I’ll be happy if proved wrong but I have the exact opposite opinion. I think it’s a disastrous move.

But that seems to be this seasons theme, so what’s one more eh?

The latter of the two could be true, but theirs no way we would've gone back in for Javi this season. Just because these guys have a blue tick doesn't mean they know the truth.

I really worry that’s what will happen. Gino won’t sack Giraldi and Pearson is a notorious hot-head. Can only end in tears.

Why are people bed-wetters just because they don’t think it’s the right appointment?

F*cking hell, some people need to understand the meaning of debate and difference of opinion.

Do not worry Watford fans the Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare duo will perform their miracle escape with us as per Leicester and the following season we'll continue the form into next season and win the Premier League.

( more likely win the Championship but I would accept that they are hiring them with a view to next season if we get relegated)

We asked QSF back and for that reason I don’t think we can discount that it could be true. They’ve also re-employee a number of managers in Italy.
So it doesn’t mean they are lying either.

    Nigel Pearson?

Did well at Leicester and doesn't take fools gladly .

Had quite a falling out at Derby though and a short fuse .

Have you seen our season? They’ve lost it. Someone suggested Deeney as Player-Manager the other day - I honestly wouldn’t be shocked now if that’s the next cab out of the rank.

Yeah they've lost the plot this season but I'm still struggling to believe that they'd go back in for Javi. Saying that, after hearing that Eustace was being discussed for the job, who knows.

It’s a tough one. He’s certainly not someone I’d jump at having. But we don’t really have much choice. I mean there aren’t really any other managers that look amazing picks either that we could realistically get. He does give us a slim chance of surviving, if he can get the players fighting.

I expect our press conferences will get more interesting.

I think the fact he has "anger issues" at this stage is a good thing.

Although I wonder how much inpiut he will wan on ecruitment and how much he'll get.

I genuinely think one of the main reasons Pearson will be appointed is for his attitude pre/post game. We’ve been stitched up royally by officials and VAR this season and the coaches thus far have just bent over and taken it - giving the impression that it’s fine for it to keep happening

The one positive I see to Pearson is that if it happens again, he won’t be backwards for coming forwards and saying it as it is.

How much he will want a say is irrelevant because he will by and large get none. A contract just until the summer tells you that, even if our past record does as well. Although he may have a say in terms of things like my prediction at the bottom of this post...

I think December will continue to be a tricky month - Foster’s interview says the rot has set in and new signings have to be right. More or less admitting that they’ve likely been told new faces will come in - which I imagine means it will be even harder to motivate those who know they will be out.

Two things though - anyone hoping we will move on from Deeney can think again. Pearson adored him at Leicester so I suspect he’ll be teachers pet.

Second thing? Calling it now. We sign Wes Morgan in January.

I don't know all the foreign coaches who might be available (or any of them, in fact), but I can't think of a better appointment than Pearson. It might go horribly wrong, but so might any appointment.

Whilst we have been unlucky in certain games maybe he can get the players fit and performing too which is actually our main problem this season .

Even with the odd right VAR call we'd still be struggling (and Flores would probably still be in a job!)

Agreed, though I think some good can come of Giraldi being challenged, and I don’t think Pearson would shy away from doing it in public if he feels he’s being undermined from above. I agree that Giraldi won’t be sacked, but given the disaster this season has been, and the growing list of issues potentially linked to him, it might not be out of the question that his role is redefined, or reduced.

    1. Poor recruitment and failure to adequately address obvious issues - Giraldi
    2. Departure from club of UK recruitment guy (can’t remember his name) and reportedly the man who pushed for signings like Maguire/Robertson etc - linked to Giraldi supposedly ignoring/failing to properly take into account recommendations.
    3. Incident at the end of a game shortly before Javi was sacked - Giraldi trying to confront Javi postgame. Speculation on my part I accept, but given reports coming out regarding his desire to have input on team/tactical selections, I wonder whether Javi was going off-script and was punished accordingly.

I’m happy we won’t be getting a yes man, because if nothing else, there’s a chance some challenges from the coaching side my ignite change to our clearly failing model.

Maybe he will have the cojones to demand a bigger say. Maybe it's being discussed right now. He could, after all, legitimately ask "how's your 'model' been working for you recently"? The short contract simply sounds like common sense if it goes 't.ts up' again. Gino doesn't want to be stung with a third big comp. payout in the same season.

As for Deeney, well Pearson was last at Lestah 4 1/2 years ago. Not many of us would recognise Troy as the same force he was back then. So Pearson might recognise the same. Things change and move on. If they didn't we'd still have Stewart Scullion on the wing.

Giraldi heads to the tunnel before the end of every game. It just so happens that on the day you are referencing (think it was the West Ham game), the steward decided not to let him through and it got a bit heated. I think he was new and didn't know who he was. There was definitely no attempt to confront Gracia during a match - you've just made that up!

I'm not sure why Giraldi gets so much stick - you think he decides who we sign without Duxbury and Pozzo having the final say? The 3 of them seem to work in tandem so those singling Giraldi out must have some inside information that no-one else has.

He gets so much stick because we sack coach after coach, yet he as ‘Technical Director’ remains. He oversees the recruitment which has been more miss than hit. He seems to interfere in training and on match days and many rumours from Leventhal and others that he undermines the coaching team continually.

There are few, if any, things under his remit that he can argue is thriving. There are many which are sinking.

I don't understand why the responses to this post are so up in arms. Unless you've seen Gracia's contract how on earth can anyone know if the Pozzos are in the right or not? Maybe Javi thinks he's owed X and the club disagree?

I wasn't referring to the contract spat...that's down to them, but more the fact we went back in for Gracia which is the crazy part. Don't you think?

I wasn’t there, so if I’ve misrepresented the reports of what occurred that day, I hold my hands up.

That said, it’s not been reported anywhere else that Gino/Duxbury have attempted to have undue influence over team selection/ tactics, and equally, given his role as technical director, while transfer decisions are made in coordination with Duxbury and Gino, you’d imagine Giraldi has a large influence on the players we are looking for/at in terms of who actually get final consideration for signing.
