The effing wasps plagued the place for months after that, cost thousands in sticky strips. Transfer money we'll never get back. That's why we'll never play a decent team in pre season again. Orange eating b*****ds ruined it for all of us.
Totally agree. At Liverpool he mainly played wide I believe. With us he would play more. Still a young talented footballer. However in view of his recent record Liverpool have slapped a high price on his back. I would say a 20 to 22 million pound bid would be tops for us or a loan with a view to buy. He should be hungry and keen to re-establish himself in the EPL and would be a definite upgrade quality wise up front. Confident he could top 10 goals with the right service.
His stats are also diluted by his time spent on the wing, which he appears to be ineffective at. He started well at Wolfsburg getting a goal every other game for the first ten. Then a new boss put him out on the wing and he stank at it by al accounts. No way is he worth the quoted fee yet, but a loan to buy deal could work for us.
Good stat work. I would have done the same when I was researching Origi on transfermarkt but got distracted by working out Deeneys EPL 'goals per minutes played' when you remove his penalties from the equation. Truly awful.
If we can get Success and Penaranda firing, a group of strikers consisting of Deeney, Gray, Success and Penaranda could be quite exciting. I think you'd usually start with one of Deeney or Gray but having those two coming off the bench would give any opposition team something completely different to think about in terms of energy and playing style. It would also put Deeney/Gray on notice that there are two youngsters ready to replace them which will hopefully give them the motivation to pull their finger out (probably more relevant to Deeney as with Gray his poor form seems to be more talent related than motivational). And who knows, if Success/Penaranda do get a couple of goals they might force their way in to the starting line-up. So I wonder if the club are actually looking for the 10-15 goal striker we're all talking about. I agree with most that anyone half decent (i) will cost upwards of £20m and (ii) is likely to be in demand so we might not even stand a chance of being able to persuade them to join. If these two can get some of their Granada form/partnership back, we could have a really strong set of strikers without having to fork out an arm and a leg for another Gray. I do realise this is making a fairly sizeable assumption about an upturn in form for these two and, whilst Success looks to have come back with the right attitude, Penaranda has seemingly done little in the last two years to back up the fanfare that greeted his signing. But I also wonder if it sends the right message to spend £20m on Origi when it would mean sidelining these two.
No. But hopefully Success is more reliable than in the past so he would be a straight swap for Okaka (assuming he finally goes) and then if Penaranda clicks its a bonus. Ideally we'd buy someone who will score the 15 goals we need but I just don't see it happening
Success won’t be a direct swap for Okaka though as he’s a wide-left player and always has been. He will more likely take Richarlison’s place in the squad. Penaranda also isn’t an out and out striker and that’s what we need. I see where you were going with your original post but I don’t think either of these players will be being viewed as options as strikers.
He’s still loitering and is on Adam Masina’s most recent IG story thingy messing about in a car with Navarro and Masina.
Ah, fair enough. I thought Success was a striker who we've always played on the left as we had relatively strong options up front at the time but I have nothing to base that on! If we continue to struggle recruiting a striker he might have to learn to become one!
This is the 2nd or 3rd time Okaka has been frozen out so I think there’s no way back for him either way. But if we struggle to recruit a striker, I really do expect that Jakubiak is going to kept as the 3rd striker.
I don't think anyone knows. Its years since anyone has seen him play. All we know is he is the hottest property to come out of Sth America for decades.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...vock-origi-heading-for-permanent-anfield-exit I suggest they drop their ridiculous price of £26mil for a striker with 1 year left on his contract. He can be signed up for free in 6months time. This one will be a deadline day deal. Probably not to us, but clubs know liverpool are desperate to get rid of him. They won’t want to get nothing for him in 6months time so will be forced to sell to the highest bidder on the final day.
