I addressed that earlier Add to those Kaylen Hinds, a support striker/attacking midfielder, who was in limbo for most of last season after walking out on Wolfsburg. Mullins said he's still trying to get up to speed fitness wise.
You can't honestly justify putting players on the bench who Javi has no intention of bringing on. Ludicrous idea.
Whereas the insipid point we limped to against probably the next worst team in the division has really lifted the mood around the place? What you’re articulating is the risk adverse position I’m criticising. I wasn’t particularly critical of Javi after Everton and West Ham as we had opportunities to win and played for large periods like we could compete. Yesterday was dire by comparison. And the subs sent a message to the 9 remaining players (and the opposition) that we had little belief we could pull off a win.
Same and I would not drag my family to watch Javi assemble a terrible, turgid team, bereft of guts or purpose.
I get what you're saying but I can see why he chose to defend a point rather than going for all 3. If we hadn't lost the previous 3 I'd be arguing your point.
I've never said that. I've said I think Welbeck & Sarr were fit enough to come on late in the game if we were chasing it. UAE says Javi expressed a desire to hold on for the point as the game wore on, neither Welbeck or Sarr were coming on in that situation. The one thing I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned on here (unless I missed it) was the make up of the bench. gk - Gomes def - Masina mid - Chalobah att. mid/forward - Deulofeu att. mid/forward - Success att. mid/forward - Sarr forward - Welbeck Surely another defender (Mariappa?) or midfielder (Quina?) could have been included for one of the att. mid/forwards to change formation or cover for injuries?
Going to a back three was the right call, but we aren't getting numbers forward in attack and needed pace. I could see why he swapped the very poor Doucoure (although should have been for Quina), but to not give Sarr or Peneranda more time is ridiculous. Javi went, as he always does in the last 20 minutes, into battering ram mode, when they were aerially superior all match. We've got the lowest shot conversion rate in the league (2.4%). Success and Chalobah really weren't what we needed. I'm now finally in the Javi out camp. The stats show that we are really struggling and have no confidence (with City and Arsenal to come). Currently, we're on track to start this season even worse than how we ended the last. Something's got to change.
Well, again, either they are fit enough to make an impact if necessary, or they aren't. I think the game was perfectly set for Delia, Welbz and Sarrz. Maybe Javi thought a point was a good return, which is why he didn't use them. I doubt many agree with him.
This thread will make amusing reading if we should happen to beat Arsenal next time out, whether because all our players are fully fit by then, or there are a couple of terrible reffing blunders in our favour, or because Arsenal are even more **** than us on the day. Assuming of course that Javi is still here.
Yes is odd but I guess he always knew he could revert to 4 at the back in the unlikely event of an injury. Was never going to bring a 4th on for a tactical change !
Why, because that fantasy win will prove us all wrong? You only have to look our league record since Christmas to see that one game is not going to change anything. The ship has sailed. He won't change.
Late to the party. Avoided the score until match choice highlights on sky. When I saw the starting team I think my face resembled the faces of people when they saw the video that did the rounds with a couple of ladies and a drinking device. When I saw the subs he made my face resembled someone being asked to star in said video.
We havent got a point off Arsenal since Troy shot his mouth off 2 years ago. We basically need our captain - not sure who it is right now as we've had 4 in the last 4 games (and then they disappear) to hold a press conference stating how much he and all at Watford admire the size of Arsenal's cojones and how in awe we all are of them in order to break the Deeney curse.
If Javi is still here and we win it’ll be due to luck. If we have a new coach it’ll be due to his amazing tactics and skill as a coach. Needless to say way one of the usual suspects will have already started an ‘out’ thread.
Regarding Sarr not playing . Mane got to the final and is for Liverpool Sure he isn't a new signing but if he can then surely Sarr could have played more of a role (ok not in the first game but since then )?
Just need to check the excuse sheet as we are down to number 3 or 4.... Sarr was up all night as his smoke alarm was beeping all night and he didn't know how to change the battery.
I went and it was not impressive. Just looked chaotic and so many missed passes. We were so narrow at times it was hard to understand. Hughes was excellent, Foster was solid and having Kabasele in there helped. Dangerous Dawson had another ropey game, Pereyra couldn't / wouldn't get involved and Doucoure was way below par. I thought Success and Chalobah made a big difference coming on, but it was too late. A lot of the game was lumping balls into Gray that he was never going to win - that's the thing that really annoyed me. A final word on our fans... There's some oddballs about, but somehow we've got more than our fair share. I saw one bloke in a Watford shirt in the toilets before the game washing a carrier bag with soap and water then drying it. We made little noise, but I put a lot of that down to the performance. The chants about subs made me cringe and there was a bloke bear the back of the block to the left (as you look at the stand) who was so, so angry it was both hilarious and worrying.
Not sure... He was in a shirt from the Boothroyd era with "Cooper 51" on it. The mind boggles... So many questions. Why was the bag so important that it needed to be retained? What was in it that meant it needed to be washed? Why was a man in his 50s wearing a shirt with his name on it? Was that his name or does he make barrels?
Isn't Cooper 51 the British version of Area 51, but instead of full scale alien technology being mined it's a Mini version?
The evidence is stacking up. hb1 posted me a picture of the inside of a barrel last week on some thread or other in relation to something or other. The bag could have contained evidence around a refereeing conspiracy against Watford specifically and as such a container to be reverred. Was it a very small bag? I am in my 60s and wear a shirt with my name on it so there's no presumption against a 50 y.o. (which I'd hazard hb1 is) also wearing one. Yep, I think we can now safely conclude, utilising the same level of scrutiny of evidence that hb1 himself employs, that this strange being was indeed hb1.
