He's going to Man Utd. Almost makes me feel a bit better about our sorry excuse for a window if that's all Utd can manage for a striker.
I'm genuinely not sure about that. It'll be intriguing at any rate to see which one manages to out-5hite the other when we play them in a few weeks.
He did mention during his time here that he was a Utd fan growing up, so at least at a personal level it's an excellent opportunity for him:
That could have been down to tiredness and a severe lack of confidence, playing under an uninspiring manager who barely changed personnel or formation, followed by a manager whose elaborate instructions were largely lost in translation, didn't help matters much. At his best he had a better touch (admittedly not difficult) and more creativity and was a much better finisher than Gray, whose only advantage over Ighalo is pace. If he starts regaining form for Man Utd, we may feel we'll have missed a trick by not even attempting to bring him back here.
Dunno, I've seen him a few times since playing for Nigeria and he's looked rubbish then as well. Given the choice he'd have chosen Utd over us anyway. He'll give it his all while there, but I'll be stunned if he does well.
Love Iggy for that unbelievable run of form he hit, but there’s no way he’s anywhere close to being good enough for United. I hope they go easy on him, because he’s probably going to be rubbish, and given the growing toxicity at Old Trafford, you could see him becoming a target for the crowd if things aren’t going well.
If he does go there he will score on his debut. I wouldn't put it passed us to sing his song to him when we play them. It would bring him to tears!
Knowing Watford fans, it’ll be sung to him as he’s just scored a hat-trick past us while the Gino Pozzo flag gets draped overhead, with Mariappa at LB and Andre Gray shanking shots out for throws. Pozzo model.
Reaffirmed to me that Football has gone nuts. Let's just be honest, how in heck can Iggy play for Man U? Don't get me wrong I want him to do well, but just can't see how he ever could legitimately fit in there. I think board purposely allowed OGS to take him, so it can be cited later as the signing which initiated his sacrificial slaughter, when he gets binned in a few months time. Max.
It is madness, Manchester United rush to mediocrity gathers pace, we should have offered them Gray to form a dream partnership of dross up front. He will of course score the winner against us.
Quite. But at this moment in time, I’m finding it quite hard to ridicule other clubs that are at least actually doing some business.
I suspect that is largely his wages which at 100k pw over 6 months is 2.5m - I suspect he will want to keep his tax base ourside the UK in this tax year and next
You've taken this window quite badly haven't you. Chillax. We tried to make some signings, didn't do it, but that's how it is. We don't have a bucket load of money. This season's budget went on Sarr, and a little bit left for Pussetto and Dawson. We've kept all our players, and that's quite a surprise no one came sniffing around Gerri. We were prepared to spend probably another £15m on one or two more if we could get them, but if clubs don't want to sell, what can yo do. I'm a little surprised we let Prodl go without calling back Wilmott though, as even though was not often available, he's still someone we could have played had he eventually got fit. Qunia stays though as Pearson did not give the green light. He wanted him to stay. At the end of the day, we're not really a viable and solid Premier League side, we will always be struggling a bit to keep up with the bigger sides, but we are there. We are a Premier League side against all the odds. That's down to the owner, pure and simple. He knows the numbers and he knows what we can and cannot afford. Even if you follow things from a distance, it's not hard to see we're not making anything in player trading and haven't done for a long time.
Still time for Quina to go though but yes fair points. I think Prodl is still injury so leaves room for someone else in the treatment room! Pearson keeps saying he is happy with the squad and didn't want players for the sake of it - in public anyway. Seems to be relying on the injured players coming good though...like Welbeck.
Mate, through my personal experiences in my own life over the few months, I really don’t take football badly at all. It’s largely irrelevant in my life - it’s just an escape from more serious matters. But in relative terms, I haven’t taken just this window badly. Some want to be more level headed as is their want and perhaps the correct outlook - but I personally think it’s quite disgraceful the way the owner and his appointees who oversee deals have gone about matters since the cup Semi-Final. This window just compounds that. I think we are gambling with our PL future. I haven’t taken this window badly because as I said, I somewhat expected it. What it’s done is compound the anger I’ve felt over the last few windows. You have a different opinion, I respect that. PS. Please don’t say ‘chillax’ again.
