Watford 0 Leicester 9 Match report: The 2019/20 Premier League season finally got underway after years of false starts and Leicester City comfortably swept a disinterested looking Watford aside courtesy of a record THREE hat tricks in one game by their legendary veteran Jamie Vardy. Watford captain Troy Deeney, who spent the whole game sitting on the centre spot in protest, said: "I appreciate clubs had to restart the season with the same squads, and I'm theoretically under contract still, but I've had a double hip replacement and I'm 86 for Christ's sake. I mean, come on!" Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster added: "I had to just stand there and admire Vardy. I'd like to thank the club for the special strap-in zimmerframe, as there's no way I could have stayed on my feet for 90 minutes without it. It was an incredible experience to have a world class player raining the goals past me again and I'm relishing the rest of the season."
So Deeney coming back overweight due entirely to over wok in the gym lifting the wrong type of weights.
The match will be played on 20th June with a 12:30pm ko. The game will be live on BT Sport. We then play Burnley on Thursday 25th June with a 6pm ko. To be shown on Sky. Southampton to be shown on Sky on Sunday 28th June at 4:30pm
Let the banter begin again! @hornmeister You may have to get the site designers to deal with twenty odd thousand new people in the shout box. On top of that, @NathWFC will need a bigger type box and @StuBoy might need extra bog roll.
Funnily enough, since this whole lockdown business started we've been getting deliveries by Milk and More. However, for some reason after the first delivery of bog roll and despite us removing it from our shopping list, they have continued delivering it every Friday. So we now have about 50 rolls stored around the house, so thanks for your concern but I think I'll be fine. Is that a good omen?
Pearson having a proper pre-season with the team will help, we'll stay up with ease and we'll start with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Leicester.
Brilliant, and all the pubs are shut so we can't watch these games. Apart from those of us that subscribe to Sky and BT of course. (Of which I am not one).
The two Sky ones are free to air on Pick. BT do not appear to be allowing any of theirs to be free. All of Amazon Prime's are and of course the BBC are getting very excited they have some live football.
To be fair BT will probably have to pay me to watch Leicester Watford after this lay off. The quality on display will be lacking.
The quality will be fine but the sense of occasion will be non-existent. It will be like watching a training session.
I *think* this is more to do with BT's exclusive CL rights. If they show the EPL for free then they'll probably *have* to do the same for the CL and it devalues the brand... EDIT: BT are doing the CL final for free.
I'd be interested to see the figures for people that actually pay for BT Sprout rather than get it free because it's included with their TV or internet package.
It hasn't been included in the internet package for a *while*. I think I pay around a £5 for it (for a box that's still in it's box on my desk). Their electronic gizmos are very good, you have the ability to watch without the usual bunch'a'cnuts who do the footy co-commentating. It's also the only provider that routinely shows international hockey (and their coverage is very, very good) and their coverage of rugby is also top notch - which I probably won't be using since Sarrie got their 'just and fair' punishment.. They also have a library of very good sports docus in their library a few of which have unpaid access.
I think my earlier prediction in this thread will need to be re-assessed. I can't remember what I said before but after seeing how utter crap we played at Palarse - I think I said we would lose or draw. After such a long layoff of football, I still say we draw this. Love to win, but considering how we played in our first game back after pre-season against Brighton, and this was an even longer layoff with no pre-season, a draw would be an OK result.
Seeing as the Sky ones will be on Pick, I'll probably go for a Now TV for the day if SportsDonkey hasn't got its droppings together.
Sorry, I haven’t been watching it because I’m not interested. I’m sure the standard is very high but I don’t watch football solely to appreciate the technical acumen of the players. I want to take part in an emotional and sometimes thrilling occasion with physical effort and drama. That’s why I try to go to as many live Watford games as possible and don’t just watch any old teams on TV. Football without fans will never satisfy me.
I get sky sports bt sports bien dazn you name it all on an android iptv box that costs me $150 a year. This I use in Canada and I watch all uk tv. Also movies and tv shows. It keeps me sane as Canadian tv is ****. Worth looking into for the foreseeable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is something like that available and legal in the UK ? I pay something like £130/m in the UK for pretty much the full sky package, multi-room, broadband, phone etc. I don't even get BT sports or Netflix.
It sounds like I was on a similar package to you except I was also getting Netflix at around £130 pm. I don't know how long you have subscribed to Sky but I have been with them for over 20 years. I phoned them up and asked why new customers were getting a better deal than me. They immediately upgraded my broadband to ultra fast and applied a number of discounts. I am now paying £70 pm (it is slightly less with no live sport) for the same full sky Q HD package, multi-room, broadband, phone and Netflix (but no BT Sport). It is definitely worth making a phone call and asking them to review your costs.
It's a real shame there won't be any fans there of either side, this game especially due to the Pearson connection to Leicester. Would of been a great atmosphere to play in. As long as the game is decent and both sides put in a good effort that's all that matters. They probably know peeps will be watching on external sources so any slacking off by any players will be spotted. Impossible to even predict the lineup, god knows how our players have been motivated over such a long break. Foster Mapps Kiko Masina Doucs Capoue Hughes Peyera Cleverly Sarr Deeney / or Gray I know pos. are wrong but just an idea of who might slot in and where. Not sure on the overall fitness of Delafoo although he is back in light training, Prodl, god knows if we will see him again. Holebas could feature but it depends on mental state as well as fitness after such a layoff.
