One must remember we are dealing with some people who proudly wave flags when their team has shamed itself 0-6 on global television. The same players who picked up where they left off at Wembley by losing 0-3 at home to a team considered a relegation contender.

How will we or how should we?

We will carry on with this **** show of a 442.

    We should change to 433.

    So true.
    We are sleepwalking into relegation.
Changes need to be made and soon. On and off the pitch.

I thought that. With last seasons start he looked so much more like a centre forward. I don't recall reading or hearing anything from him since before the cup final-he didn't look like a captain on the field today. I wonder if the signing of Wellbeck signals to him this is nearing the end of his time.

Last time i saw us lose 3-0 at home in the first game of the season was 1971-our third season in Div 2-we were relegated the following May

I'm sure every season we are told that Deeney has lost weight, trained hard, is fighting fit, ready to go etc.

And today it was back ..

A good start - shame about the rest !

Deeney wouldn't play if Success or Okaka were any good ..

It’s the joy this seems to bring him that gets me. Most people are annoyed because we were poor but it seems he is happier to say I told you so

You mean the people who’s opinion isn’t the same as yours. How dare they. They must be stupid not to agree with you

Gerry has to play more central.

    Otherwise we are no good.

Interestingly I think this was the first close season for a few years we didn’t hear any mention of interest in Deeney from other clubs, that I believe says a lot!

According to the all important xG, we got 0.7, they got 0.8.

    Panic over, stand down.

You're missing the point, probably on purpose.

People can have their opinion, what I find ridiculous is those who have said there's "no chance" that we'll go down, as if we are somehow above it or so brilliant it's simply not possible. It's laughably arrogant and worryingly it actually seemed to be mirrored in the players today.

    Very strange.

Was at the game and felt Brighton were the much better team.

Watched sky’s highlights (you get to see about 25 minutes action) and it looked even.

Watch motd highlights and it looked like we shaded it.

Plus stats show 3 attempts on target each and we had more shots and corners overall.

Don’t think we played well but maybe it was just the old not good enough in both boxes.

Not feeling as down about it now. Plus 2 new attacking options to bring in, plus a fitter Pereyra and Deulofeu in correct position to come.

A bit like in the cup final we started both halves ok but once a goal was let in we basically had no answers .

Subs did nothing whilst 2 of theirs scored.

Our record generally isn't good after going a goal down ...

    Motivation? Lack of ideas ?

So, had a little time to digest what I saw today. It was genuinely shocking, the amount of arrogance some of our players were carrying on that field was outrageous. Ben Foster even said it himself, our lads thought they could turn up and we would just win. That mentality is worrying, you’d hope today has kicked that out of them. The 4-2-2-2/4-4-2 whichever way you look at it has totally been sussed out. The squad is perfectly balanced to play 4-3-3 and I really hope we get to see that sometime, Javi has always struck me as flexible so let’s wait and see.

Couple points on individual performances. Holebas really looked like a 35 year old today, really struggled to even get around, how he allows the cross for the second goal is prime example of it. Fosters kicking is horrendous. Deeney, absolutely anonymous. Deulofeu and Pererya don’t look fit. Gray put himself about but missed an absolute sitter. Doucoure turned up for the last 15 minutes. Dawson I thought was good in the air, all over the place for the third. Is he an upgrade? Perhaps he is but it’s probably marginal. Love the creativity Will Hughes brings but at times is frustratingly slow on the wing. When we lose the ball, we seemed to have massive gaps exposing us, was obvious against Real Sociedad and again today. I’d love to say there was a saving grace but there really wasn’t. Z Care is back, so I guess that’s something.

We go again next week, I expect a reaction and with a couple new fresh faces let’s hope for a better performance and result at Everton.

Can someone please tell Javi to stop playing Hughes as a winger. It's really annoying to watch him being played out of position. I rate Hughes, I really do, but playing a central attacking midfielder on the right wing is like watching your 2 year old kid desperately trying to squeeze a square peg into a round hole. It's painful seeing Hughes play in a position that doesn't go hand in hand with his abilities. Afterall, it's affecting our performance - especially on that right wing.

Continuing from that square peg round hole metaphor, someone needs to tap Javi on the shoulder and tell him "look son, it ain't gonna fackin happen".

From what I've seen over the last month you're relentlessly negative. You certainly were over the transfer window. Obviously everyone's pretty negative after yesterday. But you seem to make an art form of it either to gain some sort of weird satisfaction in being able to say "I told you so" if bad sh.t happens to us or via achieving a notoriety as being 'that bloke who's always relentlessly negative'.

As said, I find it weird. But yes, it's entirely possible we could be relegated. Along with about 13 other teams. Happy now?

How old are you? How long have you supported WFC for? Could you point me in the direction of one of your positive posts because I certainly haven't seen one yet?

So would you have preferred it if we hadn't done that then? A massive show of loyalty in the face of adversity praised by all who witnessed it.

I suspect that the majority of us tend towards optimism but are perfectly capable of criticism when we think it's warranted. I know that's what I do. And I think it's quite a good way to be.

It made me cringe so yes I would have preferred it didn’t happen. The players didn’t deserve it after such a meek surrender. Do you think we should have repeated it yesterday when 3-0 down?

It was our second ever Wembley cup final. It was showing loyalty to the club, not the players. No, of course something similar shouldn't have been done yesterday. It wasn't a big enough match.

The noise from our lot yesterday was poor from the off though. Half the 1881 moved to the centre and half of them still at the GT end of the Rookery didn't work at all. For yesterday at least.

The first goal absolutely killed us yesterday, we looked panicked from then onwards. The body language of the players was terrible.
