West Ham bidding £10mil + £2mil in add ons for Matty Cash at Forest. This is the sort of deal we should be doing. Arguably the best RB in the championship. Young, English, with bags of potential. We happily waste £6mil on players like Oulare etc, so don’t see why don’t just go in for someone like Cash. With Janmaat unreliable, so Mapps covering the RB, £10mil for Cash is a bargain.
Both clubs have denied it. Moyes said they were interested but they haven’t bid after their game yesterday. Forest won’t sell for less than £20m according to the papers this morning as they don’t need money and are chasing promotion. Southampton bid £12m and it was rejected and they are now after Kyle Walker-Peters.
Interesting. I guess if Forest don’t get promoted then he will be on the move in the summer. He is definitely someone I would like us to go for. How long is left on his contract?
So, the summer transfer window will be busy! Who else loves a bit of wild speculation? Keep (provided they don’t demand to leave) Dawson, Deeney*, Masina, Chalobah, Cathcart, Joao Pedro, Gray*, Hughes, Quina, Femenia, Dele-Bashiru, Foster**, Kabasele, Pussetto, Bachmann**, Cucho, Dahlberg, Wilmot Release Gomes, Janmaat, Mariappa, Holebas Sell if anyone will have them Cleverley, Welbeck, Penaranda, Success, Foulquier Too good/in-demand to keep Deulofeu, Doucoure, Sarr, Capoue, Pereyra, Estupinan, Sema, Suarez *On the provision they have large relegation wage reduction clauses. Otherwise sell if there’s any takers. **Would need to sign new contracts I expect a few of those in ‘keep’ would demand to leave. There’s a few players like Foster, Chalobah, Hughes, Femenia and Kabasele that might tempt bids from PL or European leagues. Those in release are too old (or injury prone in Janmaat’s case). The ‘sell’ players are rubbish, too expensive, too injury prone or a combination of those. The bottom set would leave for sure. Capoue is a little old but someone would go for him. Sema may look an odd inclusion amongst the rest but I’m sure he’ll join Udinese permanently so this group seemed to fit best.
An interesting take, which I agree with mostly, but Sema in your 'Too good' list is surely a mistake? He'll be decent for us in the Championship, so I'm sure we'd keep him. I'd certainly keep Welbeck as well. He'd be real quality in the Championship and just as Fulham kept Mitrovic, we need to do the same with him. With our youngsters breaking through in Europe, it may be a good opportunity for them to come over. Cucho, Estupinan and Suarez, although I agree it could be hard to keep a couple of them seeing as their making a name for themselves this season. The door could open for Quina, Dele-Bashiru and Wilmott to break into the first team though. Foster may well go, as Sheff Utd made a big noise about taking him this summer after Watford's relegation. If Foster goes, we'd need a new keeper for sure, but I think we'd be ok and would have enough to stage a promotion push at the first attempt. I think we'd only need a first team keeper, if Foster goes, if he stays then I don't feel the need to make any signings at all next season. Just some careful pruning, realising assets for star players, and retaining the rest. Keeper New first choice, Dahlberg, Bachmann Defenders Masina, Dawson, Mariappa, Cathcart, Kabasele, Janmaat, Kiko, Wilmott, Navarro, Estupinan, Spencer-Adams, Foulquier, Perkins Midfield Capoue, Hughes, Chalobah, Quina, Dele-Bashiru, Cleverley, Whelan, Hungbo Forward wide Sema, Pussetto, Penaranda, Pedro Strikers Deeney, Welbeck, Gray, Success, Cucho, Suarez, Hinds, Cassidy, Stuparevi*, Dalby Sold Deulofeu, Pereyra, Sarr, Doucoure, Foster (although I hope we keep all of them of course). We should get way over £100m for these players, which will go a long way to funding a promotion push. Released Gomes, Holebas
Sema more about having interest than being too good. He’s with those that would surely leave because he’s nailed on to join Udinese. Doing well for them and getting far more game time than he did with us. Welbeck is too expensive for the Championship. Plus despite having no talent his reputation will earn him a move to a PL team. Youngsters are the silver lining to this situation. I hope they can establish themselves next year. I think we’ll struggle to get great value for the players we sell. Buying clubs will know players want out. We’re obliged to offload them and will get negotiated down.
As I said elsewhere wouldn't be surprised if a few were shipped off to Udinese! Even someone like Kabasele as he might not want to play Championship football. Anyone on over 40-50k will probably be sold. We still won't sign any defenders so be left with an even older defence plus Willmott..
I know every club will be after him but if Brighton go down, which looks pretty likely, we have to try for Lewis Dunk. Why he's still there is beyond me.
Cos the only clubs that could afford him decided there were different ways to go. Whilst Brighton are in the PL the only teams that could afford him are: City, Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and potentially Leicester. Could be an option for City but think they'll go for a flashier option Liverpool don't need him. Utd went for Maguire instead Chelsea went for youth instead Spurs went for signing midfielders instead - they could go in for him in the summer as their defence needs some work. Would surprise me if they went for Dunk though. Arsenal are too dumb to sign him Leicester decided to give Soyuncu a chance instead of buying to fill the Maguire shaped hole in their defence which has worked pretty well for them tbf.
I'd still prefer us to go for Ake if Muff go down. But in all honesty can't see us spending big on defenders as usual.
More likely that Muff will pick up 3-4 of our key players if we go down. At least they tend to overpay.
My favourite time of the year, relegation suggestions: Ben Godfrey from Norwich Emi Buendia from Norwich (Please!!!!) Nothing from Villa to be honest and nothing realistic from Bournemouth.
Godfrey has ability but imo gives the forward far too much space. Could develop into an outstanding defender especially under Pearson. But wasn't he valued at 50m? Buendia looks the real deal too but again out of our range probably. Do like their right back but with Janmaat given a new deal we aim t going in that direction.[/
Ainsley Maitland Niles, if price is right would, (imho), be a versatile addition to the squad. Not in favour with Arteta, and likely to move in the summer.
He's a good player, but I'm not sure where he'd get in to our team - he's not really a specialist right back, and we already have Pussetto for the 'backup defensive right winger' position.
What I was thinking. Is he any better than we already have? Money if there's any spent should be invested in the centre of defence.
I heard his mum was dating Danny Sh1ttu. So if they got married, he'd be called Danny Loader-Sh1ttu. Sounds perfect for us.
*yearly post about how we should sign 75% of the players from the teams that got relegated* Glenn Murray would be quite the coup!
Another potential signing slips through our hands. He was local too.....FFS Gino !! https://www.kingslangleyfc.co.uk/news/lloyd-doyley-commits-2545017.html
