    Ah, Slav. Lovely Slav.
Hoping for good things from this. Alas, I probably won’t see a whole lot of this one due to my dashing round London for Open House/Heritage Open Weekend.

My favourite philosopher is Aristotle, whose theory of ethics rests on character development. The more you practice virtuous behaviour, the better you get at being morally good. Not sure who in our club this would fit, although Holebas is well practiced in getting booked. Aristotle rightly claimed that it easier to get into bad habits than good, so in Holebas' case the virtue of patience is lacking, his irascibility shines through. Success's lack of modesty undoubtedly led to the shameless 'Bailey's incident'.

It seems that Gracia has helped build up the team's collective courage, patience and temperance this season, with no lack of magnificence from the likes of Pereyra and Doucoure. However, the perfect role model for virtuous behaviour on the football pitch isn't one of ours. That accolade goes to the jug-eared crisp promoter, Gary Lineker, who was never booked throughout his playing career.

Off the pitch, it's a different story. Fitting the Aristotelian ideal of the perfect person (other than himself) I give you the one and only Graham Taylor. I suspect he didn't study philosophy (other than anything football related of course) but if he did, I'm sure he'd have been a fan of Aristotle. However subconsciously, GT practiced Aristotle's twelve moral virtues to the extent all of them would come naturally in dealing with anyone he came across. A true role model worthy of the name.

As for the goalkeeper, I'd go for contemporary (just!) Brazilian philosopher Hurelho Gomes, someone whose philosophy on life I'd like to hear over a pint or two!

    Bravo, MiB!

    A marvellous & considered post.

I suspect others might leap on other aspects of Aristotle & make different conclusions.

    But that is fine.

The older I get, the more I think you have to separate the person & the idea. People are small, human & inconsistent. Inspirational ideas are there forever.

    (Long para for me.)

Grab what you can from where you can, & try to be a better person.

    2-3 the Horns.

Thanks for clearing that up. I assumed he was just trying to say that Deolefeu and Mariappa would not be starting.

These are the types of games that make me nervous. It will all depend on our players mind-set for this one. Yes we have played brilliantly so far this season but we cannot go into this game thinking we will ‘ave ‘em. They will be looking at this game as a must win and will be up for it. If we don’t match their drive, passion, fight and desire to win, we will lose.

There’s a walking tour I’m planning on doing which takes in some Art Deco houses and properties in Stanmore. There’s also a house in Wembley where the owner has restored the interior to how it would have been styled when it was first built in the 1930s.

Speaking of Metroland, I've always loved the white-and-green blocks on Pinner Road in North Harrow, those curved windows are fabulous. Seems inspired by cruise liners of the time.

We’ll need to be wary of an upset here. They may have gotten a win against Burnley, but they’ll be out to really try and make an impression against a big big team.

Posted in the tickets thread, but will also drop here as i'd imagine it's more likely to be seen. Anyone needing a ticket for the game this saturday, read on, if not, please ignore:

Initially purchased 3 tickets for Fulham away this weekend, 2 we got together in initial window, and then acquired the third on the tuesday morning shortly before we sold out our allocation.

The third ticket is no longer going to be used, however please note this is a restricted view seat. I've personally never been to the Cottage before so not sure quite how restricted the view is likely to be, but happy to offload to any willing takers. Face value of ticket is £28.

Ping me a private message if interested.

Am I mad or were they used for the establishing shots as the location of the main character's flat in the BBC sitcom 'My Hero'? I always thought it, but was a child at the time so I don't necessarily trust my own judgement...

Well, if there's anyone here not going to the game who's interested, the walking tours begin at 10am and 2pm from Stanmore tube station.

Used to walk past that every day on the way to School back in the early 2000s

Bit of pointless trivia, they used it for My Hero (Ardal O'Hanlon and Hugh Dennis were in it) which was on BBC.

I think the Fulham fans in general over there seem to be taking it as meant, in good humour.

Often baffles me how some fans take the previews so seriously and personally when they are so clearly just tongue in cheek posts for a bit of a laugh.

As one points out, makes a change from the general boring standard format usual previews.

I'm going 2-2 on this. I'd honestly be happy with a draw to keep the points ticking over.
