If we'd have just waited, we could have sold Craig Dawson for £40m, shame

However they might move Robertson inside to CB and purchase Sarr as a replacement LB.

By then he'll have 10 weeks of experience of playing there for us under his belt.

Au contraire. Losing Dawson was one of the best things Gino's done in a long time.

For once Nath I agree with you.

Sarr reminds me of the Harry Enfield Character KEVIN the stroppy petulant 14 year old Chav. When he thinks he has been fouled he stops dead has a strop and virtually stamps his foot just like a stroppy teenager, rather than getting on with the game.

Hopefully he just needs a rest as he has played in nearly every game and has also been away with his international team twice and played 4 games for them. Maybe Vlad should leave him out for a game or two, then perhaps he might start playing like we know he can. However, if that does not work maybe we should take what we can get for him in the January window and invest that in a more mature winger.

Blimey he only scores a goal on average every four games. So only likely to get 10 or 11 for a full season. At 22 he is never going to get better under Ivic. Recoup what we paid and use the money to buy the entire Brentford£ under 23 team.

if we ar3 lucky Arsenal will sell Pepe and meet our full £40 million valuation. If so we can buy an entire first team squad.

I’m not sure you can blame Ivic for how Sarr is playing. It’s not in any managers interests to make what was a once an explosive player play so disgustingly bad.

His whole attitude stinks, he’s scared to try and beat a man, it’s pathetic.

Look at a player like Pogba, has obviously fallen out with plenty of managers in his time, but he still tries to prove them wrong by demonstrating some actual footballing ability every now and then. There is no way Ivic is telling Sarr to basically be ****.

If we aren't attacking he doesn't want to know really which is natural for a young winger I think.

He defensive work is exceptional and more often than not is getting marked by a couple of opposition players. He’s kicked off the park normally very early in a game which most refs have been to scared to penalize the opponent so early in a game. All this at a young age not having any protection from the officials I’d be frustrated too. When on his game he’s a great player. At times his touch has let him down but mostly away from home. With the opposition groundsman maybe putting extra water down or in some cases having longer grass to stop us passing the ball with ease.

Conspiracy theories as to why we're so bad away from home now is it, rather than what we can plainly see in front of us.

    What?

Pogba is literally a pretty close analogy to what you’re describing Sarr as doing..

Echoing the above. Pogba is the epitome of a luxury player and is berated for his lack of effort and measurable output. He's a complete joke.

The only "world class" player who can be consistently crap for four years and still somehow receive that label.

No conspiracy it’s known home clubs will do various stuff to intimidate or cause a distraction. Crazy gang in the 80’s for example. And you can’t deny he’d getting hacked down early on in games but that’s been home and away.

Not making excuses for him, just defending him. He’s by far our best threat and the opposition know this. If he’s sold in Jan and not replaced then play offs at best.

I've been as frustrated by Sarr as anyone else this season, but he's still a huge asset for us, a) for the times where he has proved a massive threat (and there have been plenty of those this season, albeit he's not been absolutely tearing defenders a new ******** every time) and b) even if he is playing badly, having two wingers who the opposition knows can hurt them makes such a huge difference. Remember last season when we were dynamite with both Sarr and Geri in the team yet ***** when even one of them was missing? I'm sure the mere presence of Sarr makes it easier for King Ken to terrify defences, and vice versa (even if Sarr hasn't been as much of a threat as KK this season)

It could be that there is a groundsman conspiracy to stop our total football. Or it could be that we are just poor and lack basic concentration and technique to pass the ball from A to B. Take your pick.

Can that be used as an excuse for Sarr being unable to consistently deliver a decent ball into the box?

Sarr isn't playing badly because he's not trying, his attitude has been first class and his defensive work is the best in the team. We clearly all just thought he's a lot better than he currently is - he probably will still end up that good. He's playing without confidence and having the stuffing kicked out of him for good measure.

Needs a rest and some belief.

And he needs to play in a system that, you know, utilises his most obvious USP...speed. Release the ball earlier into space bhind the full back and get up in support. Ivic doesn't like the fact that we will often concede possession that way, but the times we don't will result in chances being created.
How many times have we seen the midfield NOT play the quick forward ball into the space for him to run onto? I don't think he's a dribbler in the GD mould, but he is good at timing runs into the space behind the full back to get into dangerous positions.
We are just not playing that way. No wonder he looked pi55ed off.

Bit of both. As annoying as it is to watch these pros shin a pass that my u-10’s are expected to pull off or have a ***** first touch which makes Andre gray look good. Both teams were as bad as each other last night.

It’s not consistently bad. He’s delivered plenty of good balls and a lot of the time nobody there to get on the end of it. Forest game was different but he had a poor night, wasn’t the only one to play poor. Frustrating but we never lost and Saturday will be here soon enough to make amends

That's one of the down sides of only seeing games on TV. We usually cannot see if the pass was on, and not taken, or if there was no one to pass to. When you are at the game you can see the whole pitch and know what pass could of been made. Seeing it on TV I just get frustrated we are not moving the ball forward better but can't always tell the reason.

Oddly I think he'd be more at home playing as a right back. Seems to thrive on the defensive side of things, and look lost while attacking.

I wouldn't be surprised if later in his career that's where he ends up playing. Has all the attributes you would want

I think Sarr thrives on getting in behind the full-back and doing his destructive work there - and Championship managers are wise to it and have their defensive lines sat deeper to minimise the space he can work in - he hasn’t yet really been a player that consistently goes past his marker yet for us. A few times yes, but not with any regularity. That’s what he needs to change.

He needs to start going past people rather than trying find space which isn’t there and then sulking when he can’t find it.

As for saying ‘take whatever we can get for him’ - plainly that’s just stupid. Writing him off because he’s in sketchy would be a ridiculous route to take. By all means if clubs return with big money then fair enough...but taking less because of a few bad games? Nah.

As much as I can be negative, we do need to remember he’s young and not the finished article. Same goes for Quina and Joao Pedro. To realise their potential, at times we are gonna have to take the rough with the smooth.

But I can easily accept that Sarr needs to do more to snap himself out of it. His current form is quite emblematic of out away woes - he/we sit back and expect the game to come to us rather than grabbing it by the scruff of the neck and effecting it pro-actively.

I dunno. Have to say spend £30m on someone and they are 22 after a few seasons in top flights you would think he would take championship by scruff of the neck. He’s been very very disappointing. That said the squad is so bare he is first name on team sheet so selling him would be conceding defeat. We need him to come good.

As an opposition manager the task to stop Sarr is easy. Just put a few hard tackles on him early, and he will be less likely to try and go past defenders and more likely to pass back /sideways. Simples. Maybe he is trying to avoid tackles so he is fit for a January move.

I don't see it as that inconceivable. He knows how to defend, and would probably benefit from using his pace from deep. Its not as if he's a particularly outstanding attacker

We have people saying he's 'exceptional' at defending (not seen that) and then other people saying he hides if he's tackled....quite the juxtaposition of viewpoints there.

If we had Toney he'd be in double-digits for assists already this season.
