New Years eve parties to me are on a par with Lands End, ie forced enjoyment at a cost. The older I get the less inclined I am to go out and "celebrate". I do like a firework though so midnight is a blast. However, I would like to be the first to wish you and your families a happy and prosperous 2019. Anyone for park run tomorrow?
Don't enjoy going out for it myself anymore, either; it's amateur night. I'd far rather stay in with family/friends with a few drinks and no one driving. I won't even take a taxi NYE; the taxi driver might be sober, but sadly there are plenty of others on the roads who aren't. Hope everyone has a happy NY though!
Happy new year all, from up north. Except I'm actually at a house party in Watford. So happy new year from Watford. Have a good one. See you all on the other side. x
New years eve party already done. Heady days with small kids in tow. Managed 5.30 til 7 and two whole beers. Mental.
Youngest son* went down with "flu-like" virus on 23rd. I* go down with same virus on 24th (and TV's develops fault). One of my molars cracks during Xmas lunch (on a soft-baked parsnip) - can't get an emergency appointment anywhere and receive advice to "...minimise eating and drinking for the next 72 hours...". Youngest son and I knocked flat for 36hrs on Boxing day morning. Get my tooth "done" and "well-mellow" after anesthesia on 28th. Two elder children** (18 & 16) literally knocked unconscious with same "flu-like" virus on night of 28th requiring constant monitoring of temperature and ensuring they're hydrated. Two eldest children able to take baths, but still ill/weak (two hours ago). *Both of us had our 'flu jabs. **Didn't have 'flu jabs.
What, for wishing you a happy New year because you're having such a #### time at the moment? Yes I'm quite happy with that.
Not a fan of New Years Eve either but did go out to a local hotel and now feel pretty rubbish Happy new year to you all
Happy new year to all Forum participants, together we make being " Fans " of WFC more interesting, informative and good fun! Hears to celebrating more wins in 2019 and beyond!
I did this by going to Australia. After a 5 week trip, the missus & I realised that we hadn't smoked. Odd as we were both regulars but change of scenery & all that. A couple of stogies soon after my return & I ended up feeling like Horace the next day. Since then, I've kept a clean sheet for 28 years. Good luck!
Happy New Year everyone. A few sore heads here but nothing a bacon butty, a box of Celebrations and copious amounts of caffeine won't sort out, while festering in front of Everton vs Leicester. Needless to say, my New Year's resolution of becoming fitter and healthier starts tomorrow....
That was the first New Year sober for about 35 years. My daughter and her friends were being quoted eye watering prices for a taxi back from their party so I stepped up and said I'm happy to drive them home. I popped in to a friends party during the evening and even managed to enjoy it. Then at 2am I could enjoy my favourite sport of all time and that's annoying taxi drivers by driving like they do the rest of the year. One other good thing about staying sober is a nice quick park run this morning at 9am while most of the nation was still well asleep.
Happy New Year to all my fellow 'Orns, and it's just been made even happier because "The Snake" and his sidekick just lost
60th anniversary of the defeat of the tyranny and the triumph of the Revolution! Fraternal greetings to all comrades! Then Now 60 years and more! - Revolution!
In bed by 10, not ill but NYE has never been worth staying up for. Hugely overrated 'celebration'. Awoken as usual by selfish neighbours setting off fireworks!
