I hope Ben is either starting an Open University degree or making a real pest of himself in the Swansea discotheques, otherwise he will have wasted 2 seasons.
It’s a long season in the Championship and he will be rotated in, but if he doesn’t force his way in to their first choice XI by January we should send him elsewhere if possible (or put him in our team?).
He'll wish he stayed at Stevenage, and I don't blame him. Well from a footballing point of view anyway, although I expect we are paying him considerably more than Stevenage were.
Don’t know how anybody could call it a pointless loan. The insight he’s gaining into life at level will be valuable when he’s sat on our bench next year in the Championship.
I presume he doesn't mind going out on loan and being a sub . Guess we didn't insist he plays like some clubs do .
He may wish he’d gone to another club who were interested (Spurs and Arsenal were keen supposedly) but I doubt it. He’d be even further from the 1st team there. And I as close to certain as can be that he’d rather have joined us and played a season at Udinese and train with better players. He still young and his career path is going the right way, even if everyone would have liked him to get more minutes so far at Swansea.
How many matches will Ben start in 2019? Tragic waste of an opportunity to develop a young talent. You don’t improve by running around in a bib. Also, how much will he be paid in 2019? A million? Broken system.
Has to earn the right to play though. If they've made the judgment that others are more able at this point, then learning to usurp them in the team is something he will have to learn. They are currently top so he can't complain. The manager there knows him from England youth level so I'm sure he will get game time. Fans often tout that the parent club will insert a clause saying how much a player has to play - but I can't see many clubs agreeing to that in these current times. Clubs have to play the best available at that time.
I agree re Swansea. My point was broader in that, with the current stockpiling system, so much outstanding young talent doesn’t play much competitive football. You only improve under match pressure. Maybe a Watford stockpile is testament to how far we’ve come.
Not good enough for the wretched udinese, not good enough for a dreadful swansea side. Yet another terd plucked out of an ocean of diamonds by the Best Scouting Network In The World. Wilmot, dawson, welbeck.....whatever happened to signing mad swarthy foreigners no one's ever heard of? It is no coincidence we're total shyt now we've started signing british journeymen.
I once had a dream that we were a team of 10 Gianni Munari’s and 1 Almen Abdi. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
Playing tonight for Swansea. They’re 4-0 up on the half hour. Safe to say it’s not going to be an intensive workout for their defence tonight.
Aidy will teach him to clear his lines properly...........and HOOF.........and HOOF...........and.......
Encouraging news for him, as it's the start of a new U21 cycle now as a load of players will no longer have been eligible after the summer tournament. He could be involved for 4 years I think if he can force his way into some first team action here or elsewhere.
There was a bizarre number of subs though as in internationals the rest of the squad can be on the bench. I would suspect an injury of sorts.
The problem is that he could be. So far this season our best players have been whichever ones haven't been on the pitch at the time. As soon as any other players have been called upon they've turned out to be as cack as the rest of them. Janmaat was going to save us from the disaster that has been Kiko, and he scores an abysmal own goal on his return. Welbeck and Sarr were going to transform our attack and they did little. Foulquier was going to help tighten us up yet he was subbed after 30 minutes. Cathcart was going to show why he has generally been considered our best CB yet he was as ineffective yesterday as Dawson. And don't get me wrong, I think Dawson is the worst CB that has played for us since we've been back in the Prem, and I would be willing to give Wilmot a chance in his place. But he's also still just a kid who can't get in to Swansea's team and it's clear the issues go deeper than just one player. Chances are we'd still be trash if he came in. I'd rather Kabs back in than Dawson, but our defence would still be poor then (especially with LB such a big issue).
