You’re probably being sarcastic as is your nature when you’re in a pessimistic mood, but actually I think there is an argument to be made that they’ve not been as impressive in the FA cup over the last three or four seasons as in the league. As I posted earlier on the other thread. Basically it pointed out City almost lost to Swansea, only just beat Brighton, lost last season to Wigan etc. They also failed to win the Carabo Cup this season in 120 mins. Funny how in our discussions at the start of the season you argued, totally correctly as it turned out, that Gracia was a good appointment. Here we are now with me not ruling out his chances of guiding us to the cup (although I know it’s a big big ask) whereas you seem to have given up all hope already.
As being melancholic and self pitying is your nature, if you want to go down the "getting personal" route. Your points were good in the previous post you made, however, you were just focusing on City and did not factor in Watford's mental frailties when coming up against a top 6 side. When we go a goal down it invariably means a white flag is waved. It sucks all our belief from us. One goal has often led to two and game over within minutes. Our biggest problem is scoring the first goal. We've only done that at Spurs away, but ended up losing. However Success missed a sitter just before they equalised. Had that gone in we'd have probably gone on to win the game. We HAVE TO take the lead in order to make City doubt themselves. I've only given up hope because I analyse what's gone on before. We are not good enough to keep a clean sheet against this type of opponent. 12 games this season, and no clean sheet. So that means we'll have to score at least twice. This is not anything to do with Gracia. He's picked the side to navigate us to a cup final. He walks on water. No, it's more to do with key components that trip us up over and over again. Poor defending and no clinical finishing when on top. We've played well in virtually every match against a top 6 side, so it's not down to how we play. It's the lack of quality over 90 minutes that trips us up. We should be a very awkward opponet for a top side, but we're not. We're probably the side these teams relish playing the most.
Haha melancholic and self-pitying It’s nice being back on here. A much better and well reasoned post too. Hard to disagree with much of it.
He's hardly pulled up trees this season has he? Depends if he wants game time or not. Worth a try however unlikely.
Absolutely 100% spot on horse sh1t. Outplayed Arsenal with 10 men. Stupid mistake for the goal Outplayed United Outplayed Chelsea for the first half Outplayed Arsenal away Beat Spurs and should have got a point in away game. Even City we’ve very much been in the games. This season we’ve played far better against the top 6 but results have let us down. Hardly a Championship type team
Wish the EPL would introduce a 'slightly better team for a small period of the game' bonus point. Might have finished 7th.
I don’t think I said for small parts of the game. If you’re going to quote somebody don’t change what they said
Maybe if you watched the games instead of trying to be a comedy genius on here you would have seen that we did have the better of a lot of these games and Certainly Man Utd we were far the better team
How do you know I was trying to be a comedy genius at the time the games were going on, weren't you watching? Might indicate why you think we dominated those games when we didn't.
More than anything about the result of this game, I’m troubled by the apparent growing trend across this forum of referring to Gray as Dre.
That's why some fans call him Dre. Cos its his name. Like Caps, Mapps or Maxi. Same same. Personally I call him 'Andregoal' cos he scores so many goals!!
