I like the image of the Everton squad in deckchairs behind a wind break on a beach somewhere, with their trouser legs rolled up and knotted handkerchiefs on their heads.
Do you just say this to make it easier to accept if it happens and if it doesn't it's a nice surprise?
Funnily enough, what my friend told me was that a lot of Southampton fans are torn between sending us or Bournemouth down. They do seem to still hold a big grudge over the Doucoure handball goal we scored.
My family live down in Dorset, I moved down there for a while also and met lots of Saints fans, the local used/probably still do run a coach up to Southampton games every week despite Bournemouth being more local. As much as the rivalry isn't as bitter as it is with Portsmouth they are still not very liked among most Saints fans and I am sure the players will know there is local pride at stake.Additionally how is it remotely fair the way the fixtures fall Southampton having to play Monday, Thursday Sunday. Spurs also only had two days rest before they played Bournemouth away.
If you think how you felt after Southampton away then I'm sure most of us would have taken beating West Ham to stay up. Villa and Bournemouth were both incredibly lucky yesterday with VAR and Schmeichel's brain fart. They're both still sh1te.
Has anyone from PGMOL come out to explain why they disallowed the goal for Palace yesterday? Or is it just another swept under the carpet with a chuckle hoping no one really noticed. This sort of thing is occurring far too often now. Have they said it should have been a goal, or have they defended the action to disallow it? Here's the incident for those who have not seen it yet. https://talksport.com/football/7311...ded the ball struck, side were denied the lead.
So if I've got this right, Bournemouth are down, no they're not, Leicester threw the game, betting scandal, have an easier run in than us, no they haven't, they will get thumped at City but not as badly as us, they will score in the last minute of the final game to send us down on GD, they will win 2 out of 3 games, Southampton are on the beach, Southampton are the form team since the return, it is Southampton's third game in 7 days so they'll be tired, or nicely warmed up, Bournemouth will get 0-9 points, Ake is out for the season or possible just a couple of hours, Everton are on the beach, Ancelotti is annoyed so has asked them to come back from the beach, they only have one fit centre back so Villa will win, they've got 2 fit centre backs, no, one got injured yesterday but not badly, Villa won't win as they are rubbish away from home, Villa have a better run in than us, Villa are sh1t and will get relegated, Villa will catch us when they beat Everton and Arsenal, Villa will lose the next two games and then beat West Ham, Villa will catch us, no they won't, Villa will get 0-9 points, we're rubbish, the whole world is against us, we have no chance at West Ham, we will get a point at West Ham, we will beat them and stay up or go down, City will beat us by a lot( can't argue with that!), Arsenal are on the beach for the Villa game, Villa will beat Arsenal, we will beat Arsenal, we will lose to Arsenal because of Obangheyang, we won't get another point, we only need one point, need to beat West Ham, a draw at West Ham should do it, West Ham are miles better than us, West Ham are sh1t, we've won their before and Arsenal, we're doomed, we'll be fine, I hope we go down, I hope we stay up, sack Pearson, sack everybody, it's Deeneys fault I think that covers it and clears everything up
For a small and - I thought - pretty innocuous club, we seem to have more than our fair share of fanbases who find us irritating. Wolves, Palace, Bournemouth, Leicester (until we appointed Pearson) - and now I have to add Southampton to the list?!
Seriously? It didn’t effect them in the end. And then Chalobah had a stonewall penalty waved away against them the following season. And then they scored their own handball goal this season.
Don't forget Villa, who I'm sure would love to send Deeney the Bluenose down. And Arsenal, for Cojones. For a little club that has never really done much of anything, a lot of people hate us. But no more than we hate ourselves for being so Watford.
I'm still confident we can stay up, the other 2 clubs would jump at the chance to swap places with us if they could Unless we are very unlucky with Muff/Villa's results, we probably need 1 more point IMO
Good question. I just feel that we don't have the team to gain anything from the next three games. It doesn't make it easier to accept relegation. On Saturday evening l was optimistic of survival. Today l am far less confident .
Think Southampton will put up a better fight against Muff than Leicester ..... just gone one up against Man U
I actually think we could get something out of Arsenal on the final day if we need it. They truly will be "on the beach" by then and they are just absolute dirt at the back. Wouldn't rule out at least a point. Think we'll draw 0-0 with West Ham, lose 3-0 to City and then get a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, which will see us safe.
I think a draw against West Ham should be good enough. Bournemouth will loose to City and, after watching that first half and most of their games after restart, Southampton too. I also can't see West Ham getting anything from Manchester United game because they're pretty much unbeatable at the moment and are chasing CL spots. That would mean that we'd be level with them on the last day of the season, so they would need to try to get something against Villa.
There's no way Arsenal will take that attitude. Here's a photo from today's training session. They will be taking the game seriously for sure. ....and here they are even practicing bicycle kicks.
Just desperately trying to convince myself that everything will be OK... All it really means is that my meltdown will be epic when we revert to normal and bend over for West Ham and then get relegated on the final day as Bournemouth stay up.
Southampton play like they have tonight then probably will get something at Bournemouth.. But bit difffent being motivated for playing Man U to playing Bournemouth.
They've played really well since the restart. I can't see Bournemouth get something there, especially without Ake
Southampton are in really good shape. They don't have a lot to play for, but seeing as they are in such good form they are enjoying their football which is motivating them. It's good to see, so I think Bournemouth will have their work cut out in beating them right now.......as we found to our cost.
Tinge of good news for us, Man United will still be looking to secure Top 4 when they play against West Ham.
