It’s probably fair to say that it’s a while since Moose roamed freely in the Bronze Age land we now call Hertfordshire. A muntjac that’s been run over by a tosser in a Merc a more up to date image.
They're reintroducing beavers, cranes, storks, ....why not moose (mooses, meese ?) ? It's time for you to run free my friend.
Club anthem? Born free! As free as the Moose roams As free as a central defender Born free to follow your Herts. Live free and beauty surrounds you Deeney still astounds you Each time you look at a star Stay free where no walls divide you You're free as the roaring tide So there's no need to hide Born free and life is worth living But only worth living 'Cause you're born free
Would keep the existing one, it's fine. And if it goes to a vote the existing badge will almost certainly win.
If we're aspiring to be a London club to help with support base and tempting foreign players then swapping the Hart for a Hornet but keeping the distinctive badge design would be my vote. Id change the text to Watford FC as well as that would help improve image right protection prospects.
You added a picture of him after your post. The insuation was obvious. Like putting an insult at the end of the sentence in your reply. You clown.
Not a cautionary tale at all. The new club badge has already been decided. This is just the usual mock democratic process to convince it’s the will of the people. It will be said (with gravitas) that the cartoon Hornet with moose ears landslide winner of this process is amusing and stands out but is not suitable for the international marketing of our club - and then go with the badge already decided. This happened in the Boaty McBoatface decision which was actually named ‘RRS Sir David Attenborough’, which was only 4th in the vote. (I thought ‘RRS It’s Bloody Cold Here’ had a ring to it personally). OR Keep going back to the people to vote again until we get the ‘right’ decision (like the Irish and their EU referendumssss). OR Worst case scenario with the ‘wrong’ result, delay and delay so no decision is ever made (like Brexit). The process will produce a lot of creativity and heat in the subsequent debate, friendships and families will be torn asunder by the vehemence of the opposing views, but the new badge had already been designed and decided on - sorry.
Or easier to switch our nickname to "the Harts" and have "Harry the Hart" prancing about at home games ?
Bit confused why the club are bothering to ask us when it's obvious the new marketing/branding lot have already decided.
Many Thanks CB, your Executive Summary of my in-depth thesis above has just saved many people much wasted time. Lol.
We did have a Hornet type figure as our badge in the 70s.. https://thefootballcrestindex.com/blogs/premier-league-clubs/watford-fc
Didn't a new badge in recent times just imperceptibly change the font? Utter waste of time then and no doubt now, even if it does change. Who really cares? As long as we play well and don't get relegated that's what matters. Any advertising gurus claiming a new badge will bring the Watford brand (puke) into the 21st century (puke) as a recognisable global identity (puke) that fans can engage with (puke) are just lining their pockets. Emperor's new clothes.
Intellectual property rights are certainly driving this one. At least the design has gone out to the fans, unlike Hull, Cardiff and several other clubs. I am a remainer but will accept an orderly and coherent design. No crashing out based on an imposed design. Alot of shirt sales and merchandising riding on this one over a long period.
Not if the voting was, The old badge to remain, or, Some unspecified new badge that will be really great, like the best badge you've ever seen, with money to spare to buy expensive new, homegrown, players, free from UEFA rules. That would go 52/48, but what badge to choose? Three years on and the old badge would be there and the club would be about to put a lunatic in charge to finish the job.
