Yes, I think 2 of the original members formed the Korgis a couple of years after Stackridge officially disbanded in 1977ish...although there'd been an almost total revamp of the line up a few years before that. To my 14 & 15 year old ears the live performances of "Do The Stanley" & "Let There Be Lids" were great fun. But a bit like another Watford Tech regular band, Osibisa, their records did not have the same impact as their live performances.
No wonder you're making a mark on the daily quiz! (just not today) https://www.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=87656
Too much obscure USA gumph again today. Looking forward to the 1oth & 11th Century British History editions...
This isn’t so much a must win game but what is a must is a good performance. Bournemouth are the only half decent team we’ve played, if we’d hung on against them it would’ve actually looked like a great performance, easily soaking up their pressure and having the better chances, but we didn’t and it ends up looking like a performance very similar to QPR, score, try and hang on, concede. We need to see a response from Ivic and the players, I wouldn’t mind drawing or losing if we turn in a decent performance, if we don’t then it’s very difficult to see where things are going.
Our midfield combination has yet to be right to work well and only when it does will the team gel. Until then and the breaks are taken off expect continued stodge, keeping in the league race until a sprint for the line at the end of the season. I think we have all forgotten what the standard of the Championship was and for me it has been a disappointing reminder. Another tight game going any of 3 ways with very little to get anyone jumping out of their seat about. Good news about crowds from next week. I will cross my fingers for getting a ticket!
My research tells me you are right... I could have sworn it was just the 3 of them and not him. I went to see them in Manchester in the mid 90s and definitely wasn't there then.
I agree home results hae been good but 2 of those wins were lucky. I just feel the quality of our play, the effort, the passion, the will to keep pushing their bodies to make the extra effort to get into forward positions.... Its just not there. Every team this season has out fought us, looking for any moment of pressure to catch us out. We play like we know we are better, we won't play scrappy, and we know we can out pass the oppo..... But we don't. The thing is you're right in what you say, and we are in a decent position, BUT we saw this level of form/attitude last season, and it just has not changed... And yes we might just scrape 6th if we're lucky, but it still feels cr@p to watch..
I do agree the performances hasn't been good enough for a squad of our quality. That is certain and it seems Vlad knows that but won't change much to improve things.
Before the window closed I was hoping we'd sign an LB and a CM. Still wishing we had. Without Hughes back I can't see us having the aggression and bite in the middle we need in this league. We just aren't playing through or around teams, don't have the quality. So need to scrap a little more and use the strengths we have a lot more. Would love to understand what kinds of goals we're trying to score when we get possession.
Hoof it to the ex-blob or the OAP. Plan B is pass to the flank and hope Gray can out sprint a defender to toe poke or deflect it in.
Well quite. Maybe people were wrong to expect us to romp the league and win most games by 2/3 goals. I certainly don't think our midfield atm (Capoue should be but hasn't performed) is as good as others and the strikers are a bit hit and miss although Sarr should excel. Mind you with any team only winning 1 game away from home and scoring 4 goals against some pretty average side is pretty disappointing.
We are absolutely dreadful away from home and we're away to a team above us in the table. Nothing should be more certain than a limp 2-0 loss. However, if there is one thing my years of supporting Watford has taught me is that football simply doesn't work like that. So often when we're sure of a win we lose and so often when we're sure of a loss we win. I'm actually feeling good about this one, I think we can only improve on the last game and as such I'm going to give a rare, serious prediction for once. Prediction Bristol City 1-2 Watford Sarr (23), Deeney (pen 78, not sent off 90+3)
I hope you are right but I have a bad feeling about this and would take a point but I fear a 0-2 defeat.
