2 nights ago I had a dream about Andre Gray (Im genuinely not making this up) he received the ball with his back to goal about 25 yards out, he turned superbly and fired in a perfect shot. It was comfortably saved by the keeper. it has to be said if Andre can't in my d Burnsy, I genuinely hope u have as good a christmas as possible under the circumstances. Take care.
I can’t read 22 pages to get up to speed on this appointment Is the consensus that the new bloke going to set up the team to score goals, get Sarr playing as an attacking winger; or is going to throttle the joy out of this campaign like the last guy. If the former its a yes from me. I nothing about him, but it could have been worse like a Mark Hughes type of appointment. As a nobody we can bin this guy at the end of the season good or bad.
The Mark Hughes test. If you'd rather have him as your manager then you can 100% say it's a bad choice.
Well that first press conference was like someone had created a Spanish coach by feeding Javi and Quique's previous press conferences through AI. "Very, very happy... give the maximum... amazing players... I know the objective... amazing fans"
The question is will he attack with 2 up-front, so effectively pushing Sarr into an ineffective midfield role, or go with a 4-2-3-1 formation playing Sarr in his preferred wide attacking role but leaving TD isolated flicking the ball on to the oppo each time ? Time will tell.
That’s a useful rule of thumb for assessing many tricky questions. Would I like to try Covid 19? To trap my bolloks in an escalator? Thermonuclear war? No, still haven’t found a scenario where I’d prefer Mark Hughes.
Since none of us no anything about the bloke, and we know nothing about what really happens in Training and on the touchline under any manager and since he's at least ex[pereinced enough to say nothing but cliches at a press conference.... The consensus is nothing. Now in terms of giving us something to argue over and show our internet toughness and intelligence... he's just what the fans wanted. Brilliant hire. My own worthless opinion: If Masina, Hughes and Sarr stay healthy - the bloke will look like an inspired choice. If not, he'll look like another crap one. Neither changes the necessity for a clear out no later than season's end.
The Watford head coach role is now on a par with those poor saps who had to clean the roof at Chernobyl. Good luck Xisco, I think you’ll need it
Ah, that's a shame, never mind. It is a genuine question though and been an issue all season so far. 4-4-2/5-3-2 doesn't suit Sarr. 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 doesn't suit TD or Gray.
https://trainingground.guru/articles/lee-johnson-evolution-of-a-manager "I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in the relatively near future there’s a robot manager, with subs made based on physical and technical data. 'If player x comes on, your expected goals will go up 4%.' Someone will try it, genuinely." Make it happen Gino.
I love that people are now trying to rationalise this absolutely criminal act of negligence. He smiles and seems nice, so that justifies putting our club's future in his completley unqualified hands. Hopefully a sign of Gino getting ready to sell up and piss off. That's all I'm clinging to.
They were pressed into carrying out multiple shifts when they shouldn't have been allowed to. Just like Quique.
Realistically there was no other manager with any level of experience at this level or experience in the English game available. No one. They are all busy. I hope he's a success not because of the continued success of the club but because I can come here and claim I called it all along.
4231 Perica up front Deeney behind him Sarr wide right Pedro wide left Capoue & Hughes in front of a back four right to left of Ngakia Cathcart Kabesele Sema/Kiko
No I’d much rather have a Spanish nobody manager that Mark Hughes, I mean what has the latter ever done as a manger in British football? Kept a few clubs up. Hughes had a purple patch at Blackburn for two seasons by getting his team to kick the opposition off the park. I just hope this new bloke is more Zola than Quique.
I’m working on the basis that Boothroyd was great when he knew eff all squared about anything, but once he’d learned the boss game he was dreadful. Expect a rapid rise and fall for Munez.
Not looking to start a WFCForums "LR vs Burnsy" or "Moose vs ZZ" style bust up Moog but who would you have appointed who you think would genuinely have taken the role ? He may be an inexperienced shot in the dark but better that than an out of work failed champ manager desperately looking for another job ? I don't think we're a very attractive proposition now we're a skint champ team with a trigger-happy owner. And anyway, he's got a nice smile....
As I've speculated elsewhere, I wonder if us bringing in a Spanish speaking coach now has something to do with not only maybe bringing back some of our Spanish speaking loanees, but also with how much easier it'll be to bring in players from South America from January?
If we are in such a state that we have to accept appointments of random blokes from the streets of central Asian cities, then the questions should be far far deeper than merely over this appalling appointment.
Agreed. If we ever reach that sort of scenario then questions would need to be asked. Fortunately we haven’t. You didn’t say who we should have appointed ?
We haven't literally recruited a random guy from the streets of an Asian city. We've recruited an ex Spanish La Liga player with limited but successful coaching experience in a minor league. He's a leftfield appointment but I don't see many better alternatives with a successful record at our level who would work in the Pozzo model. By your response I guess you can't either ? Cheer up. It's ****ing Xmas .
The fact that your requirements are for me to name someone who would come to a basket case of a club where they are guaranteed to be undermined by the players and sacked is my point. We've created a role that only an entirely unfit candidate would be prepared to work. Can I name one? No, because anyone I can name will ellicit the response 'they wouldn't come here, we can't afford them, they wouldn't work under the Pozzo model.' We are scraping the ground underneath the bottom of the barrel and your jazzing up of this guy's 2 line CV doesn't hide that. Merry Christmas.
