Come on Chabs , get it together . It would be tragedy if a player of his calibre doesn’t fulfil his potential .
What an absolutely disastrous 18 months it's been for him. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he never plays for us again at this point.
Thank you for for your condescending correction of my grammar However, I actually originally wrote "HAD", but I thought that would mean I had already written him off, which would be unfair. Hence I wrote "HAS" because that would likely still be the case providing he fully recovers from his injury.
That wasn't about your grammar. Nor was it condescending. This is condescending, but also true: "You didn't understand what you voted for and still don't." ( )
Sorry mate, it was a joke about writing Chalobah off already. Didn’t know you’d already changed it from that.
In case people haven't seen this, an update of some sort at last https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...for-watford-insists-javi-gracia-a4106486.html Says he his fitter now than he was a couple of months ago which could account for his lack game time and give some little optimism that he can still come back.
Lets hope he is fully recovered and back to his old self! If so he should be pushing for a regular spot in the team. If not this season as I expect he is still a little rusty and lacking in match fitness because of the long length of his injury, then hopefully next season for sure. It would be like having a new quality signing if he gets back to the player he was before his injury.
Even if he gets the odd run out between now and the end of the season we then go into Summer and by the time the new season starts it will be almost two years football he'll have missed. I absolutely loved him when he was here on loan and thought he looked hugely promising at the start of the Ssssilva reign but I just can't see him ever coming near to fulfilling his potential after that length of time out. So sad but I suspect his race at the very top level has been run
Really? He’s 24 ffs. I’ve got more faith in the ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’ mantra. And Nath is class. Unless that injury physically reduces movement and strength, I can’t see missing large parts of 2 seasons affecting his abilities..
Yes, he's got time on his side and yes he is a class act. But you hit the nail on the head. How can an injury that is so severe that it keeps you off the field for two years not reduce movement and strength? And that's only the physical side. Mentally he faces a massive challenge.
It was a very serious injury which can take a while to heal (I speak from experience) and I think in days gone by he would have played quite a lot this season but because we've had a very good season there was no need to rush him. He is only 24 so time is on his side and I believe they are making sure that he is 100% before coming back full time and allowing him to have a good career. This is all purely guesswork but I hope that's what we're doing and next season he will be able to replace Doucoure if he leaves
Oh OK, lets write him off then It’s a cautious, slow recovery under the medical team so he doesn’t get constant set backs. He’s gonna come back and make you eat your words.
We’ve got a first class medical team. (Yes we do ) He’s a class act. He’s been given time to ease back slowly. He’s coming back full time next season. OR We all choose, because tbh none of us knows.
Thankfully, me writing him off will have absolutely no bearing on what actually happens! Its simply that I don't recall any other cases where a player has come back from that length of time out. The fact that he's totally fallen out the picture doesn't bode well. Nothing would make me happier than if he were to make me eat my words - I'm a Watford fan and he had unbelievable potential a couple of years ago.
I didn't notice him on the pitch celebrating with the other squad members at Wembley. What's happening with him? Is he just out of favour or is his injury problem ongoing?
Funny...I was just thinking the same. Even Prodl was on the pitch, Penaranda was forefront of the changing room photo, but no Nat. It's not a good sign. Such a shame, as he's an incredible talent.
His instagram has shown him seemingly not training at the club. Maybe he's been allowed time away to begin 'pre-season' early so he comes back ready for next year. Would be such a shame if that injury derailed his career.
Yes Paul Franklin would have gone on to be a great player. As would Nick Wright. As would Richard Johnson
Assuming we sell Douc s in summer that still leaves us with a decent roster of CMs Capoue Chalobah Cleverley Quina With Hughes and Wilmot able to play there too.
I think Gifton’s reputation has been burnished some way beyond his achievements and future potential pre-injury. He had numerous stinkers and only sporadic good games, although he obviously was a long way from maturity and had scope for improvement. The fact he was having an unusually storming game v Sunderland and was taken out by a truly disgusting foul has only played into this.
