What a joke. I can only imagine he was allowed to play for them as QSF wasn't going to give him regular minutes when he returned anyway.
That's pretty poor journalism, seeing a Sarr on the scoresheet and assuming it was Ismaila, they have three in their squad.
I'm sure the club are thrilled with Senegal starting him. It's not anyone's fault though, we probably wanted him to get some minutes and Senegal obviously wanted one of their better players playing for them. Just bad luck that it's happened just after he returned from a previous injury.
More incompetence from the club. He had just returned from training and should have been using the 2 weeks to build up fitness.
Left the stadium on crutches according to a french news report I've just seen. I'm going to place my bet on a squad return date of 8th Feb (away to Brighton, unused sub)
Well yeah but then Senegal would still have a right to examine him and his medical records. He's a big player for them so I'd expect them to check. Whereas the top clubs have more clout and often players who play for countries with loads of decent replacements anyway.
Yes you are correct but after a long layoff nobody is going to contradict a decision that he needs a little more time to become match fit/
L'equipe claimed some time ago that Sarr was not coping with the pressure of the Premier League. Injured? Maybe Emotionally fragile? Yes There was a great deal of interest in him, but one by one other clubs dropped out. Perhaps they saw something that Watford failed to spot or didn't want to admit. Watford may have been sold a dud and may take a big financial hit to ship him out. Let's wait and see.
Why wait? It's clear as day that your analysis is correct. This transfer is just the sad proof that the owners got all giddy over our half decent season last year and developed ideas massively above their station. Throwing tens of millions on unproven players, new badges, fancy new foreign sponsorships... Laughable stuff from a small club like ours.
Probably a huge relief for QSF. I imagine he was struggling to decide whether to play him at left or right back.
I'm surprised this even got a thread. Like Lukebakio, we won't miss him as he's looked **** whenever he's played for us.
Hardly a big loss right now One for the future maybe but has looked miles out of his depth when he’s featured so far
Left stadium on crutches, likely ankle ligament injury. What a terrible signing so far, incredible to think we spent all summer and our whole transfer budget on a rabbit-in-the-headlights, injury prone flop. Exactly the kind of signing we'd have laughed at other clubs for making whilst praising our owners for being smarter than that.
I don't think a couple of injuries means injury prone. This injury could have been the result of a bad tackle. I find it hard to understand how anyone has an opinion on his ability so far as we have barely seen him. It's frustrating for us, the club and the player but it's harsh to call him a flop, maybe in terms of the size of the fee and injuries, but surely not the player himself. He's talented, if you watch him for Senegal and for Rennes last season that much is clear. He just needs to get some football but it looks like he won't be playing for a while!
Of course he's a flop. £40 million and two managers have decided he hasn't got what it takes to start. Absolutely dreadful signing.
Yeah they can - just do what all the big clubs do and fake a minor injury just before the international break.
Eurgh, even though he's been very disappointing so far can everyone please stop over-exaggerating the fee to make it seem even worse than it actually is - it's just an excuse for an extra moan. The BBC put the fee at £25million, and The Guardian put the fee at £30mil. The £40mil figure came from SkySports, who we all know can get things wrong and love to sensationalise things. Also, whichever it turns out to be, if any fee does end up being £40mil it will likely only be if he hits all of the no doubt numerous add-on clauses in the deal, which at this rate he won't come close to doing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49283719 https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-ismaila-sarr-from-rennes-for-club-record-30m https://www.skysports.com/football/...s-winger-ismaila-sarr-for-club-record-40m-fee Whatever it is it looks too much at this moment in time, but hold your horses a bit.
Sure no problem. Of course he's a flop. £30 million and two managers have decided he hasn't got what it takes to start. Absolutely dreadful signing.
Everyone will one day regret making premature comments, he will slowly adjust to life in England and in 2 seasons time will be fit and make the most assists in league one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
