Why is Deeney STILL untouchable?

When someone is interviewed about THEIR mental health, the whole topic is about them!

Please don’t ever apply to be a therapist, you’d hate how many people talk about themselves...

 

What, for the 800th time? We've heard it all before from him and it's helping nobody, get a grip.

 

Not sure that anyone is forcing you to listen considering it’s not related to the club?

And how do you know it’s helping no-one? There could be any number of football loving people watching that who suffer with their mental health?!

I think on this issue, it’s quite clear who actually needs to get a grip. Don’t like the bloke, fine. Don’t like his association with the club, also fine. But in relation to this video, you’re choosing the wrong mountain to die on.

 

I just watched that and dont see why it would upset anyone, it's a good thing to highlight the fact that if you have mental health issues it is good to get help/therapy.
I'm of the opinion that he has slacked off recently and may be a big influence and not of a good kind,, but I dont see this discussion having any effect on the club or team.
Hes doing a positive thing here and should be respected for his positives as much as criticised for his negative impacts.
Of course it's about the two individuals in the clip but it is for the benefit of many.
I like Troy as an individual and think he is honest with himself about what he was in the past and see no problem in him pursuing a media career as many in the game have done before. But I do think Watford fc could be better without him now, but I dont accept he should be vilified for everything he does beyond football.

It is "lazy" to call footballers and celebrities role models, says Watford striker Troy Deeney in an interview about knife crime in Britain.

Deeney, 30, was asked about the number of young people being stabbed in the UK in recent weeks - and what he could do as a high-profile sportsman to help.

"I don't like the word role model, first and foremost," Deeney told BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek.

"The role model should be in the house at all times."
