I agree, I also think that had Murray been around in a slightly different era to these two he would have won many more slams.

Possibly but then Henman probably would have won Wimbledon had Sampras not been so dominant,Laver could have won 18 further major titles had tennis been open etc.
It is always difficult to match players from different eras.Cruyff v Maradona v Puskas v Best and so on.

Jo Konta loses the Nottingham final to the very talented Aussie Ash Barty in three sets.
Konta was very uptight throughout and became more so when she perceived she was on the wrong end of some line calls.
What she overlooked was the failure of the service line judge to call a Konta serve out at 0-30 at 1 all in the second set. That would have given the Aussie three break points.
The crowd were very biased too, rarely clapping Barty's all court game.

Murray loses in a tie break in third set against Kyrgios.
Looked a little rusty,as well he might.
Kyrgios is a deeply unlikeable individual. All the talent and some more besides but an attitude that makes Snakey look like a saint!

Cilic beats Joker in a decent final.
Murray enters Eastbourne and has Stan in the first round,to play Edmund in the next.
Not sure that he will enter Wimbledon.

    Welbourne vs Williams.

Actually, a poor example but the principle stands.

Interesting story about Federer leaving Nike for a 10 year $300m deal with Uniqlo.
Mainly because Nike have the copyright for 'RF' logo.
    Tough at the top!

Well he won't be playing for another 10 years .. will he ?

Strong win for Murray against Stan W 6-1,6-3.

Albeit the Swiss is coming back from injury himself .

Almost certainly not but I believe Uniqlo have a few retired stars on their books and they still produce pieces in their name,Koby Bryant possibly but that maybe nonsense!

The other issue is Uniqlo do not produce shoes so Adidas maybe there for another deal.
Murray looked fine against Kyrgios last week.
The difficulty will be firstly five set matches and then the accumulative impact of a two week event. He would have wanted at least a month of competition before next week.
This is why he requested that the LTA create two Challenger events at Loughborough and Ilkley ( Possibly, can't remember and Mr IBB is worshiping at his Zaha shrine at present!),at a cost of 150k.

Can’t he find the carrots whilst you are occupied with the cut & thrust of forum work?

Btw, does he do the Palarse forum thing?

If so, is it similar to this?

He can't find the kitchen let alone the fridge, apart from the gin!
No he doesn't post on HOL or whatever it's called.
No,it's not in the least bit like us. They are all quite intense over there and I believe there is a fine imposed if Haha isn't mentioned in every post!
    I think we are unique.

Decision day for Murray before the draw at 10.30am today.
My gut feeling is he will play but...!

Not a shock but slightly concerning that he doesn't feel ready to play,he may not have many more opportunities.
Hip surgery is rarely 100% successful for tennis players;Hewitt,Kuerten,Norman (possibly?)

Trouble is Murrays' game relies on that speed and ability to get around the court..

And will playing on hard courts be any better apart from the fact its his preferred surface....

This is where he could have adapted his style if he wasn't so stubborn.
Lendl has been the only person able to convince him to be more aggressive and the wear and tear with his lateral movement has taken its toll,as with Hewitt and Gugga.
The shame is Murray has a very accomplished volley and shortening some points by serving and volleying and coming in when back to back would have possibly won him more major titles and lengthened his career.
    Almost certainly too late now.

Please assure our Sarf Landarn colleague that there is no need to store gin in the fridge.

It’ll just clog things up & prevent more Rose being chilled therein.

    The Haha thing sounds odd.

I prefer our technique of leaving an implicit silence hovering over the Bon mot.

I believe it shows two or three things:
Firstly that the depth of the tour is very strong, you certainly don't want to play a qualifier and lastly there were some very tough first round matches,as ever.
Mr IBB is now quite excited as he is hoping Bon mot is a potential signing for Palace!

Greg Norman was never any good at tennis - I don't think that was down to the operation.
Or perhaps you meant Norman Whiteside ?

Katie's mum Sue,was on my GB team in Perth in 2005,and Katie came too!
    I thought she played well.
Ash Barty playing great grass court tennis v Bouchard, audacious banana drop shot to break serve in the second set.

    Cilic out now.

Was 2 sets up before the rain stopped play too.

Probably going to be a bit of a cake walk for Federer - Djokovic* suffered a bit today and Nadal always has an early Wimbledon exit in the locker.

*Could face Edmund in the next round - on Saturday so the Beeb will try to arrange that around the football.

Konta heading for an early exit - really has digress badly since the Wimbledon run to the semi finals last year!

I have never watched more than three seconds of 'Friends'.
Konta has one game and no back up if it fails to click.
Having said that Cibulkova is a fine player and unfortunate to be pushed from the seedings to allow Serena in.
Judy Murray on 5L did a hopeless job of hiding her dislike of Konta.

Well most in the LTA probably don't like Mrs Murray tbh!

Murguruza beaten in 3 sets - faded badly in the gloom.

Will Serena come back from baby duty to win the ladies or someone like Halep on the bounce from her French Open success..

Judy is,as you would imagine,a very competitive person and probably does want to run the LTA. She has made some less than truthful comments about the funding Andy received and also about Jamie's time at Hill's Road,Cambridge.
I'd love Ash Barty to keep going,my kind of player, but expect Serena will conquer.
