Why would we sell one of our only two first team strikers without at least one other set-in-stone ready to replace them?
Alternatively... Buy why would Burnley move for Troy on a last big pay day contract for five years, just to make him fourth choice striker behind Sam Vokes?!?! I imagine that is not what they are envisaging.
Well at best he'd be third choice, given that Wood and Barnes are better than him, and really, Vokes is at least as good.
My source for what? I'm just speculating why it would be incredibly daft for us to sell Deeney at this moment in time given our current lack of strikers.
Not really sure what Burnley want to achieve here. Deeney is no doubt on more than any of their players, so how exactly would they sell moving clubs to be on less money than he is now?
https://twitter.com/AdamLeventhal/status/1025396623965388801 Seems like the club are backing him to perform this Season.
No, you asked a question that was subject to your condition that Watford do not have a replacement lined up. I just asked for the source that led you to make that condition. Not being aggressive, just pointing out what you said.
Burnley are in the Europa League so need to bolster their squad. I'd have thought four forwards would be the minimum they need. Dyche was quoted earlier today about how difficult the transfer market is right now. However much you offer someone (money) they want more, more, more - no, he didn't start singing jazz-pop Carmel covers. With a derisory offer of £9m for Deeney and a penny pinching £12m for Gibson of Middlesbro' (upped to a whopping £13m!) it's obvious his budget is tight and they are targeting British players. Sam Clucas (Swansea) is also a target with a bid of £8m leading to 'on-going discussions' according to Graham Potter (Swansea manager). This afternoon they've supposedly bid £4m for Joe Hart. How bad are Pope's & Heaton's injuries? According to the Premier League site they've only signed one player so far, a teenage winger from York City (Vinnie Steels). Outgoings number seven at the moment including Scott Arfield and Dean Marney who, as far as I'm aware, were around the 1st team squad last season. Burnley as I see it right now; A threadbare squad to take into Europe and compete in the EPL with a very physically demanding playing style. Transfers seem to be targeting British players so their market is further reduced. A small transfer budget. This may well be a very testing season for the club on the field and also how their supporters and board react if they have a bad start and are struggling by January. Will they keep faith with Dyche as they did when they were relegated or, after such a good season last year, will they look to take the club on and risk all the groundwork (Dyche has often spoken about building the infrastructure of the club) laid so far?
I'd say the pop sensibilities of the original version are more in keeping with Mr Dyche but as she's not British he'd struggle explaining the benefits to the BFC board over the existing British talent of Carmel.
Is he bald as well as fat? Not a lot going for him really....apart from being a multi millionaire footballer .
Why would he? We've spent enough time hoofing the ball up to him ourselves, the problem is that he just doesn't actually win very much. Also he wouldn't be playing in a two with a "quick striker" playing off him the way some on here still think would make such a difference.
Having the right manager and playing in a system that suits him might help. Has Deeney really fallen that far that Vokes and Barnes are better than him? I doubt any of these two would have made much more of an impact than him if they were playing for us in the past couple of seasons tbh.
Probably, yes. And even more so in Burnley's system where they just repeatedly stick it in the mixer. Deeney's not really a goal threat from crosses or long diagonals pumped into the box, the other two are.
maybe Dyche has learned after all these years if he gets a second chance, don’t play Troy out on the wing. Not a good idea.
