Yes m8, I looked five posts above mine and saw it. Should have done that before I posted really. Maybe next time eh? Lol
Need to bump the AG thread up. Not much said about him but he's influencing how we're playing. Deserves credit. Also came 3rd in the goal of the month & nice to see we're now getting some reasonable value from that transfer fee.
He works bloody hard, presses well and has physicality as well as pace. Most importantly though I think is his movement, he drags defenders around with his intelligent runs which creates space for the others. This is something I don't think we've had upfront for a long time and I don't think anyone else at the club can do. (Well, maybe Cucho Hernandez!) This really helps our system and why I'm happy to see him playing even if he isn't banging them in. Having said that, there are definitely weaknesses in his play, mostly technical, but if he had a top notch first touch and clinical finishing he'd be a top-tier player. If he could get to a position where he's scoring just a little more, as well as making these other contributions, I think we've got to be happy with him.
Yeah I agree with what you say, but I don't think is going to improve on the technical side at least not enough to be a first choice decent PL striker. Therefore I think we should be striving to find someone who can fill that role, but AG could still be a reasonable impact sub with his pace so maybe we could keep him for that purpose, but not as one of our main strikers.
Hopefully we can pick up that Messi guy in the lone window to fill the technical goalscoring striker roll.
I think he's doing OK. As others have said he does work hard and makes a lot of good runs, and I imagine he will finish the season with somewhere between 8-10 league goals which will be a decent return, but on the flip side he is still woeful at times from a technical perspective. He often looks so, so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and everything just looks extremely awkward and unnatural. Like I say though, all in all doing a decent enough job despite his obvious limitations.
Likely correlates with us playing Foster, Kabasele, and Cathcart, who are all pretty decent passes of the ball. I agree though, there has been a noticeable improvement.
For me, that was his best performance in a Watford shirt on Saturday. He was excellent. He was actually getting into good positions and getting shots off. This is something I've not seen him do in many games previously. He's forming a good partnership with Deeney and it's great to see him finally start to live up to the transfer fee. His work rate and aggression have never been in doubt, but his technical qualities have left a lot to be desired since he signed. Now he must have worked hard on this as his performances have dramatically improved to a level where I don't think you can think of dropping him.
Typical Pozzo foresight, bought on the cheap a season early to develop him & in preparation for when we will need him. I'm sticking to this anyway.
Who would have thought a player who flourished playing with a big man up top as a partner in the past would suddenly flourish now? The couple of times we done 442 last season he looked so much better and it's certainly the best form of his Watford career at the moment. His touch has improved massively.
Reminds me of the home game with Southampton last season. 0-2 down at half time, played off the park. Deeney brought on for the second half, and we battered them. Gray got his goal, and the pair of them continued to link really well - only for ssssilva to inexplicably sub Gray for Okaka on 73 minutes and hand the momentum straight back to the Saints. Doucoure's injury time sleight of hand got snakey out of jail (albeit for only 1 more week).
What kind of It's A Knockout training session is Gracia running here? Beginning to wonder if RC wasn't right all along. Watford 0 Udders 3
Hmmm - is this the team practising a new goal celebration routine? Staying in the middle of the field will piss the fans off in my humble opinion...
I thought he might be good at this. Doing what comes naturally. https://twitter.com/i/status/1066028621632917504 youtu.be/AlloECzB8JQ
Injured I think. One of those mystery ones where the medical team don't give any info. I'd like to see him back given Deeney and Success recent displays.
Agree. Always wondered if it's beyond the realms of possibility for Burnley to take him back before the add-ons accumulate. SD knows how to play him,he would fit straight back in to that team & he could be the super hero to score the goals & keep them up. Regards, Gino.
I think he could still have a part to play here in the second half of the season, but if there’s a Championship club willing to stump up some cash in January to boost their promotion bid, or replace somebody just sold, I’d take it without hesitation. It’s a shame it never really worked out for him here. I was quite excited when we signed him, because it looked like we’d finally signed a striker with a bit of pace and an eye for goal. Turns out he’s not that quick, nor does he have much of an eye for goal.
It's unlikely he'd go in this window, IMO, but I think he'll go back to Luton if they get promoted. The big question is could they afford him? Probably not, but I know they love him there and I'm sure he'd be happy to go back. The question is, since his injury has anyone thought we need him back, or he's a big loss. Not really, so this tells me we don't need him. He's not missed, but just part of the squad that makes the bench.
