According to the ever reliable Sports Witness (ho hum) we were never in for him and it's all fake news from the Catalan media. Not sure I believe any of it from anyone, other than to say from the off the club said it would be a quiet window. http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-didnt-make-proposal-sign-player-no-real-option-moving-pl/
Exactly what im getting at! All these so called journo's have an agenda. So excuse me if I don't take some catalan journos twitter account as gospel!
Fair enough! But the point is we don't know, but we do know what the club says officially and that hasn't altered.
Sorry. Was talking about your groping suggestion at the GT statue ceremony. Really does seem quite unpleasant when I read it back now. Mods. Can someone change it to minty fresh breath please?
I don't know about anyone else, but I still think this is going to happen by the end of the loan window. My Spidey senses tell me no one else will come in for him and Barca will try and offload him on the cheap. You didn't hear it first here.
The loan window: The period after the transfer window when club chairmen can get great deals on borrowing to pay for the woefully overrated shyte they just promised billions for.
I was of the understanding there is no loan window for premier league clubs. No more incoming until Jan now
The only thing we could do is get him and loan him for 6 months to say a smaller La Liga side. I was taken in by the Catalan media/ agents on this one but Barca were fuelling the fire no doubt. The big Turkish clubs were doing the same to get hold of EPL cash. Barca, PSG and many other clubs are struggling with FFP requirements and have to sell in order to buy. They are obviously desperate to get a 80k per week salary off their books. Maybe we have done a deal for Talisca to come in January and Gino and Garcia may prefer to wait. The main thing is to keep as many of our current squad fit and ready when called upon.
You are still allowed to loan players with surnames of 2 syllables. Unfortunately he has 3. Close but no cigar. Messi remains an option.
For those that don't understand 'jokes' or irony, the EPL transfer window is shut but we can loan or sell players to other leagues such as Scotland and those in Europe. We can also loan to the EFL i.e. the Championship. We cannot register any players until January.
Theoretically we can sign and register free agents (unemployed) up to the point we have to name the 25 but don't get your hopes up - stars such as Nasri / Mbokani Sako and Ben Arfa are the "cream" of that list!
So what is to stop us buying him as Udinese, loaning him to Falkirk who then loan him to us, then we make it permanent in January. I expect this is what's happening and is typical Pozzo.
It would be simpler to play him every week as a triallist. Have no idea about the legalities of that though...
Or...Udinese sign him permanently, then cancel his contract by mutual consent, we sign him as a free agent then pay Udinese £20m for 6 footballs and a tracksuit in January.
The irony window closed/slammed shut last week. Only laconic observations in a foreign language now permitted.
