To be fair I think your all being a bit harsh. That clip is one game where he was played out of position at right back. Let’s maybe not write the poor chap off before he has kicked a ball. Give him at least two touches in his first game before posting.

He may well be rubbish, but we all knew nothing about Angella, Ekstrand etc and they turned out ok...

 

It’s always all fine in the Pozzo fan world. As you identified this signing means that Cathcart/Kaba/Wilmot/Dawson are what we are going with. There is no intention to sign a first team centre back. We will just go with the 3 failures from last year. Hopefully Wilmot steps up eh?

 

We have to reduce costs, drastically, by tens of £millions. That means there is no magic money tree to buy in 6 brilliant centre backs. Those will have to do. Unless you fancy having a whip round for the club?

 

Obviously. We are going to sell a bundle of offensive players because our defenders are valueless to cut costs. It would be nice to dispose of Cathcart, who was dreadful in terms of performance last season, and make one centre back signing. Wilmot, Kaba, Dawson, new CB and this squad filler backup would feel okay.

But obviously any questioning of our chaotic owners means that I want to sign 6 world class centre backs. The usual tiresome response.

Although he's probably not an upgrade, he's probably not as ***** as he appeared at first glance. He's clearly one to put in the "bit of a punt" category, and ultimately he could be never used. However, it's encouraging that he seems comfortable on the ball, which is not something we are blessed with. All our centre backs just see the ball as an explosive device and want to get it as far away from them as quickly as possible .

Ivic's style is to play out from the back, which I actually hate. In my opinion all that does is give the opposition a chance to close you down and pinch the ball in a dangerous areas which will hurt you. You can only play that way if you have the very top players, who we don't have and never will. Still, we live in hope that it all works out for the best.

Currently in the Sopwell House quarantine facility, so is certainly a player who will be part of the squad this season.

 

There are quite a few short videos of him on YouTube that show his every contribution during games.

Definitely didn't look comfortable on the ball in the videos I've watched, actually reminded me of Mariappa - having to really concentrate on simple passes when under no pressure, then booting it to no-one when anyone came anywhere near him.

But worse than that, he seems to get turned very easily, looks rash and switches off positionally. The saving grace is that all these videos are from before his time at Empoli so maybe he's improved rapidly. But I'd be absolutely terrified of putting the younger version of him into the hurly-burly of the Championship.
