I disagree, a lot of the time there was aassive gap between the two Cardiff Center Backs. If we had played Success instead he would have beaten either CB in a foot race. That being said the movement between Deeney and Deulofeu was very good. If only Success could pass half as well as Deeney.
I agree regarding Isaac's passing although he played a lovely little pass to GD in the box in the second half, when GD shot over with TD and AD free. I expect and hope Isaac will improve this area of his game as he matures.
Deeney isn’t a goal threat anymore and hasn’t been for some time, but like a lot of people have said his link up play and occupying defenders is probably the best we have in the team. This allows other players greater opportunities in front of goal. However I see similarities in our squad as when Klopp took over at Liverpool. A decent squad with lots of potential to begin with and over a few years adding quality players not quantity they are now challenging for the title. I think if we approach the transfer market looking for 1 or 2 quality players year on year we can look up the table and challenge for a place in Europe.
Deeney is ideal for certain games but some games maybe Success is a better option or maybe Gray, ok not the last one but this is the point of a squad. When a team sits deep like Cardiff did then he’s ideal but if they play a high line like Fulham do then the pace of Success or Delefeou is the better option. His role is captain cannot be underestimated either and I’m not sure we have that kind of leader in the club.
Shame the rest aren't really up to it either ... No wonder none of them have more than 3 goals this season !
Thought he did well first half tonight. Still happy to ditch him though. Below required standard for 2 seasons now.
In fairness to Gray, despite his useless first touch and general lack of a footballing brain, his three goals have come at a rate of one every 145 minutes on the pitch, which isn't that bad. Deeney's had almost twice as much playing time and has only managed the same amount. For all his many faults, Gray is by far the biggest goal threat out of our strikers.
When was the last time before today that Troy scored in open play in consecutive games? Interesting in his post match interview he said he was working on spending more of his time in the box this season
When he has the ball you can see he really thinks about his next pass before delivering it, unless some hit and hope merchants, he is classy and it showed when he came on today!
The time has come to get rid. Troy Deeney is a stupid liability that the team needs like a hole in the head. He’s more interested in promoting his brand than playing football. He thinks he’s a big celebrity and is a legend in his own mind. He’d rather spend his energy on thinking of controversial things to say in post match interviews than make an effort on the pitch for Watford Football Club. He’s an attention seeking bell end and I’m sure the other players think the same. Tom Cleverley should be captain. Peneranda is the future for Watford’s number nine shirt and Gracia should be rotating him and Success in that position rather than sticking with an overweight, absent minded dinosaur of a player who just isn’t interested any more because he’s been on Question of Sport and thinks he’s a media luvvie. Send him to Birmingham City where he’s always been expected to end his career. I’d drive him there myself but I don’t think his beer gut and big inflated head will fit in my car.
A troll with some valid points? Big issue is we only have 3 other strikers and none of them are exactly reliable albeit good to see all 3 involved in goals yesterday.
So what's wrong with the Troy Deeney thread on the team bus? Why do we need a new thread to discuss this?
Agreed. Fat, useless, hasn't scored in 50 games, skips matches to be a pundit. Hope when we get Eddie Howe, he gets rid. ******* sick of it.
This is what happens when we win a few. The"Fellowship of the Miserable" goes on a search for something to satiate their need to moan and gather attention.
