i dont quite get why Okaka gets such a bad press on here. A career with better than a goal every 7 games is not too shabby. As a squad player (based on matches to date) he is a better squad option than Success
I presume if we're looking to offload him, that Gino has a striker lined up to come in once the loan window opens. Maybe Paco Alpaca?
Sorry if I'm being whooshed, but what the ****?! One in seven is a bloody abysmal rate for a centre forward
Hear, hear. My rule of thumb has always been that your best goal scorer should be getting 1 goal in every 3 starts on average. Anyone getting 1 in 2 is a top striker and any better than that is a top, top striker. By the way, I don’t like the modern way of quoting ‘appearances’ as there is no distinction between full games and subs. Years ago it was always “Blissett: 15 goals in 29 + 4 games”.
From what I can make out from this forum we can only get him on loan at the moment. The transfer fenestration re-opens in January.
i dont quite get why Success gets such a bad press on here. With a career average of a goal every 6 games - but one goal every 20 in the Premier League, he will be our best back up option to our first choice strikers.
i dont quite get why Doyley gets such a bad press on here. With a career average of 2 goals every thousand or so games, we should recall him from his loan and he will be our best back up option to our first choice strikers.
We can once the Loan window opens again in January 2019. Until then its Okaka or Success if neither Deeney or Gray manage a goal every three games
I played in a charity game at the Vic with Luther, must have been about 18 years ago. He played CB, and got bored in the second half, strode forward and pinged one off the bar from about 35 yards. Based on this ITK knowledge, I still think he could do a job for us.
I've just twigged on something. Is that Bodgan in goal? He really doesn't have a good history with us.
I remember vaguely seeing Luther in such a game at centre back. I never recalled him playing with a collie though
Crown jewels etc. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-linked-with-move-to-claudio-ranieris-fulham/
Ranieri would probably get the best out of him & turn him into a goal machine at Fulham. You can see how he could fit in well there as a focal point (for 30-45 minutes). He didn't work for us over the long term, not quite the right fit for the modern day Watford's inter continental Tika Taka, however Stef should never be forgotten, he was the sole reason we beat Everton 3-2 in QSF era. A result probably not mentioned on here often enough. He'd be deadly in Champ (for 15-20 minutes) which is probably where he'll end up if Fulham don't take him.
I don't know if the rumours of fallings out are true. It does seem, however, that he's had trouble getting and staying fit. As a striker, there's enough about him to hold up the ball, run with it and get into dangerous areas, but holistically, none of that matters if he's only fit occasionally and only then for 30 minute bursts and even less, if he's causing issues for coaches behind the scenes. There is definitely a reasonable player in there, but maybe it's going to come down to having a coach with whom he has a great relationship to unlock it. Also, he's not high enough our pecking order to merit any sort of special treatment to help him boost his confidence or find form.
