A Watford supporting friend of mine wandered past the store today and saw it in the window - he is someone who buys the shirts for his kids and while his opinion on the design is the same as mine, he did remark that the quality of the shirt looked far better than anything Adidas produced.

I didn’t know this but apparently Adidas and Nike do another type of shirt for their elite clubs? The one the players actually wear that is about £100?! He said that this version of our shirt seems like it’s that type of thing, hence the price point maybe being a bit more than previous years.

Nike and Adidas two model companies at exploiting the poorly paid although the latter are desperately trying to improve their image. Sordid history and the way they overprice their merchandise is amazing. I never knew people judged others by the trainers they wear rather than what they did with their lives and for others. Happy to pay fortunes for some to advertise their products while letting the people who make the actual items struggle on a pittance. And these then self proclaimed moral guardians as some of these stars see themselves lecturing people on social justice. The mind boggles.

But Nike and Adidas don't have a humiliating dog paw print for their logo that looks like Pedigree Chum have sneaked in a quick advert on the shirt. That's the cherry on the top of the huge steaming turd.

Somewhere, a marketing tosser who knows nothing about football has sat back, waiting for the plebs to take to the streets and shout "it's well clever", "them stripes are dead cool" and "I feel proper excited" at seeing this jumped up art school disaster.

Granted, the Kelme logo is utter ***** and if they want to improve their image and marketability, they'll have to have a rebrand going forward.

However, should we really care about whether or not our kit looks "humiliating"? I care about our players executing the game plan, getting promoted from this league but above all, playing with some ******* spine and passion.. something that has been missing from WFC for too long now. They can wear this Kelme kit or yellow, pink and orange stripes if they want, as long as they do the above I don't care how they look or what other fans think of our Kelme kit.

It reminds me of a yellow and black version of the Rising Sun Flag as used by the Imperial Japanese Army in WW2. Won’t be popular with our Korean fan base.

I don't think it's humiliating for the players - it's really just the same as going to a school with a horrible uniform. It's more humiliating for fans as they will get it ripped out of them.

It's not humiliating for the players. I doubt they care.

Is it humiliating for the fans? I really really don't think so. Why should you, I or any other Watford fan care what @bazswansea22 or @middlesbroughmick on Twitter say about our kit?

I'm more thinking the people I work with. At the end of the day (cliche alert) it's a football kit I have no intention of buying.

Kelme give us a ton of cash, a unique design shirt every year, sell our shirt in all their Asian shops... and you call that humiliating?

All the mainstream brands like Adidas were so interested in us they gave us .... templates. We’re not worth their time. That’s humiliating.

I don't consider myself old, but I now accept the world and life in general is passing me by. A number of people on here and elsewhere have expressed various degrees of satisfaction with the new shirt, while I just feel embarrassed that it is the worst design since the clown outfit for the supposed 'centenary' season (see my avatar photo).

A few days ago, I overheard two womens' hysterical discussion about a celebrity's outfit in a trashy magazine.

Some posts in this thread hugely resembles that conversation.

    Nail on head!

The trouble is that there are so many Adidas and Nike fanboys out there. Even if our shirt last year had a massive turd plastered on the front of it, they would have probably bought it if made by Adidas.

The Adidas execs meanwhile would have been sitting in some fancy office somewhere in London, laughing into their martinis and slapping eachother on the back at the thought that they had managed to mug off Watford and its fans by getting our supporters to give them free advertising.

It's a football shirt, not a party dress. It should be in the club's colours and with a club badge, but what other originality does it need? It shouldn't look like kids' pyjamas, that's for sure.

Ordered mine plus a my littl'uns first mini kit.

    I have no shame.

£40 for a mini kit though does make me a giant sports direct sized mug!

I don't - which is why I never wear overpriced clothing advertising a brand that charges me a premium for doing it for them. I'm not pro Adidas or Nike, I'm just not against templates.

And I'm pro not changing shirt designs every season, as I'm keen to save the gullible from wasting their money.

Any news on who our new head coach is going to be?

I'm sure that was the chief marketing goal of the year for the multinational sporting apparel giant Adidas, whose sponsored athletes include the best footballer of all time: devilishly connive to trick a few thousand Watford fans into putting a 3-inch print of their name on the shirt they mostly only ever wear to go to games. The true jewel in the crown.

Let’s not pretend millions of football fans around the country being charged £40 and upwards for a template worn by their teams that’s been produced for a few hours effort is anything other than a **** taking con

    £40! Yikes.

Back in the day my uncle sold Watford stuff in his sports stall on Bovingdon market. Probably got 11 kits for that!

Quite the hub-bub about the paw print logo. I remember when Kelme seemed like an aspirational brand back in the days they made Real Madrid's kit in the mid-90s, Davor Suker era.

The only redeeming feature is the raglan sleeves, which sit fantastically well on my monstrous traps and boulder shoulders.
