Apparently, we're for sale Early rumour is that https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/ has made an offer.............. https://twitter.com/WFCforums/status/1038320088846422017
What happens if the new owners come in and asset strip CliveoftheKremlin, Davidmsawyer and whoever else actually contributes decent content? Do we have to start up an AFC Watford forum?
The new owner is going to take over and inject some fresh enthusiasm I’ve got a lot going on in life now, so would rather someone give this the attention it deserves.
Interesting. I'd heard that Reids was fronting a Reddit bid using insider knowledge and lots of complex analyses..
I'm thinking of bidding. I'll only keep the politics section though and ban anyone who doesn't agree with me.
For me, the message board represents the finest and most noble expression of internet usage. Our pictures must be created with humble words. Thought and consideration needs to go into what you write. It can be short or it can be long. It can be ugly or beautiful. But is it a dying art? Is it a bit analogue and Windows XP? Are message boards for the scrapheap? Nowdays the youth them, they only like watching these selfie-style, matchday experience, vlog videos. The ones where they say "hey Guys!" a lot and laugh like drains at things that aren't funny whilst imploring you to subscribe.
You've done a good job with the place and certainly moved it on from where it was previously. The new forum software is so much better than VBulletin. Good luck with whatever you're up to.
Probably - I think Liam Fox arranged it as part of a Trade Deal during his last trip there. As part of the deal, we get a Chinese keyboard.
Fair play. You've been a benevolent, although silent, dictator and for that I'm sure we're all thankful. It just never occurred to me there'd be a price tag on this place.
I have to admit I had no idea anyone was in control of this forum. I assumed that, like the rest of the Internet, it was down to genuine magic or perhaps smoke and mirrors.
I clicked on this as I thought it would have more information on the sale but it just took me to the home page so I came back here and clicked on this as I thought it contained information on the sale. I am now stuck in some sort of Star Trek temporal loop which I cannot escape from. I was only able to get this message to you by putting some sort of causality mcguffin into a convenient Android in an attempt to get out of the mess I’ve got myself into.
Hopefully whoever buys is a supporter who wants to maintain and improve (if that's possible).Hopefully not a businessman who sees an opportunity to slap adverts everywhere to try to make it a serious money making venture.
Dear all I am worried that both Ming and myself will be affected by this sale. We had a good understanding with the current owners. Thinking about it though, maybe we could launch a bid to buy this site and name it ITKwfcforums.com. New users will have a probationary period to see if they are ITK. Current users will also need to prove their worth. Tim
I don’t understand. Previously this website was not worth anything. Ads were added basically to keep it running. I don’t think it makes a profit? Are we now saying that ad revenue from a few hundred Watford fans is worth £10000? Madness
I suspect there is an algorithm based on the ranking the site has in search engines and the volume of traffic it receives. If someone were to try and make the site a revenue stream, with the number of users, it may be worth 10k. I must say, however, that would be the death of this forum in its current format.
