Seem to remember in the depths of my mind Luther broke his kneecap in 5-1 win v Man U, a few days after the 5-1 win away at Spurs, could be imagining it bit dont think he will be back any time soon
Luther cracked his head on Gary Bailey's knee, split it open and fractured his skull. Missed the Liverpool game three days later, as you might imagine, which was the final game of the season. Me and Tony Marks were the first people from the Club to see him in WGH the next day.
As somebody who has broken their kneecap as well as dislocating it and tearing all the tendons off it, there is quite a long way back. 3 years before I started playing cricket and football again but I am 45 years old and not associated with a pro club. I'm sure his recovery is far better looked after than mine was but it can be a long road back. Not sure about learning to walk again but there is a lot of building the muscle up in the leg again (my left leg was about half the size of my right within a year) which sometimes causes issues. Absolutely no point rushing him back but would be nice to know how he is getting on
Shouldn’t JG test his match fitness through the half time penalty shootouts? If his knee is ****ed & he can’t kick the ball 12 yards, he’ll fit right in.
Started the game a little rusty but grew into the game. Need to ease him back into Premier League football for sure
Well if Luke Shaw can be called up after a few games then if Chalobah plays more often England will come calling..
Glad he was rested so long to allow him to properly build back up the knee and surrounding muscles. Rather than get him back on the pitch too early it seems the right call was made for him rehabilitate slowly to prevent some kind of relapse or other injury due to coming back too soon! Too get in nearly a full 90 minutes was wonderful to see! Chaloback! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly, he probably only got a call up because someone at the FA think he's on loan from Chelsea. Hughes on the other hand, far more deserving doesn't have a big club on his CV.
FA conspiracy to cause a rift between our two aspiring midfielders; calling one up but leaving the other out to dry. They're scared we're going to upset the status quo, so they're trying to take us down from the inside.
Seems to be a few Chelsea connections in the squad called up like Mount and Barkley . Pleased for Chalobah but how fit he is going to potentially playing Spain and Croatia .
how does southgate justify picking chalobah over hughes? Nats hardly kicked a ball in the PL this season.
Great for Chalobah to get straight back into the squad, shows how highly Southgate thinks of him. Surely Hughes can't be too far off though, especially if he keeps playing at the standard of this season so far.
Given the increased size of squad this time around and the fact he’s added Mount (yet to play in PL, minimal U-21 experience, one full season of senior football at Vitesse Arnhem), Winks (again, barely kicked a ball this season or most of last season) and indeed, Chalobah (again, barely kicked a ball and looked dead on his feet after 60 mins of a League Cup game) tells me that Hughes is quite far away from the squad and would have to be playing out of his skin to get selected now. I mean scoring most weeks good. When you add in the fact that England need creative midfielders who can play inside and wide (Hughes also has the added bonus of being a rare left-footer), and he’s still not selected, it tells me that Southgate either doesn’t rate him or has been negligent in having him watched this season. England’s loss is our gain as he’ll stay training with the squad but I feel very sorry for the guy. Picking Mount over him sends a terrible message.
Catch a Chalobah and put him in your pocket Never let him fade away Catch a Chalobah and put him in your pocket Save him for a rainy day For Javi may come and tap him on the shoulder Some Sunday night And just in case he feels he wants to hold him He'll have a pocket full of starlight etc etc...
How dare you insinuate that i'm ever sober! Possibly very cringey but I only did it for the fun of it after hearing the song in an episode of Lost
Ah, that would explain the cringeworthyness. Perhaps I should create a chant for Okaka out of the song 'Little Donkey' or even better for Gino, 'He's got the whole world in his hands'.
Yup. Also Javi said "other players are with different problems but I prefer to wait until tomorrow." Here comes the injury crisis!
