Changed the game when he came on at Vicarage Road last season. At Championship level he’d be the absolute nuts; a great signing. I think we were after him when he left Birmingham for Leicester, so now that they’ve signed a few wingers and he’s gone down in the pecking order I can believe that we’ve at least inquired. Unfortunately I think he’ll be out of our price range and may even tempt a lower PL side.
Surest sign yet Andre is going. Replace with this lad then give him Andre’s old shirt number. All those thousands won’t have to turn up at the Vic demanding money back from the club shop for having gray printed on the back of their shirts. I put very little faith in these websites. I am sure Tielmans, who they bought for 30m and beat Man U and Arsenal to the signature of, is being paid the same amount as Matty James.
I assume you’re talking about his wage? A couple of weeks ago you said Deeney deserved the chance to run down his contract with us - yet according to the website linked, Deeney is on more money than Demarai Gray? Whilst I think it’s a nonsense rumour anyway, Gray hasn’t been a regular starter for Leicester so it’s likely he would have to accept his wage would probably drop anyway were he to move.
Yes you are correct, i did say that deeney should be allowed to run down his contract ,that was in respect of his loyal service. All i was trying to point out was that at this moment in time there is no way we are going to sign any players who warrant that sort of salary, this is reflected in our dealings so far .
Something else to consider about him is that, although he made 21 appearances in the league last season, that was only for a total of 607 minutes, which is a fairly shocking statistic when you consider that 21 full games adds up to 1,890 minutes (and, of course, there's nothing theoretically stopping him from playing more than 21 games other than being unable to earn a starting berth/hold down a place in the side). In that time he managed 2 goals and 3 assists in a team that was in the top-4 for the majority of the season and ended up finishing 5th; qualifying for Europe in the process. Still, whether he would actually smash the Championship is largely down to what his attitude would be like if he dropped into it, and he's never come across as a particularly intelligent or hard-working player; he barely appears to have progressed at all since that early explosion onto the scene at Birmingham. Given what he'd cost, I can't really see any substance in these rumours whatsoever, but obviously I could easily be completely wide of the mark.
Yes but the key thing is he's not cheap. We are only interested in the double-whammy of crap and cheap.
Well as long as he'll accept rock bottom wages, we could be in. 4 year contract of course. Good luck with the title challenge by the way. It's yours to lose now.
Already booked in with the tattooist mate. On the subject of Gray. I’m surprised at how many people rate him, not many Leicester fans do mind but some still think he could come good. All I’ve seen in the last four years is a flaky, meek wannabe CR7. He can be eye catching in that he runs with a nice straight back and does that flicky foot thing before he kicks the ball. Can’t beat a man, cross a ball or influence a game in which he’s started in any way whatsoever. Celtic or Rangers would suit him, he’d look as good as he thinks he is in the SPL.
https://twitter.com/JasonBourne1986/status/1308699452379721729 There's a chance Demarai Gray's time at Leicester City could come to an end in the not too distant future. I'm told a move could happen soon - not sure where but a number interested. I'm also told Hamza Choudhury may be heading out too - he's keen to play regularly after seemingly falling down the pecking order behind Ndidi and now Mendy. Player might prefer a permanent deal. Again not sure where yet but a number said to be interested. Despite the links away, both are in the match day squad tonight for the Haribo cup. Watford take note.
Choudhury is quite good, isn't he @Filbert? Would he be a target for Prem rather than Championship clubs?
