Articles and threads I've read over the last few days, linked to the Pozzos, and more importantly, the memory of GT, led me to the Watford Legends interview with GN-W. What he wants for the future of the Club is what I want for the future of the Club. All of a sudden, the owners we've got, the division we're in? I don't give a stuff. I want our Club to be a club that once again is big enough (in a little club way) to give a debut to a striker aged 16 years and 247 days. That's your FC Real Watford. Right there.
The club is a million miles away from the GT era. In defence of the club I think football as a whole has become so greedy and monstrous in England that it’s become toxic and deeply unlikeable, so it’s not just our club.
Gifton just has an innate goodness about him. Nowadays kids get big for their boots as soon as they sign pro contracts. Not saying Gifton would have become a millionaire overnight, like some nowadays, but he was always grounded and a pro. Any coach that worked with him would say the same. Shame he never reached his full potential because of that **** Butler.
I was thinking of that utter **** yesterday when I was cleaning the bath. Monstrous tackle or assault really.
He was heard saying what he intended to do. It was premeditated. Effectively ended a young player's career because he was jealous and threatened. The worst scum imaginable.
It would not hurt the club to have some of our best forwards of yesteryear and GNW would have been that but for the bastardo Butler coaching our strikers at age group level. They have a wealth of experience, tricks and knowledge to pass on. And imbue some of their own values to impressionable younger players.
Was nice hearing him on hive talk about GT and how GT made him the man he was. Genuinely touching story about GT giving him money when he was 16 skint and just had a kid
I think its theoretically possible that we could survive as a club without becoming toxic snd deeply unlikeable. Not sure what the odds are right now!
It would be nice to try. I don't care for the PL in the slightest, I'd far rather we were a likeable and steady Championship/L1 team. This current mob are a hangover from the PL. The land of milk and honey really isn't worth it.
