They take a lot of abuse but I have respect for them. Good bunch before and after the game, didn’t find them arrogant at all. “Where were you when you were ****” just isn’t true as they were getting 30K in League 1 and I’m glad we didn’t stoop to singing it. I’m sure some of their fans wish their old club to be back so although it’s strange I feel slightly sorry for them as the passion has dwindled with success. They were v complementary about our support but that does feel a bit empty after the walloping we received. We as fans did all we could.
I agree. They are a decent bunch of people and it does look like the heart and soul of what made them a good club with a more passion fanbase has been destroyed by Oil giants of the far east. Yes it must be incredible to have a boat load of money to buy anyone you want and pay them god amounts of salary, but I do not think any of their fans really truly do not miss being a more competitive football club. We game them a few decent games before they became the elite of football. I remember a 0-0 away to them (a champo game). Again, the fans are a nice bunch, not a bad word to say against them. They could take a note from our fans and smile and sing more (well, on occasion anyway), but yeah good lot.
I found their attitude refreshing. None of this goading, or can't wait to get on Twitter or fan's forum's to wind up the opposition. They enjoy their victory but are respectful about it. Wolves, Leeds, Leicester, Bournemouth, Palace, West Ham, L*ton are all insufferable. They prefer to goad the teams they beat rather than enjoy their victories. I have a strong dislike for this type of supporter. I want them all the fail, and the list of teams I dislike is getting longer, just because of their fans. I actually like Leicester and Wolves as clubs, but despise their fans.
But this was just another game, just another trophy to them. I saw quite a few of them on the way to the train as I left at 4-0. It was like us playing Fulham at home this season. A game we don't really care about against opposition who we know we are going to beat.
Doing the treble will have meant an awful lot to many City fans. I have always found them to be friendly. Yesterday a few said to me that they can remember what it’s like to get beaten in the way we did. Winning trophies and titles is still fairly recent in their history. They showed respect and humility and I would happily have a pint with those I met.
The fans are the one thing about City I don't dislike, after generations of being an infamous sleeping giant, I don't begrudge them success in and of itself. Obviously we dominated the stands, but seriously, I wonder if they're getting a bit bored of winning stuff when they're financially doped to the gills? The Aguerooooo! moment must have incredible for them, but I do wonder how excited they've got for subsequent triumphs
I spoke to quite a few city fans while waiting in the queue for Wembley Central and they were all really nice and praising of Watford and the performance but I couldn’t believe how utterly unbothered they seemed about just winning the FA cup and a historic treble it was shocking. You would think they maybe they were just day trippers/tourists but they were all from Manchester and supported for decades it’s crazy. So it made me think about the perception of your teams success and if winning trophies and the majority of games, is it really worth it as a supporter? I like supporting a team that has to be shrewd in the transfer market, has to earn every single point in the league, fight to be better year after year. The Man City fans actually came across as bored and if truth be told after the first few trophies were won/brought with their endless wealth I think the Man City fans miss the fight.
Yea I agree, apart from games against top 6 and Champs League knockout games there’s little to get excited for. However, once Pep moves on it might become a bit more exciting for them. Of all the top 6 teams I have most respect for them and their fans.
Actually I've found that, generally, Leicester fans have moved on from all the "Deeney Day" stuff and are pretty complimentary about us. Most were rooting for us yesterday.
Walking back to the station after the match behind 6 City fans. They couldn’t even be bothered to stay to see them lift the trophy. It didn’t mean anything to them. When someone asked them why they didn’t want to watch the team lift the cup they just shrugged their shoulders. If that was us winning it I would be the last out of the stadium. I think the best way forward is to expel the “big 6” in the cups so we can all get back to a level field and enjoy football again.
For me like others have said, with Man City it’s the exact opposite. I was surprised how much noise they made in the build up to the game, compared to Wolves who were in League 1 not long ago and you’d think would have more reason to be passionate. They were a likably noisy bunch, reminded me a bit of Everton but with more verve.
They had a good attitude on that I agree. They didn’t seem to enjoy the victory in any real way though. They didn’t sing apart from when they sang after a goal. The supporters I saw after the game looked miserable. Many leaving early as they were fed up with how **** getting around London is. Wolves and Palace fans seem to be a bunch of twunts. Not heard anything out of Luton, haven’t rubbed it in as far as I know, fair play. Leicester - well we have Filbert and their support seems okay to me. Leeds fans can be thuggish as they always have been. The one Leeds fan I know Gerry, I commiserated with him over a pint this lunchtime. Muff took the rivalry thing with humour and intelligence mainly. The neutral supporters I know all mentioned our support and how we didn’t stop I hate wolves as a club mainly because their fans are besterds and all the hype about their ****y Mexicans and their super duper wonder agent man
Not proud to admit that we left with 15 mins left to play as was thoroughly depressed with the situation. Was stunned at the amount of City fans who had also left at that time - 4 up in an fa cup final and you leave with 15 to go? Shocking.
Not sure if you were in the queue when there was one very drunk irritating city fan who, with his equally irritating female acquaintance, when they were squawking out chants. I found that difficult to listen to. As for their fans, seemed ok, in the main, but completely nonplussed by the whole occasion. Some were moaning about the costs to the fans of their team’s success. I know I’m an old grump, but I wasn’t in the mood to be empathetic.
The domination of the game by the big clubs is a major problem to all but sky . Was thinking whilst driving home how difficult it is for the smaller clubs to win any silverware so sad when supporters of the bigger teams can't be bothered to celebrate success. Wolves fans and their far flung Mexican brethren seem to have been the most vociferous. Still don't understand their huge upset over Deeney's remarks. My least favourite fans in the premier League.
I just don't understand this line of thought. We've just been in our first final for 35 years. So surely we are closer to silverware than we have been since the 80s?
Just because a club is rich doesn’t mean their supporters are. I was talking to a City fan who came down with his wife and three daughters who was explaining how how incredibly expensive it is to follow City because of all the big games. I know you might think it’s a nice problem to have, but really it’s not. Nothing better then being a Watford fan and getting to enjoy the occasional day in the sun and appreciate it when it happens.
Maybe like Pep they weren't content with 6-0 and 2 goals for Sterling .. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/48327995
On Molineux Mix, in response to one of the few voices of reason on their Watford-related threads, who said that they should just move on, one fan claimed it was only because of Deeney and Foster that they were laying into us and were glad we lost. Er apart from calling us cheats, and slagging off everything that anti-Watford people like to slag off about our club, including our fans, history, colours, the town (even comparing it unfavourably to Luton!), Hertfordshire, Elton, our “pointless existence”. I’m all for a bit of banter but this is really bad sportsmanship, and pathetically not coming from kids or students, but 50-75-year-olds assuming they’re not lying about the ages on their profiles. For all their faults as a fan base, I thought Wolves fans were more level-headed than that and any vitriol was mostly reserved for their West Midlands rivals. Guess I was wrong...
Wolverhampton a scummy ******** and unsurprisingly much of their fan base mirrors that. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
True but we knocked 3 of them out of the cup in the first place so earned our right to get spanked by Citeh!!
their tactics are better suited to playing the big boys. What I dont understand is why cant we play like that against the big boys, and go to our usual tactics against the lesser teams? Quite strange really.
