Those Russian Oligarchs have got a lot of money you know! We'll just have to watch out to see which Leicester and Man City players are sailing around the Med in brand spanking new yachts this summer, any bets on Schmeicel (spelling?)
Very, very, kind of feel sorry for muff (but not very), def gave it a go, hope we can manage a performance like that
That result means if Muff get 3 points more than us in the remaining games theyll almost certainly have a better goal difference than us given that we have to play city. Another nail in the coffin.
Unfortunately Eddie Howe has found a way to win all of a sudden. He has noticed teams are fading in the last 30 mins due to a number of reasons, Fatigue, Tiredness and most importantly, no atmosphere which leads to a lack of concentration. Last 2 games he tried to keep the game tight in the first half then bring on his 2 big guns with 30 to go. Players were all at sea against leicester first half who never took advantage . 2 nd half Howe unleashed Wilson and Stanislas.Did the same against City and should have got the draw. He will do the same at Everton. Hoping the last 30 mins comes and they are still in the game , where he will bring on the above 2 mentioned.Carlo Ancelotti though is no mug . West Ham fan here Like you we are studying the results and coming up with all sorts of scenarios . Not going to comment on our game because its huge for both sets of fans. If we lose we still have the lifeline against Villa last game where as you have 2 tough games after. Maybe this will work to your advantage as Pearson will have worked on his tactics for this game. I can see the game being very tight and set pieces might be key for both teams. I know what you lot are going through, been through this a lifetime supporting Hammers. We are overdue to get relegated having fought it 3 times in 4 years and scrapped through . A draw for us would mean that Bourne or Muffs as you say would need 2 wins. So for that reason i am hoping we get a point Friday and see where the dust settles.
City have nothing to play for and Pepsi Cola has many games looming with the new season plus Champions League games and FA cup. Don,t be fearful of City after the way they approached the Muff game. They looked diabolical at the back.
A draw leaves West Ham in a much stronger position than us due to much better goal difference and much easier remaining fixtures. A draw for West Ham would pretty much guarantee survival. A draw for us would leave the revitalised glistening Muff needing 4 points against 2 teams with nothing to play for to send us down. The 'best of the rest' heading for an away trip to High Wycombe. I'm just so glad we have our Chinese and Indian fanbase to fall back on in difficult times. If only we'd changed our badge we'd probably be in the Champions league by now!
2 games a week which the poor little PL darlings aren't used to + teams with nothing to play for + no fans to get on players backs when they don’t put the effort in. It’s a perfect storm for any team with an ounce of talent and willing to put the effort in.
Muff may be “revitalised” but the fact remains that they have gained fewer points in their last three games than us.
Exactly this. Now the dust has settled I actually see last night as an overriding positive. City wasn’t actually a damage limitation exercise, it was a lost opportunity for Bournemouth. They really should have got a point at the very least. They created chances but I was actually surprised they didn’t go for it a lot more at the end, nothing to lose by conceding one on the break, but they almost seemed to have that mental block that it was city and were slightly half hearted in actually going for the jugular. In these last few games any team who has the desire to get points against teams with nothing to play for can get them, the opposition players couldn’t care less.
Bournemouth fans praying for a West Ham win. Guess that is down to the GD as if we win West Ham will be harder for them to catch.
Likewise with the idea Eddie has 'found a way to win'. 1 win in 11 is hardly a great sign he's cracked the code.
If anyone's interested, West Ham's sponsor Betway are doing an intro offer of West Ham to beat Watford at 50/1... Only catch is winnings are as a free bet.
Nah mate, not having that. We are a very well balanced opinionated fan base, who loves everyone, except Lut*n.
I think the vast majority of Premier League clubs and fans despise us. Nothing new there. Only Portsmouth and Birmingham fans are likely to be cheering for us. Even Southampton fans are in two minds over us and Bournemouth, and Bournemouth are their rivals.
One thing is certain, all Leicester fans will be standing by to revel in the misery of whichever team loses tomorrow night. Absolute misery merchants, the lot of them.
Whilst I totally agree with you on that score, they actually want Watford to stay up. It's the Pearson/Shakespeare link. They still have a fondness for him and because of that, they want us to do well.
I've never had any grief from the vast majority of EPL team fans - except a Chelsea fan (in a pub years ago when I watching a cup game with my 5 YO son and elderly, fragile father) and some Man City 'fans' after the cup final - and that was 'sorted' by a group of gooners. Portsmouth are Soton's only rivals. It has quite a long history (and nothing to do with football) and I was told that it came from the early days of trade unions when Portsmouth dock workers were embroiled in a long dispute (Portsmouth was a militray docks, Soton civil). The dock owners brought in replacement workers from Soton's docks breaking the industrial action. Also ISTR the the Soton workers took their description as "SCUM" and reclaimed it saying it denoted Southamton Company of Union Men...
Funnily enough, that’s exactly what I think Pearson’s plan has been recently. We sat so deep and committed so few players forward in the first half against Newcastle. Second half, we seemed to be doing so much more running and pushing players much further forward. Newcastle couldn’t match us and imploded through a few tired tackles.
Did I read correctly that this will be Kabasele’s 100th game? If I were to guess, I’d have said he’s played half that amount.
I work with a Soton season ticket holder and we discussed this the other day. Although he doesn't class muff as rivals they do fit in the dislike bucket. He says Soton sing songs to belittle muff 'who are you' and 'we don't care about you' type stuff.
