So what on earth makes you feel that Ben won't get injured also.
I will keep my fingers crossed that he makes it unscathed through pre season training.

Interesting he mentions the reason he didn't join Spurs or Arsenal because he isn't interested in the Under-23 teams.

A good move by the Pozzo's to steer clear of having one.

Good video. Looks like he had good touch and anticipation, and seems to be able to mix the aimless League 2 hoof up the pitch with more considered long passes. Looks relatively pacy too.

Does seem to tackle with the wrong foot quite a lot when sliding in. Will be interesting to see if they coach that out of him, or let him continue if it works for him.

Looks a good size for a centre back but get him in the gym to bulk up a bit and we could have a right footed Britos on our hands if we're lucky.

The tackling with the wrong foot will be addressed otherwise that will be a problem with the divers of the Premier.

But an encouraging video. Looks comfortable with the ball. Good size and looks like he reads it well.

Looking forward to seeing him play.

As a player (centre back) of no renown whatsoever I always found it easier to slide-tackle with my body 'facing' whoever I was tackling, regardless if it was my stronger side or not, and hooking the ball away almost as if I was kicking it in the normal fashion except I was on my hip.

I am therefore amazed at how often professional players slide-tackle with what I'll presume is their stronger leg, tackling against their own knee joint, looking as if they're back-heeling the ball (rather than hooking it) and their body facing away from the ball carrier. A prime example being Phil Jones in the FA Cup Final last weekend. It's bloody difficult to tackle (rather than block) that way.

As Carpster says above I'd like that to be coached out of any defender at WFC but I won't be holding my breath.
I remember Walter Mazzarri saying they/he didn't train individuals how to tackle, defensive training was more about shape as a unit etc.
Those basic facets of the game should be drilled into the kids at academy level, not those in and around the first XI.

Didn't Bobby Moore also go into tackles like this?
Will need to check YouTube for this.
But surely you inviting the attacker to just knock the ball and take the foul.? This coming from someone who just preferred taking out the player first and foremost and hoping that I got a little ball. :D:D

I'm too young to remember how Bobby Moore tackled! :p
(Or should that be I'm too old and forgetful to remember that far back?!?)

If I tackled facing the player with my right hip on the floor I'd use my left leg to try and either block or get the ball.
Not only can I see the ball I can also see the other player and have a chance, albeit a slim one, of reacting to what he's doing.

If I tackle facing away from the player any movement with either leg is hindered because I'm nowhere near as well balanced.
Neither would I be able to comfortably keep my eye on the ball or other player, thus giving me virtually zero chance of reacting to any movement.

And if the ball carrier is looking to take the foul I think he'd look for my leg regardless of how I'm tackling, I just think I'd have a tiny bit more of a chance to react to him in my preferred method.

Any coach out there with any views on this?

I doubt it - modern coaching methods appear to suggest a heavy emphasis on 'taking out' the opposition, followed by vigorous arm-waving and the finer points of arguing with referees.

He seems sound in this vid

    https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/wilmot-i-getting-hurt

I hope that be rapidly establishes himself as a lynchpin of our defence and subsequently England’s along with Hughes and Chalobah in front of him forming an Uber cool spine type thing. Continuing with my mind meanderings, I imagine during his Horn career he will receive offers and speculations from Da Top 6 as well as top European teams and PSG. However, encouraged by WATFORDs success domestically and continentally (err) he will decide to stay with the Horns and form the bedrock of our defence for the next 18 years.

He looks a bit like a young John Terry. Hopefully he's as good of a player, but less of a tw4t.

Pleased with this, hope the lad can push on and impress.

That was a very long video for a player with 15 appearances, must have included every touch career to date. Thought he looks decent though. Nice to have a ball carrying centre half but frankly if he defend properly that will do for me.
