I wonder if Welbeck will swallow his pride and reduce his demands in the next week or will he sit the season out?? Or will some mug pay him what he wants?
I still think this window has been relatively quiet and will go mad in the last week. There are so many strongly rumoured deals that haven’t happened yet, as well as loads of clubs saying they want to do plenty more business. I just hope next season that we scrap the window finishing early or Europe falls in line with it closing on the eve of the season. Quite why English clubs voted for it is beyond me.
I suppose being a free agent, he will be fairly calm about the window. Sturridge too. If all else fails, the MLS or Middle Eastern clubs will give them what they want for a year. I would say China but their window closes this week.
If Arsenal keep dragging their heals with Tierney, and we had the cash of course, he’s the type of player I’d like to see us in for. Can play right across the back line and has captained both club and country. Convincing him to leave Celtic for a club the size of us would be hard but wages on offer and PL football works in our favour.
That's nothing. Chalo got in the squad when he wasn't even fit enough to play football at all. Chalo > Welbeck.
They should just make the transfer window 2 weeks long. Would be far more interesting than this dragged out nonsense. No-one really does much anyway until the last week/2 weeks so it wouldn’t change much.
Or a novel idea, go back to having no transfer windows at all. Fairly sure they were introduced to make it a level playing field anyway and that clearly hasn’t worked.... (I don’t actually advocate doing this btw)
Brighton in talks with Brentford over Neal Maupay. Yet to meet £20m valuation though according to SSN. The window is definitely moving more now,
I'm hearing Gino has completed his warm up, has a good, firm grasp on the handle and is approaching the final stages of his patented deep-breathing method to get "in the zone", ahead of the big slam shut. Perhaps time for one more hopeful would-be Hornet to squeeze through the gap before it's over.
Bournemouth have spent another £14m this morning. Whether anyone thinks we need to buy players or not, we are certainly getting left behind in terms of activity so far!
I think in their case Bournemouth are being forced into the market with a number of long term injuries.
I’ve seen they’ve suffered a few yes. But this new signing is a winger and none of the injured are wide players so I think this one was happening anyway. Billing was signed before Brooks got injured and Kelly (the other injury) is a new signing early in the window so wouldn’t have been signed due to these injuries. I think they are doing the business they would have wanted to do anyway. They might just do even more now!
He could be a replacement for the injured Brooks, who is a winger. Albeit it wasn't entirely necessary as they.could have used Ibe to cover for him. Whichever, it's certainly strength in depth.
I think how I meant it is that Brooks is a winger in the same way that Hughes is. He plays narrower than a normal winger would. I also meant it as a way of saying that if Hughes or Pereyra got injured for 3 months for us, I very much doubt we would go and spend £14m as a result.
No value buying players from the Championship and that’s just a fact. Far better value in being interested in players from France or Korea who will never be signed.
Coutinho apparently going to a prem club as loan with option to buy. Shades of the deulofeu deal here. Could it be possible?!!!!!
