Many seem to think we'll go down, but this happens every season (including our own fans!). So no surprise about the odds and prediction we will see. The Brighton forum has a thread where most of them think we're one of the most certain teams to be relegated next season actually.

Are we mad for trying to guess who's going down before the transfer window closes and the season has even ended (regarding who's coming up) last year we were bouyed by the signings of Richy, Hughes and Chalobah. Who knows what the others are going to do? No wonder the bookies coin it if we are getting on this early

Worse for bookies as they are laying every runner blind.

I’m more concerned about odds for this season when we aren’t even safe yet.

Next season I believe we will get more points against the bottom half of the league, by better grinding out of results and less last minutes collapse! That in a nut shell was one of the last seasons failings! with the odd points gathered against the top teams we will be ok!

3 out of 14 to go down.

    We’re one of the 14 so that’s 20% chance.

On wage bill we must be in the middle of that 14 so that’s more like 40%.

And as we have less continuity & are consequently more fragile, you would have to mark up those odds somewhat.

    It’s a toss up.

I think we all should be.
It's a lovely place to go, their supporters are generally in the main, reasonably decent and friendly.
Most importantly, they hate the Palarse, and the Palarse hate them, so they are our best allies.

According to the sky sports pundits we are 2nd favourites to go down at 2/1, Huddersfield are favourites at 11/8, however they have not given odds on the promoted teams so far as I can see, so maybe they will be better odds than us to go down we shall see. My guess is Wolves will not be and whoever wins the playoff won't be either, but I think Cardiff might be. So that would make us 3rd favourites and likely to go down according to the odds.

However we know better, don't we.

I think a best we've only ever been 4th favourites for relegation.

Everyone raving about Wolves chances and 'ooooo what a big club', they are no bigger a draw to players than most existing mid table prem sides, and not even fit to play in the same league as a mahussive footballing mega-giant like Everton

I hope we are favourites again, I've made good cash out of us staying up every season so far

I’m not sure anyone is claiming they are a big club. But they have a very rich owner who is in cahoots with one of the worlds biggest agents. Ruben Neves was being talked about as being good enough to go to the best clubs in the world - and they convinced him to go to Wolves and the Championship. They will undoubtedly spend big. It’s could go **** up and end badly but I doubt it.

I see West Ham are looking at Benitez, seems a strange one, but then again Newcastle also have **** owners. He's done a very good job with them getting 10th with an average squad, could see them getting embroiled in a scrap if Benitez does leave. If he stays, well, West Ham could be in trouble

Surprised to see Neves hasn't made the Portugal squad for the World Cup.

Oh well, 4 years in the premiership was a good stint but I think we’ve dodged the bullets long enough and this season we’ll get caught out.

Anyone doubting Wolves should do their research on Fosun International, can't see them going down!

Cardiff will inevitably be in trouble, Bournemouth's time might be up Cook, Francis, Daniel, Surman all getting old and I think Leicester as outsiders to go down once Mahrez leaves this summer.

Don't think Burnley will go down while Dyche is in charge....could be very different if he leaves.

Burnley were favourites like us last season, don't think being in Europa league will do them any favours but don't expect them to go down.
This season has shown anyone from 9th onwards will be in the mix. Going to lump on for us not to get relegated, mystified why teams like muff or Brighton have much better odds than us. Palace too could be in trouble if zaha leaves.

Burnley will have to recruit very well - which to be fair, they’ve done well up to now. Just I can see the likes of Tarkowski, Pope being courted elsewhere from above as they are homegrown and Burnley can’t afford to just turn down money at will.

If players leave, Dyche will do what he usually does - get a superior replacement. When players leave Burnley, they tend not to do well - Keane, Ings. Lee Grant and your own Andre Gray. Trippier is the only one who is doing really well.

Absolutely no need to sell after making big profits in recent seasons but, if sold, Tarkowski and Pope would bring in a fortune. Last summer we made a £10 million profit on transfers after selling Keane and Gray. Brought in 5 with Wood and Cork the only big signings and leapt from 16th (2016/17) to 7th.

What's your scouting system like? Ours has unearthed a few gems from all over the world along with some utterly bizarre signings, but the danger is that one day the good players are replaced by duffers like we see at Southampton. I agree that I don't see too many of your players leaving, you have European football, and the league is much of a muchness below the top teams. If I were Tarkowski or Pope I'd be mad to go to a small team like Everton!

Obviously this season in particular, there was precious little difference between almost all the teams outside the top 6, but that isn't predetermined; it doesn't necessarily mean it has to carry on like that. Take us, for example: if the Pozzos get our recruitment half right this summer, and we manage not to be comically savaged by injuries for a third season in a row, how likely is it that we will stay in the same position grubbing for points to desperately hover around the 40 point survival mark? It's unlikely enough we would even have done that this season if we hadn't had some pretty extraordinary circumstances strongly contributing to ******* it up for us.

All I'm saying is, I can easily see the league being a little more naturally stretched out next season, and although I'm not Gracia's biggest admirer, at this moment I can also say I have a fair amount of optimism for the performances we might be able to put in come August. Of course, you can come back and ask me about that again on the opening day of the season when Troy is leading the line for us and the transfer window has already slammed shut so it's too late to compensate when it becomes very apparent that he's spent his holiday filming as host for the new series of 'Man v. Food'.
