We might not have got hammered, but we put in our fair share of shambolic defensive performances that I'm sure we wouldn't have kept the score down against City had Pearson stayed on

Does anyone give a toss about anything on TalkSport? All aimed towards getting clicks rather than any intelligent discussion

5 live has gone the same way tbh. Gone are the days of your Mark Chapman's doing 606, it's all the likes of Savage and Sutton.

I used to listen to Talksport a lot when I was getting into football shortly after it changed from Talk Radio, but looking back I don't know why. Most of the presenters were tossers with the exception of the lovable idiot Alvin Martin, Tom Watt (who left early on) and Brian Moore (sadly passed away in 2001 after being presenter of Inside the Boardroom, one of the station's few bright spots) and the callers were largely thick and/or had chips on their shoulders.

I haven't listened to Radio 5 for years and football phone-ins for longer but I recall the presenters were more likable or at least better-informed and insightful and the discussions were generally more intelligent.

He'd look alright in a shop window. I think we may have stumbled on the reason Troy will be with us until his contract ends, however.

Don’t think Chapman ever did 606 and Savage has been doing it for a while now.

But, as I have posted before, bring back Danny Baker.

    Oh yes, maybe.

He’s been off anyway as his wife died recently.

Don't get to listen so much but they had a lighter side to their shows with humour.

Not just top 6 (mainly Arsenal bashing !) talk.

We won't get a mention if we go down - not sue they know the Championship exists till the end or when a team like Leeds go up.

Most of the non-top 6/non football stuff is on TS2.

What bugs me about 5 Live is not Savage and Sutton but the relentless effort to make football “more relevant” to yoof. There’s a profoundly irritating slot where an Arsenal fan chats and bants with his mates. Think it is called “The Squad”?

Still, I am a grumpy old man.

I find it amazing that Darren Gough, a man with the same amount of Ashes wins as me, can talk about football as a supposed expert.

    I assume he's still there. I don't know/care.

To me I think this is the same thing. Five Live employ wind-up merchants to encourage 'banter' and appeal to 'da yoof'.
Sutton and Savage are prime examples of this- akin to the idiots on Talkshyte.

I think for Watford related discussions they should have W G Grace on. There's a man who could point out we didn't even have a football club to support in 1880.

But Sutton and Savage are grumpy old men too.

I find them vaguely amusing, if I am honest. Only vaguely, mind.

Absolutely tragic, it's just football. What's worrying is that he sounds like he might be an adult, if Watford can get him that worked up, what does he do when there's a real problem at work or life in general?

    Another fan on.

Complaining about Deeney which is fair enough but main issue seemed to be only scored penalties by hitting them straight!

I mean where do these fans come from.

To be honest, the fact that some Watford fans get so angry and have posted countless times on this forum about the fact that Deeney usually hits penalties down the middle successfully sums up the fanbase as a whole.

    Strangest fans in the world.

    Can't bear either of them.
They are on the same "See their face or hear their voice, switch it off" list as Michael McIntyre and Mrs Brown's boys.

Used to have talksport on in the background when commuting but now listen rarely as home working.
Think their promotion of betting rather nauseating. Simon Jordan worth a listen but likes the sound of his own voice.
Savage I switch off as he is very aggressive and all his calls on 606 end up in slanging matches.
