoue was that good (although as an older player on a high wage who wasn't keen to stay I understand why they sold him) - but getting rid of Garner to help bring in someone who can improve the first team is fine by me.

TBF I was editing my post as you replied to say something similar.

But if Garner is just replaced with another as-yet-unproven youngster, it means we are still weaker than when we went into the window in that position. There’s the odd name like Gilmour as you’ve said - but do we really see that happening? I don’t. Thoroughly depressing names like Lansbury are being thrown around, not genuinely exciting ones.

A big crux to all this is we continually have head coaches who nod along to anything they are given. Someone will come in like Lansbury because it’s at least another body at training and the coach will eulogise about how good they are - but you know deep down they aren’t the name or level a respectable coach wants.

Ochieng is his replacement and I'm more than happy with that.

More worried about the numbers and squad size than the actual fact it’s Garner we are losing.

    Seems to be confirmed now.

  13. He needs to grow up, and I'd rather than was done far away from us

He's decent but nothing more, Hughes and Chalobah are better

Fair enough. It doesn’t look like Lansbury - seems to be heading to Bristol City. Leventhal mentioned a few players today: Grimes, Nakamba, Siliki, Delph and Lansbury. Not sure about Delph and Grimes certainly seems incredibly implausible. But I’d be pretty happy with Nakamba or Siliki (although I don’t quite get it as those players are quite different).

I don’t mind that the head coach generally isn’t v involved in recruitment but Munoz’s comments on Garner this morning show someone being left completely in the dark.

I know we've all lost faith lately in our transfer dealings, but SURELY not even we would agree to terminate the loan unless we already had another midfielder in the bag. Losing Garner and Capoue in the window and not adequately replacing them would be criminal.

Nope, would just be another window that Gino has screwed us in.

At this point I would be more surprised with a quality signing than not sign anyone.

If we do sign someone it will be a hasbeen who will just be a squad filler rather than a starter.

Fear not. Munoz is excited about giving Phillips lots of starts.

Do we have any say in it though if ManUre decide to pull the plug on the loan? Depends on the terms of the contract I'd have thought.

Mutual agreement would indicate that a replacement has been found. Odds are we'll be scrambling around on Monday evening though as Xisco starts with Cleverley, Chalobah and Hughes all in the team again.

The article said it is being terminated by mutual consent, but you're absolutely right that we don't know for sure how much say we have over it.

Just as predictable as the last 3. Remember the genius Pozzo deciding the solution 12 months ago was Pussetto for £5million and him alone? Not even another loan on top. And then loaning Pussetto back to Udinese for nothing in the summer to leave us even more potless.

What a disgraceful incompetent Pozzo is. Cannot wait until he is gone.

Good riddance. Nowhere near good enough for a team chasing promotion. Not even Championship standard, I'd argue.

Will never play for Man U despite their moronic fans' pleas to the contrary. They can drool over him as he ends up in their reserves before leaving at age 22 for York City or something.

Yet another example of our ludicrous transfer policy.

He was rubbish but it's not a good look for Xisco to give an interview asking him to be patient and then the loan be terminated a few hours later. Really undermines his authority.

Doesn't undermine his authority, but does demonstrate he has as much knowledge of what's going on as the fans do. He's clearly not part of the decision making on who stays, goes, signs.

Well if Man U want him back they can do what they like afterwards.

    Cannot really complain.

Have to be done by Sunday though.
