TBF, having a scant knowledge of 70's mass production industrial embroidery techniques I'm certain that's how the noble Hart became the loveable Moose...
I quite like L. Is this 100% legit? We are seriously changing our crest? It's not a wind up by Duxbury and Gino...
I feel really left out as I haven't seen any of them ☹. Could do with a laugh though, but if there are issues sharing the mail could someone recreate them all in crayon and post them here in the next 20 minutes? Is that too much to ask? Hmm?
Very disappointing bunch. I think Q is the only one that's vaguely acceptable. Really surprised at the few on here expressing their support for J - its body is all squashed, it looks like it's just been stamped on. I'm also surprised that none of BarneyBarn's ones from earlier in this thread appear to have reached the shortlist. E could have had some potential if the stinger bit was striped, and maybe if the circle had some kind of football pattern on it. I also maybe could have been better if the unnecessary big 'W' had been removed from the middle and the hornet had been made a bit larger and shifted down a bit.
The new badge design is only of any concern to kids. If you’re over 18 you shouldn’t be spending money on an over priced polyester top.
It's clear now that the Hart has to stay & also continue to act as the main focal point of any new badge. Otherwise you are swapping out something of real historical/cultural significance of the town the club represents & simply boiling it down to a characterisation of the nickname. Ultimately cheap & unwarranted thinking. Just make some modern/subtle adjustments to the current badge. Update the font, make the hart more majestic & stick 18 81 either side. Done.
Lineker's on the case... "Absurd decision by Watford FC to sack the moose after only 41 years in charge. No doubt they will replace him with a less effective insect!"
In hindsight I think the moose incorporated into the hornet image on the same 3/4 diamond stylewould have been perfect. Like this but professsional.
Stuff "professional", get that version of the badge on the kits now! Better than most of thosr other ones.
Really disappointing that none could incorporate the Hart in to the design. If I had to pick I'd say Q
It stated very clearly in the design brief that it was Hornet designs only. The club seem to want to go down that route. Fair enough. PS How were people selected to receive this email? Only i didnt get one.. nor did i get the email about the new away fan categories.. nor indeed have i ever been sent my club membership, after ordering one 5 times (i dont think they send them abroad) I thinks it's clear that the club are discriminating against us overseas fans. Pozzo's out!
So sad, as if the cup final and yesterday's result was not enough, the club decides to cut it's true ties with the past. No-one is saying "Don't look to the future" but blimey, a hornet, a despised insect, anti the environment, what will the climate change brigade make of it and what will most fans think of it? ***t!
Not cutting ties with the past, rather going back to the past association with a hornet. Our previous badges have been quite amateurish, so we've not got too much historic pride to overturn here. We had a hornet from 1968 t0 1977.
Thanks for putting the badges up HB. I agree that many of them are indeed amateurish. To me though, it's what the Hart represents rather than the actual badge design itself. If they had incorporated a Hart somewhere on the new badge even if it wasn't the main focus then I would have been happy. The Hart is on the logo of both the town of Watford and the county of Hertfordshire. Yes, it's a small thing in itself but it does matter to me and I believe many others. It hurts.
What about a hornet getting fu**ed up the a**e twice by a Manchester ship - or two Manchester ships once if it's easier.
It's a striking image and would work very well in gaining traction in the hard to reach 'football and ship f**cking fan' market segment. EDIT: I was going to suggest this: But judging by the expression on his/her face I believe that's him/her who's getting f**ked up the a**e - which is totally the wrong sort of message.
A good portion of the Watford support base are positively revealing in the arse invading that is the currently being handed out on a weekly basis!
I'm a season ticket holder, and qualifying for group A+ as it happens, and I didn't get the badge email either.
I received an email and shall not be replying. This exercise should be binned off immediately and full attention be given to, somehow, avoiding relegation. If we do go down I would suggest to Mr.Duxburry that the new badge should consist of a yellow background with a steaming turd placed upon it to reflect the effort put into the squad.
