Wonder if he's looking to bin off playing. Being a championship bench warmer isn't going to be good for his media career, so he might need to act now. Jack it in, blame the knees, get a pay off and head to the pundit trough.
He's hardly going to be motivated if he's doing this radio show thing every day. Also a daily column in the Sun? Where's the time for his footy?
Yeah, the most interesting thing he had to say was to hint at how he might have spoken to Jose at our friendly. What he has to say about his football career is going to rapidly decline from that point onwards.
As I understand his Talksport guest role is only on Monday mornings, but even that I don't really see how it tallies with the small matter of training, unless you're basically freely admitting that you aren't as focused on it as you could be. That'll be unsurprising to a lot of people, and plenty won't be bothered if it leads to him making even fewer appearances than he might have done otherwise, but it's once again not a great look for what he professes about himself and his desired role at whatever club he is representing/stuck at because no one else would have him whatever dance he did in the window at the passers-by.
Footballers don't train 9-5 monday to friday. Their job is not like an office drone, like the rest of us saps.
I've also heard he's going to be the pundit on Hornet's Hive tonight........unbelievable. How could he!!
The Sun already running tailored content for Deeney: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12980174/briitain-fattest-man-lifted-by-crane/
Will we never play on a Tuesday this season then? You’d assume if we do then we might well have a training session the day before, possibly starting in the morning.
That could be a tread on its own - Except the ???? against ???? which in hindsight would have kept us up! Last season had so many situations where we blew points that would of kept us up.
Should have binned off this ***** years ago. Just get rid of him, FFS terminate his contract for all I care. Has offered nothing for years, has nothing to offer now. Our "Captain". Makes me sick
Writing for The Sun is incredibly grim and you'd hope that the backlash will make him reconsider. Doubt it though. The only positive is how funny it is to see the racists on here and Twitter tying themselves up in knots by using this as an excuse to criticise Deeney even though he's writing for their favourite newspaper.
I mean, I’d suggest it’s probably likely that his new gig will be flexible enough to allow him to miss shows that clash with his training/match schedule. I don’t think what he’s doing is a good idea. But I doubt TalkSport will insist he appears if his club expect him to be playing/training.
I personally don’t care either, just pointing out that despite footballers not working 9-5, a Monday morning training session must be fairly common place.
It wouldn't shock me if the club were supportive of this. They could very likely view it as free marketing, i.e. "there's no such thing as bad publicity" and all that. No professional athlete, especially one at Troy's age - can train 5-6 hours a day. It's arguable that this is better then finding more destructive amusements. Unfortunately, it is likely that he'll say all sort of controversial and stupid things.... but as we've seen over the past few years in politics, people tend to have a 48 hour memory on that sort of thing - unless they're also in the media.
Troy in the studio on Hive live tonight. Saying he was very close to leaving. He has just mentioned Luther's record of goals (he's 21 behind). So who knows, maybe he will put the effort in when he plays.
