Some Oxford fan fixed the floodlight so the game kicked off at 8.45 and we won 2-0 (Connolly and White)!!!! Somehow managed to stay awake and go to school the next day! The 2nd attempt was called off 5 minutes before kick off. http://www.bsad.org/9697/reports/oxfordh.html The Torquay game was 0-0 at 90 minutes then GBW scored about 90 seconds into extra time!! http://www.bsad.org/9798/reports/torquayh.html
And at Torquay who named a fanzine after him because he missed a vital penalty in a play off final!! https://www.where-are-they-now.co.uk/footballer/Bamber+Dave/5150
Dave Bamber is in the Blackpool hall of fame!! Devon White is probably the worst I’ve ever seen. Honourable mentions to Steve Butler, Moralee, Rimmer and Peter Beadle
I maintain that the worst player I have seen in a Watford shirt is Danny Drinkwater. Incidentally, he's now also the worst player I've seen in a Villa shirt. Gray at least helped us to an FA Cup Final and victories over Silva and Rodgers so... he's done enough.
I've only just read this entire thread and I'm genuinely shocked by this, I can't quite believe it's you who's posted it, to be perfectly honest. Incredibly disappointing to see. Perhaps I'm naive, but I didn't even get the meaning properly until RC spelled it out, and then this.
Someone show this to Gino quick https://motleedsnews.com/fans-view/...ker-reports-far-better-than-che-adams-please/ Leeds fans would love Gray. Make it happen Gino.
Haha I know. I wouldn’t be surprised though if we accept an offer from Leeds if they offer £15mil. Gray would want to go. He was literally in the team to go play Tranmere. He’s a bit part player at Watford. At Leeds he would be getting a lot more game time. Plus he could help them secure promotion to the Prem. Will be interesting to see if we still say no come towards the end of the window if a substantial offer comes in.
Gray is needed in the current squad to come on in games and start the occasional one until the end of the season. I don't see that changing. Whatever other forum members might think about other squad members being given a chance there's a reason for that. They are either worse or not ready or in Welbeck' s case on a regular sickie. Whilst I agree he would get game time elsewhere it's too risky with our injury record to get rid yet whilst there is a glimmer of hope of avoiding relegation.
Eh? If you’re suggesting for one minute that I’m accusing anyone of racism then you should stop in your tracks. My attempt at a bit of sarcasm was based on I think people are finding reasons to criticise Gray at every juncture because they just don’t like him. Much like the media seem to do with Meghan Markle so please don’t accuse me of anything else or even suggest it. You know me better than that.
My first match was Watford 5 Port Vale 2. 13th April 1996. I think Kerry Dixon had been replaced by David Connolly by that point of the season, who hit a hattrick. Devon White (haha) managed to bag a brace! GT was at the wheel, but couldn't quite keep us up.
That was a cracking run at the end of that season. We couldn't stop scoring. Shame it wasn't enough to keep us up but it was the start of a brilliant few years.
Funny old world, Craig Cathcart wasn’t very good first time round! Kerry Dixon was brilliant (for Chelsea), Drinkwater was brilliant (for Leicester), Mick Quinn is Micky Quinn!
Willis scored against us after leaving aswell. This was both frustrating and hilarious when it happened at the Vic.
Took my mate who was a Spurs fan to the 6-3 win against Grimsby. He's been a Hornet ever since, the game before Devon White scored twice if I recall including one from almost the touchline. He was still absolute pants though.
I was still pretty young then but can vividly remember the crowd chanting "we want 7" over and over. I don't think I've seen a double hattrick live ever since then either.
Disagree. I can't honestly see what he brings to the squad. He is getting worse game by game IMO. He's actually damaging to our play by his inability. Yes he scored a few last season but that's gone it's the here and now. One sweet strike against West Ham I will give you that but apart from that I'm struggling to think of anything beneficial he gives to the side. Understand me when I say I support every Watford player. I just expected so much more from our former record signing. But he has run his course now and needs to be shipped out. Hopefully Pedro is ready and able to fill his boots, let's be honest it wouldn't be difficult.
I will explain it again. We need a replacement to step in before he gets shipped out. I don't see that happening in this transfer window. In the summer the front line may have a different look. But I don't see it right now, e.g. it will take some persuading in this window to say to a striker "would you like to play for us by the way we are fighting relegation at the moment we need some help and by the way you will be backup to our captain so your game time may be limited unless you are **** hot. You are saying 'hopefully' regarding Pedro. That sounds like a 'down the line' prediction to me. Which reinforces the point I made about the 'not ready' category. I will trust Pearson's judgement when he says that Gray has a part to play in the squad the remainder of this season. If other players step up in that period then all well and good. Also, following the new signing yesterday, reports are that Success is the one who is surplus to requirements due to him going further down the pecking order for even less minutes.
The fact it is impossible for pedro to be worse than gray. Even if pedro isnt ready to play for us it makes no difference, because gray isnt ready to play for us either. The absolute worst thing that could happen if we get rid of gray and put pedro in his place is that things stay exactly as they are. Making the swap is an entirely risk-free endeavour.
