Ground out another away point. As others have said, win at home and pick up a few points away and we might do it. As I said before the season started and what appears to be coming true, this is going to be a grind fest of a season. It is what it is, decent point I suppose. One last point, I honestly think Chalobah is one of the worst players I have seen in a Watford shirt in recent times. He's negative (backwards and sideways passing), he's slow, he's lazy on the ball, he lacks concentration, his tackling leaves a lot to be desired as we saw this evening and his passing intelligence when he tries to do a ball that isn't backwards or sideways is woeful. He has the odd average game, but more often than not he's rubbish. At least before he went off in the last match Gray ran about a bit. Chalobah will take root soon if he's not careful.
The negative style of play is nothing compared to your endless drivel/negativity. Perhaps look up context and then apply it to your future posts. It would probably make them more palatable.
We can't just keep relying on drawing away and winning at home, at some point our good home run will come to an end (we've already ridden our luck a few times at home this season). Besides, if you play for a draw, 9 times out of 10, the best you're gonna get is a draw - one mistake and that draw becomes a defeat
There are two teams, remember. When you've lost 3 on the bounce, you'll give everything for a 0-0 and with an excellent, marshaling Joe Worrall at the back you'll probably get it. Only way to win these games is to have a bit of luck or flair like Pedro at Derby. Didn't happen today but we did a hell of a lot better than Muff (home defeat) and Norwich (scum defeat). Exceptionally dull, though.
No but at least have a ******* go at your hosts who are happy to sit back- dont sit back and do **** all as well. Literally half of that team were playing in the prem 4 months ago and we didnt lay a glove on a team rock bottom on confidence
Norwich have an injury crisis and are unable to name a full bench, they won't continue to drop points like this. How ******* happy must they be to have got through these games still top?
I'll post it as I see it. Simple as. You can be yet another dribbler to single me out but you won't have to look far to see people who are utterly sick of our lifeless performances, both on this forum and off it. Don't act like it's not a pretty widely held opinion and just "drivel" from me to fit your little narrative.
Home form has obviously been good results wise but still plenty of dull as dishwater games and performances. Every single away game has been appalling to watch. Add that to a number of home games that have been similar and you have a team that is horrendous to actually watch play the majority of the time.
Obviously that was dull as dishwater but we have no other options really given the state of the squad. We've changed formation which we were all calling for but we don't have our best creative outfit so far this season in Sema and we don't have our two best central midfielders in Capoue and Hughes. We also can't really rotate as we have no cover on the bench. We looked tired and sloppy tonight but I don't think we were deliberately set up to go for the draw. If we had a full squad, Pedro would've been rested more, possibly even Sarr too. We certainly wouldn't be playing Chalobah every single game. The only positions we could change things up a bit with at the moment are centre backs and forwards (should maybe give Perica more time). Every other area of the squad has threadbare cover and we are playing twice a week, every week. I think it's unfair to judge Ivic given the players he's had at his disposal since Day 1. We have never had anywhere near a full squad and we are one point off the top.
I’m going to just pretend I’m in America and support an NFL team, they get 16 regular season games. I’m just going to watch the home games and forget the others even exist.
The issue isn't the squad when we're away. There is a clear directive from Ivic to play it safe. We can be boring at home but it is absolutely clear that Ivic has absolutely no interest in risking losing a point for the gain of three when we're away and the team plays as such.
As I've been pointing out in the Champ thread, they've been jammie dodgers/riding their lack so far in the league even while they've had a full squad. I'd still be surprised if they end up top 2. PS to those questioning my now replying to other posts in this thread - I've now read through it (after having made my earlier post "blind"), and kind of regret it.
Let’s take the away point and never speak of this match again. That’s all I have to say about this one.
Who hasn't lol, we've had less than a handful of genuinely good performances this season (with massive caveats attached to those and all), and I'm sure Bournemouth would say the same. Brentford seem to have had some excellent performances, but also some woeful ones. God this division is so hard to predict...
Goodness. I wasn't expecting to see a performance like that at a midweek away game against average opponenents. It's only two more points dropped that might have come in handy at the season but not to worry.
Well your, unfortunate, narrative is just endless criticism and that is just DULL. Nicely placed in the league with points being picked up home and away even with lots of players missing and an unbalanced squad. Context could take you to a whole new dimension-go on give it a go
Except I'm not complaining about the league position, am I? It's irrelevant to my point which is that, regardless of the league position, our football is so painful to watch that it is impossible to be excited. I could not give a crap what the league table says when the actual football is completely hideous the vast majority of the time. The fun in football is supposed to come in watching, you know, the actual football, not looking at the league table.
The league table is irrelevant if what we are watching is mind numbingly shyte. What's the point of being 3rd if we are unwatchable?
Just as an aside - I agree with the away form, it’s dull and not what a promotion chasing side should be chasing in terms of binary results. I can understand being hard to beat away, but that’s gotta turn into wins soon otherwise it’ll tail off quite quickly especially given we’re a third of the season through now. I think the side is starting to click at home - It’ll be interesting to extrapolate the home form up until the new year, but given the amount of goals recently, steps in the right direction for performances it’s promising to say the least. As I alluded to earlier, I think there’s a wider problem with overexposure of football especially given the current pandemic and someone deciding “let’s have football every day for almost 15 months” baring in mind we have the euros. That and given the sterile atmosphere and reserve-level feel around games it’s really not helping. I’d be curious though to see how other teams fans are faring as an example Leeds, who polar opposite - Had a league win to celebrate versus our relegation before faring pretty ok in the prem against our “HMS PTL” amongst some of our fans given the very short turnaround and their expectations. One of those that’s probably for a wider post though - And to cut it completely short. Yes the away football is **** at the moment.
I'm not sure I agree. Perica for Quina was an attacking sub tonight, certainly. It didn't work but I can't work out how much of this is down to Ivic and how much is a squad that hasn't really gelled yet. Either way, it's obviously an issue that we're playing so poorly away from home and we can't rely on a home record like our current one all season so Ivic has a big problem to solve. And he has made like for like, or negative substitutions in the past. Tonight he didn't but still didn't get a reaction.
Hmm, think a 19 year old striker scoring a late goal for his loan club is generally considered good news
Is it simply that we've not had a full-strength squad to pick from this season? Can we expect more attacking displays away from home when they're back? Chalobah and Garner are both ridiculously inconsistent, in one way I can understand the logic of being safety-first away from home given they're as likely to put in an absolute stinker as they are to play well, although there are only so many games we can simply accept dropping two points in...
I mean, even Perica for Quina was like for like effectively. A striker for a wide player, with Pedro dropping back into the wide role instead. We constantly slow things down away from home and pass sideways and backwards. It's very noticeable. It's something Ivic has to be purposely instructing.
Sorry but most of the games have had something to watch and enjoy. Defending is a major part of the game and Ivic inherited a team which couldn't do that.He has turned that around quite quickly which means he has increased his chance of achieving his,and indeed the owners, objective-promotion. I loved watching the Zola team but we didn't get promoted. If we don't achieve that this season we will be in the financial shi* so this season has to be about getting results and being back in the PL next season. We don't need Mr Personality to do that but someone who gets the job done.To my eyes Ivic is doing that so I'm happy for exciting home performances being followed by defensive away ones and the points tally to keep on increasing.
