Do the club honestly expect anyone to believe that we have SEVENTEEN players genuinely injured/ill before the season's even started? It's also amazing how some players seem to have become "injured" in between our final game of last season and pre-season starting. Must have been a lot of trips and accidental falls in the few weeks between the two. Such bad luck. They are taking the fans for fools (a lot of them are, to be fair). A fire sale is clearly about to start and what makes it worse is that the club has tried spinning this bulls**t line about demanding immediate promotion and plastering the likes of Suarez and Estupinan over social media, whilst also looking to ship out them, and anyone and everyone else of any value, and refusing to spend a penny on any incomings. What exactly is the real aim this season? It most certainly doesn't look to be mounting a serious promotion challenge. F**king Jerome Sinclair on the bench. Give me strength. Told you Suarez would never play for us.
I don’t believe Gray is injured. Based on his recent performances he would miss any medical appointment in front of him
It does have the hallmarks of agents telling Suarez and Estupinan to show willing during pre-season but when it gets competitive, find little reasons to sit it out. I really hope I’m wrong - but I’ve watched enough episodes of these ‘fly on the wall’ shows that follow clubs (Sunderland, Spurs etc) to know what really goes on and that its highly unlikely.
Well I'm certainly not overly worried about Craig Dawson supposedly throwing a hissy fit and demanding a Premier League move (though I am concerned that nobody will want him lol). Would he a shame if Suarez genuinely is on his way, but we can get by without him, we are well stocked for players who can play as a striker (even taking away the other players that we expect to leave before the window slams shut). Worrying news about Estupinan, he's the only proper left wing-back we have at the club at the moment, I hope if he is to leave, that we a) get more than the £15m quoted, and b) make sure we get someone in to take that spot, Giannoulis would be good
I think the Pozzos learned from the flag waving cup final that we have a sizeable proportion of easily pleased fools in the fan base so treat them with the contempt they deserve. Why bother communicating any coherent strategy with a fanbase who will worship them come what may? They will do as they please and the fans will back them up.
Fire sale needs to happen at this point, the current situation is simply too disruptive Anyone who doesn't want to be here needs to be sold, with no exceptions
I was hoping that we'd be able to keep Suarez and Estupinan and be able to cash in on Deeney, Pereyra et al, but clearly the latter are proving more difficult to shift. Relegated teams selling players is a fact of life unfortunately, and Estupinan leaving would be a particular blow, but we just have to get on with it and adapt
I think you over think it. They will be hurting from being relegated, and signings not making them money. They don’t love Watford. They love the money. Contempt for the fans doesn’t come in to it. While they are invested. They will want the best for the club (and their bank balance)
The main thing that makes me doubt the Dawson rumours is that surely he realises he isn't good enough for the PL anymore? I could understand someone like Sarr refusing to play, but Dawson is pretty awful.
Picked up a 'knock', wasn't involved in the squad (though was at the stadium), Villarreal and Brighton rumoured to be in for him
Someone on Twitter has said we are on the verge of accepting £15m from Villarreal and that Brighton also sniffing about. Think that’s as far as it goes. Some people seem to be putting a lot of trust into one person on Twitter and what he says it seems. But even that one person is backtracking. Easily done sadly when you’re given info and then find it’s iffy. Minefield of info in a transfer window.
Us fans are sure getting taken for mugs. Anyone who believes all those players are injured all of a sudden needs their heads looking at. Player power is thriving and if true about Dawson you’ve got to wonder what’s happened this week. Seemed happy playing his part against spurs. Not that I’d care to much if he did go. But all these players that were promised the bright lights of premier league are starting to show their true colours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What a world we live in when some people accept a rumour on social media from some random bloke as gospel, but will immediately decry the club as lying when they put a squad status update out.
Quite. But there’s nothing wrong with Estupinan and Suarez, I’m quite confident with that. It’s horseplay from their agents and Watford haven’t been strong enough this summer I fear - the popularity of the offer of ‘you can leave if you want to’ may have gone beyond what they were expecting - and we are now desperately compensating as tonight’s line-up showed.
I honestly find that unlikely. There's no reason the club would lie just because the agents are playing silly buggers. They'd simply leave the players out without saying why, a la Deeney. If they were lying, there is no way Ivic would have made his post match comments that Estu would be back very quickly. There's no rhyme or reason to do that.
He wasn't in the one I saw earlier so must have been more than one. But he's just had knee surgery, so it's hardly difficult to believe he isn't fit given his track record of start-of-season fitness. He wasn't fit even when he didn't have surgery!
So we’re selling Dawson Estupinan Hughes Pereyra Deulofeu Welbeck Deeney Suarez Sarr The way that Gino is bending over and taking it, we will probably only make about £100mil. Feels like he is looking to sell the club. Did a similar thing to Granada before he sold. Stripped them of nearly all their assets before agreeing to a deal. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what he’s up too. Getting his money back before selling. Either way, this season feels like all the energy and life has just been sucked out of the club. Really is pathetic from our owners. Half tempted to see how much a plane with a message attached costs to fly over Vicarage Road at our next home game.
This is why the firewall between the committed and the turncoats is so important. It might mean we had a weak bench v Boro but we had a team of players who want to play for the shirt. Its the only basis on which we can move forward. But yes its painful to watch the rats jumping over each other to get off the ship.
£600 for plane with a banner. 5 weeks until the window closes. If I’m not impressed, then this is highly tempting. I’m genuinely sick of it. I know what the Pozzo’s have done, so I don’t need a lecture. They can still be held accountable for all the poor decisions they have made over the past 2 years. Mess this window up and they deserve all the protests and abuse.
I think you are wrong Nath. The senior / big boys - got us relegated, they can’t be bothered and have either decided to be “injured” Or aren’t wanting to play so be it. they can rot not playing. I don’t care if they go. Let’s build a team around youth with a coach that wants to do this.
I am genuinely not sure what people expect. We need the money, and prices are deflated due to Covid. If we refuse to sell and keep players against their will, then we will be in worse financial position. It’s interesting that the bed-wetters give no credit for discovering players like Pervis and Suraez etc. Anyone that doesn’t want to be there, then get rid and that includes Sarr. Anyone expecting a quick return to the Prem needs to reign in their expectation.
If players don't want to wear the shirt they can **** right off. I'm sure we have some. Players that do want to be here, like Cleverley, Chalobah, Quina, JP... should have our full support, and not have constant bitching and bollox about how rancid they are and how **** everything is going to be. **** off and go be a plastic scouser or manc if that's your attitude. Clearly you didn't follow Watford down the years and are a recent glory supporter.
I too wonder whether this could be a time for the pozzos to sell up. Have a big sale of all the PL players, pay out a huge dividend of all proceeds, then exit. The club will be as pre pozzo, but with better stadium and a similar squad level, but also parachute money adding to the value. Could make 250mio all in.
