Probably end up with someone like a Jovetic or Zaza on loan with an option to buy.

Wouldn’t mind Jovetic. Zaza was totally disinterested whilst at WHU but another one who’s been good for the majority of his career with a PL ‘hiccup’ on his CV.

Im trying to forget the other two...

Seriously though we could have the best midfield in the world but with these two up top it'll always end up long ball.

Maybe we're looking at Genk for a forward?

This is from the Belgium press yesterday quoting the Genk manager Dimitri De Condé.
    https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuw...outs-van-ac-milan-watford-en-schalke-04-.html

Dimitri De Condé has finished his homework soon this summer. The core is complete, nicely on time to start the season.
Unfortunately, the transfer deadline still gives him headaches.

The Condé knows that his top players can be snatched away any time.
"That transfer deadline of September 1 remains a horror, you always have to be prepared for an outbound transfer, even if it is not up and running now, sometimes you can not stop a player", he tells Het Belang Van Limburg.

Thursday, the stands are again full of scouts for the Europa League-meeting with Fola Esch.
"You get phones all the time, one more serious than the other, the season has yet to start, especially the European games attract a lot of attention."
"I saw requests from scouts from AC Milan, Borussia M*nchengladbach, Schalke 04, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Watford for Thursday's match, I do not expect that to be a Fola Esch player."

Here's the Wiki page for Genk if anyone fancies looking up their various talents!

with 2 weeks to go and another 45m in the bank - i might be a little more optimistic
even though Sinclair was not good enough he was a back up - now gone - so you have to believe they have a plan and that with a foreign heavy squad that it is home grown - said it before and with no inside knowledge or speculation from others but i think it is Welbeck - wither that or the dream of Billy Sharp is still alive

Sander Bergen. Only one I've seen. Young but very classy midfielder. Almost to casual sometimes. Probably one of the best young Norwegians at the moment.

None of their players even managed double-digits in the Belgian league last season, why would we bother looking?
None of their CBs at first glance appear to have any kind of pedigree either.
    No thanks.

Between heatwave (and age) induced naps I've been trawling the internet in every language I don't speak for the merest hint of a rumour for any type of player WFC might be being linked with.

Reyes the Mexican centre back comes up a lot and with Newcastle buying Schar it means that's possibly one less club we may or may not be in competition with for his signature.

Very slim pickings otherwise with only the Genk connection throwing anything up.

Two possibles from the Genk ranks.

Sander Berge the Norwegian defensive midfielder. (As Carpster has already mentioned in post #434)
    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sander-berge/profil/spieler/333014

20 years of age, 9 full caps and a leggy 6' 3" tall and quite possibly a Doucoure replacement.
Fiorentina have supposedly had a £10.5m bid rejected recently with Genk looking for £15m.
Somewhere between the two could be enough though?

Here's a link to that story which includes the video I've posted underneath.
    https://www.violanation.com/fiorent...er-rumor-buy-sell-offer-move-reject-turn-down

Leandro Trossard, left sided attacker/forward (sound familiar?) is the second possibility.
    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leandro-trossard/profil/spieler/144028

23 years old, represented Belgium at all levels except the main side (not surprising as they're quite blessed on either side of the pitch!) and if needed he'd be a direct replacement for Richarlison.
Physically different as he's quite a pasty specimen standing a titchy 5' 7" on tippy-toes.

There's not a lot written about him and he's had a few loan spells away from Genk so if he came here he'd be used to the routine.
Right footed playing on the left, has some skills and looks quick - or is that because he's so short?

Here's a video showing little but he does possess some trickery.

We’ll be beaten first game of the season as Andone sticks a brace past us, with the forum subsequently going into meltdown. Deeney hands on hips on the halfway line.

The club will provided some reparations by signing a bumbling 17 year old winger from F.C. moules-frites

With reference to my post #438 and Leandro Trossard - he ain't going anywhere this season.

I found a couple of interviews and it seems he definitely wants to be a main player for his beloved Genk this season after signing improved terms.
He does say maybe he'd move abroad next season and only if Genk accept a big offer would he move now.

    Jeez I'm bored.

When I first looked through their squad I wondered if we were maybe interested in Pozuelo (once of Swansea). He has a good record for them and scored and got two assists tonight.

I've just watched a highlights video of his and I don't remember him from Swansea at all!
Some nice touches in & around the box and he looked to link up with Trossard particularly well.
I'm also convinced penalty areas in the Belgium leagues are bigger than anywhere else in football because the attackers always seem to have so much room!!

I've read an interview from 2016 when it was rumoured Bayern Munich & Dortmund were interested and he didn't shy away from wanting to leave.

"I'm having a good season and it's normal that clubs show an interest. What I can say is that I've had clubs and agents get in touch with me and I've passed on the contact details of my agent."
And from his playing career he's not against running his contract down and leaving on a free!

I also said on another thread that a central attacking midfielder is a position I'd like to see us add to and WFC could do a lot worse than this fella.

Unless we’re bidding for players in secret, I’m concerned we’re waiting for offers to present themselves (most likely to be late in the window as clubs look to cash in), as opposed to us getting in there early.

West Ham are a f**king shambles of a club, but I do admire their bullishness. Bid on every man alive, tell the world about it, accept not every bid will be successful but ultimately end up signing a number of their main targets.

In other words, we know Everton are after Welback but they’re clearly exploring other options first, so let’s get in there and nick him from under their noses. Not only would that be a decent signing, but also it would be dead funny to f**k Everton off.

I also think Ings, Mitrovic and Rondon are worth exploring.

In other areas of the pitch... Dawson. Craig Dawson. Burnley aren’t looking likely to meet to meet the valuation. Make a bid, offer them Deeney as part of the deal.

If we’re not quick, we’ll be giving Gifton and Johno a years contract.

He looks a cracking little player Nath.
I've just watched this video interview with him and his character comes across really well, ideally suited to WFC.

I don't believe it's the players being *****. It's the pathetic way football is run in the country. Berg is an excellent player. Ajer is getting better and better by all accounts. Elyounoussi is a top player and Im looking forward to seeing how he perform with the Saints.

Some of the top clubs like molde are run well ,doesn't change the fact the best talent in the country are not prem standard ,only have to look at national side standards.
Other sides like Viking stavanger are suffering a major down turn on and off the pitch ie turning to local council monies to bail them out . Asking local councils to upgrade a stadium complex when their crowds are waning.
There is a big problem in team Norge and that is a small population isn't producing enough quality players , this is further diluted by the obvious emphasis on winter sports .
